Obviously the guy is nervous, but its a good review and he did just fine ... Lay off, I'm sure most of you would crap yourselves if you had to perform your own review on camera.
Great game. I know this is late, but I just started picking this XBOX live gems up.
For anyone thinking it may be too short, do what I did. Playthrough campaign once on insane mode (It's challenging but fun) This will prolong the campaign, and you'll be able to look forward to playing through on easier levels, exploring and finding hidden goodies.
This game is challenging, the graphics are nice, and very creative in level design.
My one complaint, is the targeting doesn't always work well when you have enemies in the background as well as the foreground.
Samus Aran has traveled back in time and had a sex change, prepare to play Super Metroid : the shadow complex. This game is alot of fun.
This guy needs to take some public speaking lessons. He sounds like a robot with his broken speech patterns and confused inflection. Considering this review was done two years ago, I hope he's gotten better (or isn't doing reviews anymore). I could hardly understand him, and it didn't sound like he understood what he was reading either (I mean saying). Actually, I think Gamespot needs to stop simply having their reviewers read out the reviews as written, as people speak and write in different ways. They need to write it like a speech, and keep in mind that its must be spoken in a natural sounding way. I miss Greg Kasavin. When he reviewed a game, it just sounded like a guy talking to you about a game. This guy sounds like he's reading lines from a teleprompter, and has no idea where his sentences are going to end.
One of the BEST games I've played & enjoyed on the XBox 360. Kool, storyline & artwork. Well worth $20 bucks +.
haha looks like him and Ricky Bobby have something in common. They have no clue what to do with their hands.
@jt2428 Seriously! I had to rewind the first 20 seconds of the video because I was distracted by the way he was holding his hands! He looks like he's a Marionette or something! WTF? Gamespot is an awesome website, why can't they find some useful actors for their reviews who can actually Read, Move and Make facial expressions at the same time!
I can't stand this reviewer. Hearing his voice just makes me wanna eat a steak knife, and yet this guy wont leave. Please Gamespot get rid of him.
Just got done playing the demo. Wow how it reminded me of Super Metroid for the old SNES. The different colored doors for different attacks. *Sniffles* Might have to break out my old snes and put in that game. Will be picking up a card later today and owning/playing this wonderfully made game. OORAH! for Shadow Complex!
Shadow Complex and Trials HD are easily the two best Arcade games for the 360. I dare go so far as to say Shadow Complex is one of the best games for the 360 period. It's that good.
It's on sale for 560 MS points this week. Better snatch it before it goes back up to 1200 pts again. :)
Downloading the demo right now. I'm hoping I'll like it a lot, then maybe I'll buy the full version.
I love this game and I would recommend Empire (the book it's based on) to anybody here. it's pretty fantastic
This is a really good game. I downloaded the demo and decided I would give it a shot since I had heard such good things about it. I was surprised at how quickly and easily I was sucked in and purchased the full version only a 20 minutes after starting the demo. It is really that good.
lol @l0kmun I feel ya mane. I wish i had a ps3 instead of a xbox. well...guess i'll have to settle for this Mass Effect/Left 4 Dead/Gears of War/Xbox Live lol
dayum this game makes me wish I had an xbox instead of a PS3. Oh well...guess I better go play Killzone 2/Demon Souls/Uncharted 2/Infamous instead :(
should have gotten a higher rating. p.s. it's on sale this week only for 800 points instead of 1200 points.
someone needs to teach that boy how to keep his hands down when he talks, that crap was a review breaker, lol now i know what konn3r was talking about. words can't describe how annoying that was.
I played this, awesome game but I wish most of it was fully 3d all around sometimes lol, but its all good in any case still have fun playing it lol
I finialy got all 200g, I feel so proud this is my first all achievement game. This review is good, pretty much went over everything. This game is like Super Metroid in many ways with some upgrades, Friction Dampner/Speed Booster, Hook/Grappling Beam, Foam/Ice Beam. I love side scrollers like this, Metroid and the Castlevania titles. This game was very well through out though with a great set of upgrades and a clever level design.
I didn't notice anything wrong with the reviewer or the review until I looked at the comments. Quit nitpicking. What I got from this review was that: this game is genuinely fun to play, but is not without minor flaws and annoyances, and that it has great production values and a boatload of content more than worth the money you pay for it.
WTF is with the f*cking GameSpot community, every god d*mmed reviewer, no matter who it is, will get put down. "Reviewer s*cks, needs to get a life, needs to relax, wtf we didn't see the reviewer, OMG the reviewer does not move, I don't like how he looks, this guy is a nerd, blah blah blah Im a f*cking troll blah blah blah" what is wrong with you people? Don't like the reviewers? GTFO of this game reviewing site then.
shush you trolls, the review was great. lark told me everything i wanted to know. i wish i had a 360 so i could play this game
and also, shadow complex was WAY overrated. Is it because Cliffy B (who I will punch in the face whenever he is within eyesight of me) is the guy who made it? or helped make it? You money hungry people, you. Gamespot has been selling out more and more for years. Hey, don't worry gamespot, you always have Lark and his eternal cackling to turn to when you need to feel better about yourself.
@foxhound_fox 1) I felt the story was poorly integrated as well. It was great in the beginning, but about halfway through, the plot became 'go get equipment' and there was no more story development. 2) Teleport systems weren't integrated into games like this until after Super Metriod, so it wasn't expected in that game but has become a standard since. That would be like saying a new FPS reminds me of Wolfenstein 3D, but it's annoying that you can't look up and down. You couldn't look up and down in Wolf 3d, but no one complained, however it is expected in any shooter today. 3) By difficult aiming, he was talking about aiming into the distance, which is the same problem I am still having with my character at level 38. It isn't a current level problem, the game seems to have difficulty recognizing when you want to aim in the background. He explains this further in the written review. After finishing the game a couple of times, I completely agree with all of his points, both good and bad. I still love the game and will be playing it for a long time to come, but I also agree with his few negative points.
