Meh, just recently got RO2 on steam. It's ok but I hate the pacing. There's no running and gunning it's all about slowly crawling towards point x and camping. Even their new action mode doesn't really change the formula. With that said, probably not gonna get those new maps.

What about the players that have Red Orchestra 2. Do theyr get a discount on this DLC, since teh people that buy this standalone which is based on the same engine as RO 2 get the RO 2? I think it's only just that the owners of a RO2 copy get this sort of discount, since only the MP counts on R) 2, the SP, is simply practice, there is no story whatso ever except for the dialogue.

So, no noobtubing, no dualwielding, no rocketlaunchers, no bunnyhopping nubs, no shooting through walls, how I missed this kind of game.

oh man, the ironsights are brutal in this game.

Nice to see something other than BF3 or COD.

Well, since this seems to be one of the few games which even tries to model the behavior of flamethrowers correctly (TVTropes has a whole page - http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/VideogameFlamethrowersSuck - detailing games that don't), I have to wonder if a 'blind angle burst' (that is, bouncing the stream around a corner) is possible...

Also guessing that the Hollywoodism of flamer tanks exploding violently when punctured by gunfire is NOT in effect here.

OMG, the iron sight of the thompson is ugly

Anyone who's ridiculing this game dosn't know what they're talking about. Not only are there no WW2 shooters anymore, but there has never been a good tactical shooter centered around the pacific war. And this is not even in teh same genre as BF3. WTF would make someone compare the two?

I will buy it if it will be under 15$

Its bad....its just bad...why are they even showcasing this...havent they seen what BF3 can do in terms of gameplay/graphics?

So, this is a DLC then.I thought it is going to be a mod (free). Still looks interesting.

RO2 is a great game, and I recommend it to all PC gamers.

Environmental graphics are pretty good, but character animation and detailing is simply a bad job..

but still I'm bored with all the modern themes..

@Joe295159 lol run and gun.  Good one.

@NervoZa I'm not sure if you've ever played RO2, but it's completely different than BF3. And it's hilarious you use BF3 as an example, as I know of many people who agree it's lacking in the gameplay department (it was sad to see them move much closer to making the game for...a broader market) and even on Ultra settings BF3 isn't AS impressive as you'd think,  I really think DICE should've focused on less filtering and more fleshed out color palettes, especially on maps like Operation Metro.

@M-S-M-S TWI's plan was any mod that looked promising would become an official expansion, the mod team would get paid when it released vs getting zippo by releasing a mod.

Krazyxazn

@CUDGEdave There is a mod in the works called Iron Europe - 1914 - 1916, I believe it has British forces as I saw an Lee-Enfield.

@gxgxgf I was really hoping for a WW2 pacific theatre based on Arma2 enginge, just like the recently released Iron Front

Krazyxazn

@gxgxgf RO and standard WW2 game don't mix. Name a WW2 game that has 1st person cover, suppression, peeking, mantling, 64 players, mod tools, morale system, weapon collision, bullet penetration, bipods that don't make you static, adjustable sights, free aim, and etc.

jayjay444

@b2bwild I agree looks like a fun game despite some bad details and animations, one thing i would hope for in the full game is more men and more enemy to make it feel more like WW2, it looks action packed so i think ill give this a try when it comes out.

@Crush_Project Because shooters are for children? Oh ok sorry, didn't realize that murdering other human beings with guns was for children...Crush_Project way of dealing with opinions he doesn't agree with: being all butt hurt and making pathetic trolling attempts by ridiculing his opponent's taste. Maybe you should go play halo or whatever; you know, being childish and all.

@Krazyxazn I thought the Iron Europe team had stopped developing the mod, did they start working on it again?

Crush_Project

 @bjorta

that would be cool, but hopefully they wont do it in half measures like iron front.  Dayz is also now getting its own stand alone game too now.

Krazyxazn

@jayjay444 It's a multi-player game with support up to 64 players. 64 players is pretty big.

Joe295159
Joe295159

Definitely not CoD but to be honest the destructible environment and the graphics in Battlefield add a lot to realism. But yeah, Arma is the closest thing you'll get for now other than joining the army in real life or playing paintball or whatever.

Crush_Project
Crush_Project

@Joe295159 do you have any better solutions?  i play alot of arma more then ro tbh, but if you have some better games, id certainly love to try them out...(just dont say bf or cod or any of those lol)

Joe295159

@Crush_Project Once again, mr "Crush" demonstrates his monkey level IQ with even more poorly thought replies. If you think Red Orchestra is anything close to reality you are strongly mistaken.

Crush_Project
Crush_Project

@Joe295159 i never said anything about shooters themselves being made for children.  I was saying you should stick to shooters made for children or noobs or cartoon games seeing as you cant hang with reality.

@Krazyxazn Nothing...? I was just mentioning it seemed like you guys were stating that no other modern game uses peeking. So I through in my fact, proving that a modern game has peeking.

@TLChicken Bipods have worked fine for me. A lot better than the bipod system in BF3. Other games don't do limb damage as they do. Other game's limb damage is just if a bullet hits here it does X damage. RO2 has organs and bleeding and slow downs.

TLChicken
TLChicken

@Krazyxazn Other games have limb damage, that is not a new concept. The non-static bipods are borked, and the overheating barrels are more of a hinderance than a cool feature. All in all, the game is not as innovative as the punch drinkers would have you believe.

Krazyxazn
Krazyxazn

@TLChicken I like how you guys only name one feature when RO2 has a lot more things like body limb damage, non-static bipods, changing overheated barrels, and etc.

TLChicken
TLChicken

@Krazyxazn Splinter Cell Chaos Theory had "peeking"...that game also had a cover system that actually worked too!

Krazyxazn
Krazyxazn

@gxgxgf Look at Red Orchestra 1, it took place between 1941-1945. It has a lot of weapons. So its not a matter of them not wanting to add more weapons its a matter of them staying within the time period for their game.

Krazyxazn
Krazyxazn

@gxgxgf Naming peeking isn't being desperate. Name a recent game that actually has it. Then name every game that people asked for it and never got it. The first list will probably be short if none at all. The second list would probably be long.

Talking about real gameplay and not a generic shooter?

Did you even read the whole feature list I posted above. Again name me a shooter that has those and how does that not make RO2 stand out from these so-called generic shooters.

Content?

They released the SDK a few months ago. Maps are in development, they even released an official one awhile ago. As for weaponry and tanks this game is set within the Battle of Stalingrad. They added in weaponry and tanks that were used in that battle. There are more tanks and troop transports coming later on. All their vehicles have fully animated interiors. Name me a game that even lets you see the interior let alone let you interact with it.

@TLChicken I play on 64 player servers all the time. Haven't noticed any lag other than when playing on European servers from US East.

@Krazyxazn you ever hop in a server with more than 20 players? laaaaaaaaaag
