i bought a ps3 last year, maybe a little longer ago, and i was never taken n by the resistance series. doesnt seem like anything special but i could be wrong (prolly not by the looks of it)
Hmm...... I had higher expectations for this game and it really just looks average. With games like Battlefield 3 and Gears of War 3 I assumed there would be a much larger WOW factor to this demo. The one thing I did like is the guns look like they shot well and feel like guns. The bullseye I was happy to see got a little bit of an upgrade and packs more of a punch.
@luciferbelmont, if you want people to take you seriously than the next time avoid to use expressions as "people like you...." when you clearly don't know what you are talking about.
Not impressed. Just seems like the same thing over and over again. I am jaded after playing R1-2 and Killzone 1-3; this demo doesn't provide anything spectacular to look forward to. I'll just say why this is better than that turd (a.k.a. Resistance 2) excreted by Insomniac after playing too many other first person shooters. -I like that they brought back health. It's more thrilling to know that you might die soon, which is a signal to the player that they should step up their game and really try to survive, rather than hide for a few seconds. -You can now carry more than two weapons; hallelujah. -The shooting and killing seems to be more realistic and satisfying. That's pretty much it, as far as I can tell (aside from the obviously better graphics). Here's to hoping that the finished product isn't another poorly made bowel movement.
@MalakTawus Just because i disagreed with you doesn't mean im attacking you.... Chill! calm down take a breath and respond more maturely next time then i'll take you seriously.
@luciferbelmont, what the hell are you saying? You don't even know me and for your information i LOVE games that are really difficult (unless the game is difficult 'cause it's a broken game......but great A.I. surely isn't included in that category), so no, "people like me" would be really happy to see a video with a gamer killed a lot by enemies that actually don't act like brainess idiots..... ......but like i said they have a lot of time to improve the A.I., but if this will be the final result than it surely isn't good imo......
@MalakTawus you really think Insomniac is gonna dumb down the AI o.O, like the dude said in the beginning he said he was embarrased of dyingin a public demo. If he was dying all over the place, then people like you Malak *no offense* would then be saying "it looks too hard weeeeeh im otgetting it weeeh it too hard"
I have a couple things to say about this demo. First of all, I have to say that I am really impressed. So far the game has shown a terrific sense of atmosphere and identity. The graphics have been greatly improved from R2, and I like the direction they are going with for the weapons, I had doubts about it, but now I am satisfied that it will work. I was also skeptical about health packs, but I think that it will be a nice break from all the regenerative health thats all FPS now. The boss fight with the Brawler was extremely intense, and I can see now that there will be just as memorable boss fights in this game as in R2. The sound design seems to have been improved and also the physics. So far I can see that this is going to be quite a gory game, and the scripted deaths of your allies is entertaining to watch, and finishing enemies with a bloody headshot is very satisfying. The only concerns that I have right now are the AI. I'm sure that since its early in development they are still working out kinks, and it was on casual, but I hope that it gets better, for both Humans and Chimera. I also hope that the enemies direct some of their attention to your allies, because I found it annoying in R2 when despite the fact you had dozens of allies surrounding you, the enemies will always sprint past them and specifically target you. Overall I'm really impressed with this game so far, and I have very high expectations for it. Love the Resistance series, and I can't to hear more from it.
@PuppetMaster786: Surely the fact that it's casual mode is good, but i'm not really talking about the effectivness of the enemies,i'm talking of the fact that they have ABSOLUTELY no sense of self, and that is a clear indication of a BAD A.I. Why people can't admit that there is something wrong even when it's clear? Btw the game is far from be completed so it's not that i'm really worried about this since it could be normal at this moment of the production, but still they clearly need to improve the A.I. that we have seen (even for Casual mode).
they kind of ruined the demo by choosing the lowest difficulty... choosing a hard difficulty would have shown how playing the game really feels like... even the normal one would have been way better... it looks great anyway... SO getting it XD
Played Resistance 2 and had the most awful experience with a video game I have had in a while but this looks way more exciting and interesting!
Not that I really like the game..too brown, like the first one (which I've beaten a few times). But people need to realize that in an open environment A.I. is hella hard to write. It's going to be stupid from time to time. You're used to A.I. that's confined to a certain area or have a simple fight and flight mechanic.
to everyone talking about the difficulty and AI issues...look at the 7 second mark, they are playing on casual, the easiest of the four difficulties
looked good. love the explosive shell pistol thingie is it just me or do i feel that the AI is alittle stupid?
@xan114 I agree that it looks pretty easy. But it is on the easiest setting so hopefully the AI is better on harder settings.
not too impressed by this to be honest. the ai looks terrible! whole group of them just stand there firing a few shots while he tests weapons on em and he can walk in a room of like 5 and not die. come on give us some challenging and intelligent enemies that take cover and work together like crysis or gears of war. fairly poor effort in that department by insomniac. on the other hand the gameplay looks decent and the graphics are pretty nice.
that was def. one of the most exciting video previews for a first person shooter than I have seen for a while. And yeah, health bar for a shooter... looks awesome
The opening reminded me of parts of Half Life 2 with the alien ship coming in and the big energy tornado in the sky. The AI looked a bit weak. It's funny how they don't really focus much on the guy that's really doing all the damage. It looks good though and the weapons seem fun. Hopefully the main campaign will be longer than some of the 4 hour pieces of crap we've been seeing lately.
Way, way better than the inadequate Resistance 2, what a sequel this is shaping up to be going back to the roots that made the first game such an enjoyable success.
@Scorchstar No objectives? You obviously didn't pay ANY attention to the vid whatsoever, or u be trollin.
@eal-zubieri i saw the face of the "helper". i know that it is a demo and i didnt mean i that way im 14 from norway so im not that good at english
This game reminds me much more of Resistance 1 than Resistance 2. I think they are going back to their roots.
I'm looking forward to seeing some of the more low-key levels; the description of the boat ride demo sounded amazing. Also REALLY looking forward to see how well the Sharp Shooter controls are handled. If they're anything like Killzone 3, I'm picking this up day one for sure.
