well thats why you dont play medal of honor, you play arma.
bohemia started off with simulators for military only. These guys high point was snot nosed 10 year olds with muscle memory.
Good parts lol. Trust me I know guys who serve (Royal Marines and Rifles). And while they enjoy what they do (to an extent). They say the only good part is knowing you and your mates aren't coming home in a casket.
Anyone that wants a realistic warfare experience should just wait a little while. With the way things are going with Iran they could get their wish when the government brings back the draft.
Do you think all this "authenticity" talk is just a diversionary tactic so they don't actually have to talk about gameplay? the last MOF talked up the authenticity of the game as well and then ended up being even more of a linear rail shooter that COD. Maybe it was supposed to be "authentic" but the single player game was basically a following orders sim. "Take cover here, wait for them to pass, advance there, go prone, take out the guy on the left!".
You want to know how it is to fight a real war? Dig yourself a hole in the worst neighborhood you can, the more crime and danger the more realistic it will be. Live in that hole during rain, heatwaves, and freezing blizzards. Sleep only 4 hours a day. Only eat a few cans or bags of nasty food per day, and always be hungry. Don't shower or wash your clothes, but do lots of walking and exercising. Guard that hole no matter what; if any one comes near the hole or attacks you, shoot them, but honestly you'll just be bored for 14 hours per day and hope no one kills you. Do this for 15 months. Maybe you'll get into a gun fight, or maybe not. Maybe you'll get attacked, or maybe not. After 15 months, go home and wonder what the point of that was. Congrats, you now know what it feels like to be in a war. Maybe they'll make a game off that?
Why is he still wearing his mask in the interview? Is he a game developer / terrorist or something? This is just more totally transparent marketing ploys.
Hey EA, how about showing some console multiplayer gameplay and MP concepts and getting off this "authentic, realism" fantasy you're using to differentiate this game from CoD. Why don't you show what is good and different and exciting about your game, instead of feeding off us this marketing mumbo-jumbo that NO ONE is listening to and is frankly starting to leave a bad taste in my mouth...
I am an ex-soldier because the country I live you were mandatory to do the military. I was part of a UN Force for a few months in the Balkan region. During my time I have met several soldiers from all areas. From field cooks to special forces from countries such as: US, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Germany. First of all, the ones that saw action do not like to talk about it. Second, when I asked if they play video games, the professional soldiers (the ones not drafted) all shook their heads and said "no". The deployed soldiers are just doing their job and when they are home they just want to be with their families and be gone from violence and war. A Portuguese comando (from the Comandos batt.) (they did a lot of missions in Afghanistan) told me that if you have seen the real bad stuff, you usualy don't talk about it. The big talkers are usualy the ones that were in the rear with the gear and have not really seen much.
As an ex-soldier that has not been in a firefight, am more than curious how it is, the real life scenario, so I asked around the people that did see actions and from most, I really did not hear much. All that were in it, were sick and tired of it and when I asked why they join the military, I heard many answers, some of which I would never have thought of.
There is no video game that can bring "war as real as it gets" because you got 0 responsability in a video game, 0 stress, 0 fear, 0 hate, 0 emmotions, you just play around through the game. In war, in battles, soldiers want to survive it and go back to base, take a shower, eat a meal and talk with their mates and family back home.
So if you guys think you can make great friendships with soldiers that have seen it all, do not expect that inviting them to play a shooter video game is the right approach. Also, for Christ's sake, don't ever make the same mistake as I did and ask them to compare their firefights with a video game, you just make a fool out of yourself, like I did.... just FYI.
It's still more a repetitive action movie than a war documentary.
I know a couple of blokes who are in the Army and most of them like the games, but that's all about the gameplay. They'll laugh at anyone who dares to compare a game like this to real combat action. It doesn't get more realistic than Arma and Operation Flashpoint and many people consider those games boring.
@Armyboy5 @Zulu1Tango I agree with you both. It seems that we have created something I like to call ...Call of Duty Syndrome. Meaning if a game is too much like call of duty gamers get upset or if the game isn't like call of duty they also get upset...so no matter gamers get up set because they don't know what they want and/or the game is to much a like or to different compared to call of duty It is lose for everyone.I just simply say judge each game for it own merits and stop comparing everything to call of duty. It think we compare everything to call of duty so much that gamers no longer no the difference between what is good game and which isn't or what is different or not differenet.
Personally, I think call of duty has been hurting the gaming industry for years and we need to break this cycle and actually develop games that are good and that matter,,,get way from the cookie cutter style of development, especially, when we as games are paying $60 a game. That is of course different topic all together.
I have to agree with @Armyboy5 on this one. Gamers these days are so caught up in comparing every game, to every other game. Or hating something because it's too similar OR too different...I mean, this doesn't make sense anymore. This is why Developers and Companies always say, "Consumers don't know what they want" because it's true. First you will have Gamers talk about a game being "too unrealistic and arcade-like" or it lacks realism or one of many other flaws they are always quick to point out. Now, you have Gamers saying "Oh wow look at this crap, this isn't even close to real and blah blah blah" or "They can never replicate the real thing"....make up your f***in' minds then. Is EA going a little over the top with their marketing...ehhh, yeah maybe....but damn, are they at least trying to deliver an authentic experience to satisfy you whiny little f*gs...YES THEY ARE. I'm a 29 yr old Soldier who's been playing games since the 80's and I understand where they come from, appreciate where they are today and am excited about where they will be heading in the future. You Gamers just "born into technology" haven't the slightest clue what your talking about most of the time. Yes, I agree their marketing tactics are a bit dramatic BUT I don't mind it enough to make me judge the game or waste my time slandering it all over the forums. Make up your minds...or Developers will keep making them up for you.
Reminds me of the Ghost Recon Future Soldier video where this Matt Something spec-ops-shitpants guy told us how authentic that game is.
You know, right before "Coco" underpinned that statement.
Say, do UbiSoft and EA by any chance get a cut for each ill-minded teen that signs up to serve in the military after playing one of their crappy "authentic and realistic" shooters ?
They'll have a hard time after their first real life "bulletsponge / autoheal" experience.
Laughable, just laughable.
I just don't understand why gamers are always so angry at everything.. I hate the fact that i'm part of this disgusting community.
Tier one soldier thats been paid by EA doesnt count and niether does Linkin Park doing your music lol.
Want to see what happens if 1 man is truly against all odds in a game supposed to be realistic?
Grab a copy of ARMA 2, go into Editor mode. Put 50 Ai with highest aiming difficulty for them on the map in a town somewhere. Put them in the middle of the town at random spots (which is even more interesting than Medal of honor because you can make them spawn in completely randomised locations in the town and never know where they are.)
Then have a player start at one side of the town, put a marker on the other side of the town at the point you want to get to, to make it like Medal Of honor. Now get to the marker THROUGH the 50 Ai by yourself.
Good friggin luck getting to the marker on your own with no Ai ally help in ARMA 2 without careful scouting and an understanding where the enemy is. Thats a game based on realism and authenticity. EA games have never been about realism adn authenticity, accept for maybe BF1942 and DDay in Allied Assault.
Gamers get to experience the good parts? "Good" is an interesting term used to describe killing people. I'd imagine the real good part of war is when there is no war? I don't think simulated war could even come remotely close to real war, but EA will try to remind us of how awesome war is! Seriously EA, can we just ban you from making war games? First, correct me if I'm wrong, you had, "buy guns for wounded vets because that seems like a good idea, no no, don't donate to the vets, just buy guns!" that didn't pan out, now your trying to tell us how awesome war is (excluding the dirt and sweat which does suck, I hate being sweaty while I'm being shot at). What's your next great idea? Loaded magnums for tots at Christmas?
@stan_boyd Dude xD Medal of Honor Is nothing like COD LMAO. If you think that then you don't deserve to be playing any type of FPS Games, stick to Kiddie games lmfao.
@GetafixOz damn ur right.haha they should make games which is 100 % similar to RL,then everytime theyd die,they have to make new player/account.hahhaa bet no one would come out from their hideouts.
@gmromero maybe they would.hahaha nice.
@gmromero lol not bad
@deadpeasantHe's protecting his identity. He's Rofo, one of the Australian Special Forces They interviewed in previous videos
@Zonno And even those games are nothing compared to the real thing.
@Izz_Tip-C Thats not authentic either
@Zulu1Tango @Armyboy5 Yeah well if you are gonna make a game that plays exactly like Call of Duty don't try and say that its the most Authentic War Game Ever, because its not, its simply another twitch shooter. This might be a good game, I won't know cause I won't buy it, I got sick of CoD after Black Ops. But this marketing is just plain lying. Its like me trying to sell a car saying its as fast and exotic as a ferrari when its really just a mini van.
@Armyboy5 hahaha finally some1 sez it.hahaha u truly are right bro..i find it interesting to read though,coz its more like reading funny/comedy stuff...
@nyran125 I see. But even arma isn't realistic. Its just MORE realistic than this. No shooter is. Fact
whats funny is Medal of honor isnt even realistic at all. I dont think they should be saying that its realistic in ANY way or form when nothing built in the game from teh ground up is meant to be realism.
@---Cipher--- when he said that gamers experience the good parts , he had just got done talking about how we dont feel the injuries , getting tired, ect. i think he just phrased it wrong,t i think he just meant that the good parts were..not getting tired, injured ect. not actually killing ppl. They should have caught this and had him re-speak, because i will agree, it does sound bad.
go play ArmA 2 suckers..
@darkvalen No? Lets see you have regenerating health like CoD, you have modern weapons like CoD and you shoot people like CoD so whats the part I am missing. Oh yeah it has online competitive matches like CoD, experience points for killing people so you can get better gear like CoD, hmmm nope nothing like CoD. Did you even play the last medal of honor game?
@stan_boyd No shit? In the end they're all just VIDEO GAMES. The type of authenticity you want would require you to go outside with an M16 and mow down everyone in sight.
@Izz_Tip-C Yeah Arma is pretty damn difficult as its as close to real as a game can get, probably why it has a small fanbase.
@stan_boyd Refer to my last comment.
I've never played but I've heard DCS and Arma are supposed to be as close to what your describing as you can get. What do you think?
@Izz_Tip-C Rainbow 6 for one doesn't exist its a fake organization so no authenticity there. Second its got regen health and you troops can carry a retarded amount of ammunition which you need to fight the unrealistic amounts of hostiles you have to kill in every level.
@stan_boyd @Par4doX_ @darkvalen i dont get the problem...its not like we must play only one,or like only one,u can even choose not to play at all.if u like MOH,fine go play MOH,still u can play COD.vice versa.... or is it money that ur arguing coz u cant get to buy both games,and play them both with no problems our "arguing" at all..?i play all type of games,some i like,some i dont, but i never argue bout them..learn to appreciate,its hard to develop games these days, but fortunately,they still do..its hard coz people's mind are getting more complex than before,too demanding...
@Par4doX_ @darkvalen I don't give a crap about the graphics, I care about the gameplay and if everything plays out just like a CoD game then to me its a clone. There are lots of FPS games that play differently, Borderlands, Metro 2033, Halo they all have differences, other than graphics, but Medal of Honor and CoD are both modern warfare shooters with the same gameplay.
