They mentioned the game comes with the editor for user made content...I'm in. Look at what user made content did for Skyrim....
This looks amazing, a game faithful to the PNP game. Not sense Temple of Elemental Evil for D&D 3.5 have I seen this. Day one buy I am thinking.
Actually I play a game almost exactly like this on facebook, just the themes are different, in one game I am killing undead, and in this game you are running quests from Shadowrun, what gets me here, is that it looks like its made from the same engine as AMCs The walking dead social game. So I am not trying to troll or anything, I actually love the walking dead social game, I just dont know if I would pay money to purchase a game that is the same style of game that I can play for free on facebook. I will watch this closely and if I see something that makes it worth my money, I will buy. The one thing that might make it worth it for me is the editing software that allows you to be the GM and make adventures for your friends. Being an old table top player though, its almost something I have to buy.
It looks nice, Like the mohawks, and punk theme, but this is nothing like what the original Shadowrun games were like. I remember something more dark and gritty, the npcs had more depth and character, this just looks very static and dumbed down, this also looks very cartoonish as if they are trying to draw in the kiddy 12 year olds from wow. I'm sick to death and tired of these cartoony looking rpg's they disguest me to no end. Sorry to be so negative, I don't mean to offend anyone as this is just my opinion and im sure there are lots of people who would disagree but i just dont see how this even compares to the fallout games or the original shadowrun games, They were better designed, more of a gritty feel for the older players, better made, more indepth.
I keep seeing complaints about a lack of voice acting and the single point of view. Which seems silly to me: it looks like a tactical game, so it's not like you're losing much by viewing everything from above. (I only liked a third person perspective in the new XCOM, and not even then at times.) And I could really live without fully voiced dialogue so long as the game plays like it looks it does.
This is cool ! Reminds me of good old fashioned "Fallout". New cyberpunk with interesting interface and modern looks.
Let me get this straight, you are making a game that has no voice over for dialogues, has a forced over the top camera angle and no options to change it to over the shoulder or third person view.. I love Shadowrun but you know its the year 2013 right? Not many people will buy a game like that.. We have standards.
ok sorry but i am a huge fan of shadowrun
I played it when i was a little kid on the SNES and was hooked till the end.
And i must say that when i heard they were making a Shadowrun game for the 360 i got mega happy, i bought it and it was a lame ass shooter wich had nothing to do with shadowrun
Now they make this and again I was so happy. but now i have seen the video..... and sorry but.... did any of these creators play shadowrun ? THIS ISNT SHADOWRUN RETURNS!
This is just "A game name/fanchise wich we borrow change into something different ENJOY!" for real make a real shadowrun remake or part 2 but stop making these spin offs Shadowrun was never a turn based strategy game.
Looks kick ass for sure, I can't wait to play this and the editor. I missed the ks :( but will probably jump on that collector edition XD
@Bhemont I HATE disappearing bodies
@DeathbyStereo19TWD, as you noted, is a free social game. Well, ya get what ya pay for, because compared to the likes of games like Fallout 1 and 2, Arcanum, Temple of Elemental Evil (games that are much more comparable to Shadowrun Returns) etc, AMC's facebook game is pretty simplified, both in gameplay and narrative mechanics. In TWD you don't do much except for killing undead, gathering supplies, and something killing undead AND gathering supplies if they feel like shaking things up a bit. Games like this have more depth and variety to them, with a heavy emphasis on narrative and incorporating actual elements of role-playing.
@midnight_trashh I don't think you know what you're talking about... Shadowrun on the SNES is one of my favorite games, and this looks exactly what I would have imagined a remake looking like. It's plenty dark and gritty, not cartoony, you're just making things up. Nothing at all looks dumbed down or static, you're just generalizing. You can't judge the NPCs from what little they've shown. They look fine. Apologizing for being negative doesn't make it okay to be negative, you are just being negative in an attempt to look smart. This is one professional-looking game, anyone who knows games I think can instantly see that the game looks well-designed if anything, in fact it looks like they have sacrificed some things in favor of tight design, you have no basis at all to say that. Anyway, I'll be having fun with this when it comes out, and I won't see you in the community since you don't like the game, so it doesn't really matter what you say
@midnight_trashh Really? I thought this captured the look and feel of the original Shadowrun players handbooks pretty well.
And I'm not sure what you mean by "dumbed down". The interface looks far less cumbersome and more user-friendly, sure, but the actual mechanics are all still seem very much intact. In fact they seem a bit more in depth than before, especially the dialogue.
As for the look being too cartoonish... well, this *is* a $1,800,000 game, and not a AAA game that publishers threw tens of millions at. Visual realism isn't exactly in the the budgetary stars.
@midnight_trashh The art style and overall vibe is very much like the original table top game for your information.
@jamesthemaxwell I have played many MANY games that have tried to be as up-to-date as possible and even gone so far as to switch genre's. What you have to understand is that this game is staying as close to the original game as possible, keeping in mind people who have played the original before. This is EXACTLY what people like myself want. We do NOT want this to be turned into a first person shooter like Shadowrun already has been. If they add things like voice overs for everything, and other options for camera angles, and all that other stuff, they take away everything we want. When a company concentrates on making a game look pretty with all the bells and whistles, they have to compromise on everything else, which takes away the very essence of what the game IS. The story is usually the first thing to suffer, along with the ability to explore as they end up making the maps go in a straight line with no deviation.
So you tell me, do you prefer the standards that games used to hold with massive story-lines, massive explorable area's, or do you prefer the current state of games which have mediocre story-lines, and straight line maps with no real exploration (discount graphics because that is not the be all and end all of games. That just makes them look pretty)
@shadow_6_4 OK so let me get this strait.... so your saying "I don't
what I'm talking about" because I have not played the game, but yet your
saying that this game is going to be the second coming of cryst because
what you have seen in a few gameplay videos/trailers and have
automatically come up with the conclusion in your small world you live
in, that this game is going to be just awesome? No offense, but you
sound like a total Hypocrite,
and a Sheep. You must be one of those gamers we all hear about that
watchs a few
gameplay videos of a video game then goes and pre ordersa game like
starwars the old republic for 150$ then comes back on the forums and
complains that he got ripped off crying to everyone because he was too
stupid to have not of realized he should maybe play the game first before
buying it? Duh? The developers
love Naive Little Fanboys like you.
@shadow_6_4 @midnight_trashh You have to remember that the Shadowrun game on the Genesis is completely different and much darker than any other video game incarnation. midnight could very well be talking about that game. But I agree, this game looks great regardless...I'm a sucker for a good turn-based RPG.
