Sayonara, You Are Dead - Dark Souls II Gameplay Demo
Dark Souls II had a huge line at Tokyo Game Show 2013, and we jumped straight to the front to bring you this demo! PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately we were unable to capture direct audio for this demo.
The #1 game I am looking forward to in the near future. I absolutely love the Souls series! Demon's Souls was one of the most innovative games of it's time. Can't wait to delve into DS2!!!!
It's looking good, I might say even a bit better than the previous demo reveal by the From Software reps.
It looks to me like they are still tweaking the character animations. The main character still looks a little floaty as he walks. Remember old video game engines with third person over-the-shoulder views that couldn't get the concept of footsteps firmly planting into the ground as the character moved? It seems this new DSII game engine suffers from it -- let's hope they remove the roller skates from the boots before final release.
Ok I understand that this guy might be new to the series but seriously? He tried to pass by the guy at the doorway by rolling into him.
oh my god that guy was terrible at it. why didnt you just put the camera on the guy playing beside him?
Nothing new here.. after 2 great games, you need to start making changes and further progress.. I have spotted nothing unique or fresh in this demo video. I hope this will change when the game comes out.
Is this game coming to PC for sure? will it be a bad port-job like DS was???
Edit: who is the chick in the end :D?
the day the beta be released to fans all over the world, this gameplay videos will be far better than this.... this guy has no careful at all with this kind of build..
this looks f**** awesome and at the same time f*** hard too, more than 1 for the look of the video. Cant wait to play this game and pre-order my pc version (when it cames out -.- )
sadly the guy playing the demo is not very good at dark souls...
@push88 Well he's not a pro by any stretch, but you need to take into account the fact that enemies can basically stunlock you and it is almost impossible to not get hit more than once now, it punishes you much more than it did before.
@radikel They just aren't releasing one I'd assume. Sucks, but that's how it is.
At which point in the video did the running animations look floaty to you?
@Angeal_Grave He rolled because in Demon's Souls you could push enemies with a roll. I do it all the time.
@Angeal_Grave Maybe he thought he was playing bowling. It's easy to confuse the two.
@GunEye I think ''your chick'' is a DUDE!
@GunEye What chick?
@GunEye Their games are great so far... looks like the devs are just perfecting an awesome formula which doesn't need changing but they're just expanding upon which is fine by me... Similar sort of game I loved was Ninja Gaiden and look at how that series was ruined :(
@heartindarkness just what do you mean by "hybrid"?
@GameGuy642003 no, they deserve it.
@slayerSS-3 Give the guy a break it could well be his first time playing. Also from what I've head from someone who's actually had a chance to play the beta this game might actually be even more hardcore than dark souls.
@radikel @Restivus It looks to me, and maybe it's just me, that when the character is running his feet are skating a bit, esp. when against the tiled floors. I understand that for good game control the char has to be very responsive to turning (and when turning he goes full James Brown lard emitting shoes mode).
I'll add that this is a very minor quibble! The game looks awesome, the new shadow effects look great, the enemy animations look great. The game hasn't gone hollow on us yet.
@inversepolarity @GunEye Actually there's plenty new but the changes are not the kind of things you'd see just from watching the demo. Refinements to the way your stats effect movement, casting speed and such help making classes like the sorcerer more viable. Also multiplayer is a much bigger deal in this game, (hence the beta) being hollow wont protect you from invasion anymore and covenants are going to have more involvement and just generally kick more ass in multiplayer interactions.
Perhaps, its unclear especially with the cape flowing and blocking the view(awesome btw). This was medium speed run, which is quite similar to DkS, perhaps it will feel more solid on light equip burden.
OFten times things seem different when viewed compared to when you are controlling the char. Not saying ur wrong, but lets see. One thing though, they have used mo-cap extensively, and if anything, FromSoft have shown us, that they take smooth crisp animations seriously, so i think we can heave a collective sigh of relief!!!! :)
