They f.up the game with this alien underground crap. There was nothing wrong with humans and surface. same thing with crysis 1,2 it could have been a fps/rpg in nyc about cosa nostra or something.But...everyone has his/her own opinion.
Magnet gun looks like a lot of fun. Still wish they'd go back to first person, though. I feel like the series belongs in that view.
It amazes me when reading these comments that someone may say "ripoff" of so-and-so game... whatever? I noticed comments regarding underground areas "not like the open environment of Guerilla". Did you just happen upon Red Faction? Unfortunately, for some of you, Red Faction was played underground originally with a lot of sci-fi elements to boot. It doesn't matter what the graphics looks like in a demo, everything is subject to change anyway. I am only interested in seeing what direction they are taking RF at this point. Comparisons to Dead Space or Gears of War aside it's all about whether or not they can pull off an exciting and immersive game. Hell besides, if they did "borrow" from a couple of games here and there at least they chose from a few good ones in my book. Nuff said.
Gliave, you are an idiot. Did you play the first two? The entire first game was the miners rebelling against the authorities. The second one was 5 soldiers rebelling against the government for control of nano technology. Guerilla was fun but nowhere near as good as the first two. I give you 2 thumbs down for being a moron.
Red Faction Guerrilla was great coz.....Well...Coz u were a freagin Guerrilla! The fact that you got to fight the authority is somethin that separated it from the rest, despite that it lacked in terms of intensity /depth /diversity. I still played it all the way just for the story line. This is a complete switch up, like an out-of-breath runner up to Dead Space. Heck did u change the view for as well??? The game's plot will probably either make it, or break it. Here's to makin' it.
My god you people. Red Faction Guerrilla was a step in the WRONG direction (Its still a decent game, don't get me wrong), but I'm guessing you wouldn't know that since most you haven't played the First Red Faction Game. As far as us "Old guys" are concerned, its great to see the series jump back to its roots, lets just hope they pull it off correctly. I'll probably get flamed for this, but its the truth, dismiss it all you like. Also, something you should all remember, the game is a still 8 months off, they could easily be showcasing just one part of the game.
Was hoping they'd keep the same theme as the previous game. It doesn't really look like we'll be getting to play with open world environments in this one.
@Fusco1980 Yeah I know. My point was it wasn't a break through as it should have been. Looks more like a step backwards. Funny how I'm sure the makers are happy about this but nobody said they had to buy this asap. PASS!
And for some strange reason, watching this video reminded me of The Thing video game from a few years back.
Agreed. This is not Red Faction. Much like what happened going from Red Faction to Red Faction 2, there will be more emphasis on action and set pieces........and less focus on destruction. I loved RFG, but I think this one will tank. I hope I'm proven wrong though...
ok, a close over-the-shoulder view, dark corridoors, mutated aliens with blades on their arms, and a stomping melee attack. Dead space much?
The symbol of the red faction series is the Sledge if they remove that and combine it with the aliens, underground, and the compact open world it will feel like a whole different series
That camera will get annoying quick, if you can't change it. Looks alright on it's own, but I'm not sure if the name "Red Faction" should be on the front of the case.
Looks great, I'm pretty sure the camera angle can change though.. hopefully. And the "curb stomp" ... not actually a curb stomp at all, just a stomp.. also, what other close range melee attack would you expect on those little spider things? You could bat them with your gun but realistically that'd just take too long.
That camera is way too close to the character, and it looks like you don't get your sledgehammer. mes sads
