Shogun 2: Total War Battle Report
Check out this gameplay video with developer commentary for Shogun 2 Total War.
If I where him I would have hidden the main part of my army in the forest Takeda troops walk towards my troops, and then when they least expect it my army comes charging out of the forest shooting arrows and engage them in combat. Then i send my cavalry round the sides and attack them from the rear flank (this causes the weaker troops to rout), then I get my army to surround and slaughter the rest of the stronger troops... simple...
nice tactic taking out the archers on the flank I use that with artillery in Empire total war but its risky if the enemy have carvery in reserve
What's the point of sneaking at all. You break out of a guy's hold by the leg. You fall over another guy. What's the point of sneaking by? Just walk along. Looks cool though.
I think they should stick to Medieval era- it had the most interesting mix of gunpowder troops and heavily armoured knights. Refine AI rather than trying to cover every historical period
I am eagerly anticipating the release of this one! I have played the Total War Series since the beginning and this was one that I had hoped would eventually get remade with the new engine.
They botched Empire Total War so badly I'm not at all interested in this game. Sorry CA, but that one was unforgiveable.
Man i really am psyched up for this game even more now. Damn i need to upgrade my PC though to play it smoothly
I hope to God I can get a job so I can get a computer that can handle this game. I love the Total War series. I picked up Empire, but, to my delight, my computer isn't able to handle it very well...
Like the way the game is looking used to play the first one a lot, shame I cant watch it in 'HD' Gamespot...
Human-like AI? We'll wait and see, Creative Assembly. Looks like you beat the AI army with a very simple flanking attack. Let's see one where the AI wins through strategic initiative.
I hope this game strategically good as its graphically good I love Rome, medieval and original shogun totalwar series ,it have a good replayability value Empire,Napoleon series had let this series down by miles,
I am always excited about Total War releases, but I would love to see them bring back the shell. I miss it and it really adds to the replay value. I have not played Empire or Napoleon anywhere near as much as Rome and Medieval 2 largely because there is no shell in Empire or Napoleon.
Is there anyone that actually believes CA when they talk about their "awesome AI"? I mean i friggin loved Rome and Medieval 2, but in both of those games the AI was horrendous, Empire and Napoleon were even worse (if that is actually possible)
PRE-ALPHA STAGE FOOTAGE??!! Are you freaking kidding me? It already looks AWESOME!!! I'm starting to play all Total War games in chronological sequence, starting with Rome:Total War, Rome: Barbarian Invasion, then onto Medieval 2: Total War, then I'll wait for Shogun: Total War, then onto Kingdoms (Americas campaign), Napoleon then Empire:Total War. Hopefully...HOPEFULLY, one day they'll come out with a Civil War:Total War!!! Daaaaamn! Is it 2011 yet? Civilaztion 5? What's that?! Hahahahaha
cue... The Last Samurai music... and I thought the remake of the game that launched the Total War series would just be a fantasy... nice...
@ raingiver God I hope not. The total war series has been so convoluted with city management and diplomacy. This is TOTAL war, not war peppered with peace talks, and building useless civie buildings. I hope they stick with the city management of the original shogun, where the only diplomatic options were: Ally or Surrender. And all the buildings in the game should either, strengthen troops, provide new troops, or create Spies, emissaries, and Assassins. The only financial buildings should be the mine, and the koku farm. The only Civic buildings should be Castles and Palaces, and Temples and Churches, which train Warrior Monks, and Priests respectively.
This game looks absolutely amazing. I've been a fan of all the TW games since rome, but missed the original shogun so I'm pretty excited to have a chance to play TW with samurai! I've always thought the TW games offered the best RTS experience out there; they offer a great mix of grand campaign strategy and tactical battles. I love the battles, but I think the best part is guiding my virtual empire to victory in the campaign portion. I hope that they add more options in terms of diplomacy, trade, and city management on the map portion.
@Ecislav ummm bud total war already is the greatest RTS... it combines turn based with real time so its like putting civilization and age of empires together to create a masterpiece. and thats the truth
Without bugs, weak AI, lagging campaign maps, lack of balance, stupid concept of hidden units disappering from battlefield... Total Wars would be the best RTS-es ever. If this one can make that happen I will uninstall all other RTS-es and never need to play them again. But i highly doubt that can happen:(
I have played Rome for years so with medieval. Empire im just starting it out but i hope i go far in it. But now im 100% set my mind on this game.
I LOVE YOU Total War Series!!! It is one of the few game titles and series that I have never lost interest in. These games ahve so much depth and thought... THese are some of the best RTS's EVER! And this one looks even better!!! Time for a new PC so I can play.
One thing that i missed a lot in Empire and Napoleon was the melee. It gives more srategical elements to the game.
wow, looks really nice with a "Smart AI". and those graphics and weather effects.. if they somehow manage to improve theese it´s gonna be a blast!
Nice, intelligent AI (even if very specifically showcased, its pre-alpha). Good remake of an old TW game that the community wanted revisited. Well done Creative Assembly.
For those of you who want Rome 2, search for the Europa Barbarorum MOD and you'll get the ultimate REALISTIC Total War experience. And soon they'll make the mod on the Medieval 2 engine, so better graphics too. Anyway I've been waiting for Shogun 2 for a very long time, I remember back in the day I used to conquer Japan in just a day. I didn't like Empire, and never played Napoleon but I do hope the pretty graphics don't beef up the requirements too much... strategy games are not supposed to be graphics oriented.
