@grin89 @VegasAceVII The majority of those button prompts you see can be turned off. The QTE when near death however, seems to be a key mechanic for that situation. It apparently gets more and more difficult to successfully pull off if used consecutively.
I feel the map is way to small., in my humble opinion the game would have been amazing (much more than it is now) If they had included Harad and Rhun aswell.
Harad and Rhun would have their own enemies and their own nemesis systems so basically you'd not only be pitting orc against orc in mordor to build your army there but rather you'd do the same in 2 other nations which are allied to sauron.
The environments would be very very different, you'd have the deserts of Harad and the rugged terrain of Rhun, you'd see mumakills which you could brand like the animals in mordor along with easterlings and haradrim soldiers and you'd have to work them against each other and dominate them exactly the same way you'd dominate orcs in mordor. Then when you've taken over Rhun and Harad and Mordor you could launch a final assault on Sauron !!!
The map would be much larger, much more diverse and much more fun. If you agree with this then let me know !
so I can shoot them with arrows, cut heads off, stab with daggers, cut heads off, and cut more heads off. Hurrah for quicktime combat with one finish move
@Hurgros Cutting off heads is not the only finishing move. Its just the one they showcased the most in this montage. The one thing I LOVE about this game is that every video I've watched with combat gameplay, I've never seen the same animations repeatedly in combat. I see him using a new move every time I watch a different video.
@Sanligo Well they've kind of placed it perfectly between the events of Lord of the rings and the Hobbit. So that it doesn't raise too many questions about plausibility.
@Snyper22 @Sanligo I was more referring to the invisible-teleporting-orc possessing-magic wielding-ninja-assassin who happens to be half ghost. It just sounds like a bad fan-fiction.
@Sanligo @Snyper22 He's not half ghost. He was killed, then cursed. Then had the wraith, Celebrimbor, binded to him. So now he can, with Celebrimbor's help, use some of those wraith powers.
Gamespot will not rate it more than an 7, an 8 with luck.
I don't get why they had to say that is a Lotr game, other than the name Mordor on the cover, it has nothing to do with it. Tho' I would like a Lotr game with more blood and grimm look on it, this is not it, still waiting for the Skyrim-like game...
The protagonist is so insouciant. Look at his ho-hum expression shown in the thumbnail image for the article, as if he's saying "Yep another day at the orc-slaying grounds, drove my sword into his neck, guess I gotta tug it out now."
Music aside, great montage! The dynamic camera, variety of actions, enemy expressions and armor are all fantastic.
The combat looks pretty good and I'm sure the story is too, but the enviroments look very uninteresting. I hope there's variety of locations in the game.
I want something like LOTR: Return of the King on the PS2; revamp and upgrade the gameplay and camera a little and you have a game that feels fresh again (unlike this batman/AC hybrid).
God forbid actual content and impressive gameplay sell your game...no instead it has to appeal to the obvious direction which is gratuitous mindless violence. Im sort of been there done that with these kinds of games at this point...SHOW US SOMETHING NEW! Was expecting more from a LOTR game tbh
@IanNottinghamX So I take it you've missed the multiple story trailers shown already? There was one released for E3, another for Gamescom 2014 not to mention, videos discussing the nemesis system as well as a behind the scenes videos featuring the voice actor for the main protag and the lead writer discussing working together.
@IanNottinghamX Click a link highlighting kill varieties after MONTHS AND MONTHS of story footage, explanations, and story details. Complains that the "death montage" is to focused on kills. -_____-
@romer242 @IanNottinghamX um no the only thing Ive seen months and months of is them showing the same game mechanic with the bosses. While I do think thats cool Im not shelling out my money for a 1 trick Pony. They HAVENT shown that the game has a coherent storyline, coherent gameplay or that its not borrowing too much from Assassins Creed. I just get the feeling this game isnt gonna be that good.
@IanNottinghamX Wurd. Yeah man. At least on ING they showed tons of story, mechanics, fighting, and nemesis footage. I can agree it has the slight potential of being monotonous. But I don't know man. She looks sweet! I'm at the point with games where I'm gonna wait regardless of how eager I am tho. Got burned bad with Titanfall and Ghosts :P
Combat looks fun, though a little too easy maybe. I just hope the game has plenty of other things to do between combat or it'd be boring pretty quickly. Like the AC games have exploration and some different mission-types, while the Batman games have the same with the addition of puzzles, and both of those have stories that work well to break up the combat sections. All I've seen of this so far is Orc murdering lol, so hopefully that's not all there is to it!
@nl_skipper Remember this is a death montage. I've played the game at 2 different shows now and I can assure you it's plenty difficult if you want it to be.
@nl_skipper Yeah agreed. There seems to be a rescue-yourself-from-death mechanic too. I actually think the combat in AC was too easy - meant that you were never worried about jumping into hordes of enemies
