Ryse's Road to Redemption after Rocky E3 Reception
The team at Crytek took criticisms to heart and have put their best efforts to get Ryse: Son of Rome back on the correct path.

I don't know why this game is getting such hate. I think it looks fantastic. A decent launch title imo
The only downside i see with this video is the throwing spear animation...looks kinda crappy or rough.
So i'd like people to tell me what this awesome game everyone is comparing this to is. Whats this game that has super awesome next gen combat and graphics? What is it you PS fanboys are comparing this to. Also while we're at it...explain to me where you guys found all this in-depth videos of the storyline gameplay...so far I only see 2
Game looks Good, And the fact that Ryan saying it wont suck balls I take his word for it. I will say ill reserve it but not need because next gen have game downloads!
That reminded me of a few ps2 games I used to play. I'll tell you want though, it wasn't like God of War because god of War wasn't that slow.
The turn around shield bash is so overdone with how repetitive the combo system is. Can you imagine turning that often with that must speed to bash a dude with a shield half your size like its made out of Styrofoam?
The combat is very last gen. Then again, if EA can rehash the same 1994-95 engine for passing and receiving and AI stuff, I don't see why these guys can't throw in some ps2 hack and slash copy/paste game-play either.
I am looking forward to this game. If you are not, thats fine, but how can you say it sucks lol its not out yet people COME ON be realistic!
On paper it sounds great. A hack and slash set in the ancient Roman times. As you look closer though, the idea just gets unappealing, which is a hard thing to do with such an awesome concept.
The story is completely fictionalised which makes next to no sense when there are plenty of great stories from that period that could have been brought to a whole generation of players who may have never heard of it unless that game hadn't been released (rather like how I probably wouldn't have heard of the battle of Thermopylae if it weren't for 300).
The gameplay appears to be rather simplistic and unsatisfying due to the integration of QTEs. Yes, the combat in any game of this genre is generally just pressing buttons in a certain order to maul your enemies but in other games, you at least had complete control over which buttons to press. In this game it's essentially decided for you. It's as if the developers decided that the players wouldn't look as cool if they pressed what they wanted.
The microtransactions don't seem entirely necessary either. By saying that they are there purely for convenience, the devs are essentially saying that the base game is designed to be inconvenient to the player.
What also seems to be a thing that was just thrown in because other popular titles have done it in the past is the multiplayer component. This game could have easily been a singleplayer epic with no need for a multiplayer, but instead, a good amount of resources have been wasted on it. Although I must admit the gladiator arena has caused my interest to perk up.
All in all though, this just seems like a cynical attempt to create another spunkgargleweewee AAA game with microtransactions, multiplayer, a half-baked plot, gameplay that would rather do the job itself rather than let the player do it and purty purty graphics.
"Deshi...Basara...Deshi...Basara...Deshi Deshi...Basara...Basara...Deshi Deshi...Basara...Basara..."
"What does it mean?"
"That Xbox One game that comes out at launch in November of 2013 for $69.99? *Looks at camera and winks for plug*"
"OK, Batman time."
"Deshi...Basara...Deshi...Basara...Deshi Deshi...Basara...Basara...Deshi Deshi...Basara...Basara.."
"WAIT, IT REALLY MEANT RISE!"
"What!? Wha... Whoaaaaa! AHHHHH! *Bruce falls to death, credits roll."
How does XBOXONE still not have a release date? Also does anyone who works for gamespot like any new game. They all sound like hipster haters. How are you talking about a game that you are not excited about. My impression of them"It doesn't totally suck balls (how professional), smart glass is useless, it's shinny. You guys are lame sarcastic and boring, always trying to be witty. No one likes this site we just come here for the gaming news. I'm going to stop clicking videos. Rant out
I think it looks rather good even with the quick time events but it's looks even better without them, though I still don't know if i trust Crytek I will wait for a review, looks promising so far.
Can't pass up a medieval-themed game like this, looks great with heavy emphasis on action....sure it'll have a few issues but overall it looks good.
Keep hearing good things about this one. Might sneak into my day one group along w/ Watchdogs, NBA 2K and Dead Rising 3
For the record, a centurion would never be caught dead on the sand of the Colosseum. Gladiators were slaves and prisoners, not decorated war heroes.
The guy who actualy played this game and is talking about it says the game is great and looks great! Im gona take his opinion over ANYONE who is watching this video! This video serves no justice. I;l take it from someone who has actually played it. Game looks great...
@neprisistates Because all games are so incredibly realistic.. gimme a break..
@josh7845 You must have had a terrible history teacher if you havent heard the story of king leonidas. Do you at least know where the term marathon stems from and why they are as long as they are?
The battle of Salamis, the pontoon bridge?
@StephenSays Its still in beta test.
@StephenSays november 8th mark my words it was leaked.
@StephenSays yeah i was expecting a date at gamescom for sure
@Albaficas Just call it God of War. God of War: QTE Edition would be a redundancy.
@Albaficas So, you haven't even listened or watched to the AUTO-LOADING video. Thanks for your awesome and oh-SO-original and SO funny contribution.
I really hope it doesn't play like GodofWar, non cancelable combos are the worst :(
@zimeron1 Well, actually a number of them were volunteers and a good number also reached fame and fortune through being a gladiator.
@zimeron1 Maybe it has a Gladiator movie type plot twist or something.
@No_Phonies_Here Want me to link you to multiple reporters who tried it and thought it was pretty shit? Because i can
@No_Phonies_Here Gamespot praised Too Human up until the day it came out. Gamespot also provided no hint on the disaster that was Aliens: Colonial Marines but you go ahead and trust them.
@No_Phonies_Here yep a god of war clone with more QTE than the whole gow trilogy
waiting gow4-heavenly sword 2-darksiders3
@Dbizzles Oh. Well that's okay then. :D
@Arcturuss @No_Phonies_Here Go ahead I bet there not even official, if there not official well known reporters then don't bother then i know it was just a shit attempt at trolling a Xbox exclusive.
@wgerardi @zintarr @krystyla @josh7845 I hope teachers are telling kids about greater events than the supposed last-stand of the semi-fictionnal Leonidas, who's prowess are at best, a flagrant exagerration of a really minor historical event. Also Frank Miller's view of history is soooo retarded...it's actually pathetic to think some people believe the movie 300 was inspired by true events...but then again...those are the people who made Michael Bay a billionaire...so...they suck.
@zimeron1 @DeusGladiorum It's a game, made for entertainment where artistic license has been taken for fun.
