Random Encounter - Mirror's Edge
Cam and Seb hop, skip, and jump their way across the rooftops in Mirror's Edge.
As a whole game it wasn't that great, but I think it's the reason developers started re-imagining how first person shooter games should interact with the gamer.
Probably the only game this gen I've finished in one sitting. Not because it was short (although it was) or easy (sorta, in the medium difficulty setting), but because it was so awesome and I couldn't let go. And then we had the time trials, which were brutal and addictive. You know what? I'm definitely playing this game again VERY soon.
This is why i just couldn't get into this game, it aims to be free roaming but everything feels so scripted.
I actually loved this game. Except for the end which just made it into a normal FPS. I would love to see a sequel on next gen.
Made the mistake of watching this hungover, which as it turns out is a perfect way to make yourself feel sick.
I really love this game though.
great game, very unique. one of the most unique fps games ever played, hopes are high for mirror's edge 2, hopefully a next gen gem
wow this game gets so much love here. personally i found the controls too unresponsive at times and the combat too clunky and i didn't finish it.
My only quip about the mechanics in this game, as a traceur myself (practitioner of parkour), you don't lose momentum when rolling, the idea behind rolling is to transfer energy from the fall into sprinting and continuing forward; whereas in Mirror's Edge it slows you down. My ONLY quip. Oh and the gun combat...but who used guns anyways. Pacifist ftw.
Beautiful atmosphere/music/gameplay/setting. Top 5 of all time.
Love design level, environment, soundtrack, and many aspect. Makes my brain explode with joy, for me its one of best game. I wish dev make sequel or game similar like this.
This was a fun game. But some of the jumping puzzles were downright annoying. They seriously broke the flow of the game. Also, if I were faith I would have picked up a holster from one of the downed guards so I could carry around at least a pistol.
One of the best games ever. Its a shame many people didn't get to play it. I surely do hope they have a sequel.
seeing this game again makes me happy somehow :) platting mirror's edge on ps3 for me was like unlocking all cheat modes for golden eye on n64 - *incredibly* hard and time consuming but one of the most satisfying experiences I had in games. I really hope for a good sequel ...
It actually doesn't aim to be free roaming at all.
@Zloth2 This game would be great with the OR for sure
@Palmer1967 yes 5 YEARS ago. I honestly don't think EA was so degenerate back then. This game is beautiful. It still sets the standard for first person mechanics.
@Saketume except, they're called lifts ;)
@guisasso A little late to reply, but people did play it as much as they played the first Dead Space. Both games were released around the same time and sold 2M in roughly 2 years. But for some reason, Dead Space lived on and we, those who loved Mirror's Edge (no one merely likes it, IMO it seems that people either loved or hated it) got the shaft.
@guisasso i want to see a sequel but i'm affrayed if this is happen it's going to be the same as darksiders, the 1st one was epic and underrated and the second not bad but nothing to do with the 1s... but know that Mirror"s edge 2 is on the way...
@flameon12346 I wouldn't say they have a large fanbase, but the fans are true ones.
@Uloset Mirror's Edge 2 pl0x.
@Uloset turst me, ur not alone !! :)
