Quick Look: Divinity: Original Sin
Watch extended gameplay footage from Divinity: Original Sin featuring the Giant Bomb crew.
this turned based BG (BG was turn-based too as gameplay, on max difficulty lots of pause-commands-resume turns) is throwing the glove to Bioware. Dragon Age was a masterpiece, DA2 was a total console disaster. Maybe this game will force Bioware to stop with "low-brain" console approach and deliver a DA Inquisition similar to first DA. And perhaps they will stop simplify their games. Even my stupid dog can finish Mass Effect 3 when he's sober
I had GPU temp problem when I play D:OS. Had no issues when playing other AAA+ games, and its funny when you alt+tab to check your Google Chrome, the GPU temp drops down drastically. alt+tab back to game again, the temp shoots up.
The interim solution was to set the frame cap. Anyways, the game so far so good. Rich setting. hopefully they fix the issues.
I usually LOVE turn-based RPGs..but I cant see this game being played other way but the good old Baldurs Gate controls..
I'm glad many people seem to be playing and having a good experience. But myself - and many people in the forums on Steam - are not. Maybe the game out of the box works fine??? I've bought many games on Steam that work seamlessly, but right now I can't play this for even 10 minutes before it freezes or crashes. I figure they will get it fixed ... eventually. Should have bought it elsewhere I guess, but I don't want to put out another 39 dollars.
The forums on Steam are full of people having problems. Most games I get off Steam I have zero issues. Maybe the games out of the box work fine??? However, right now, I can't play for even 15 minutes before it freezes or crashes. I really want to play this thing ... but right now it won't go.
Divinity: Original Sin is the sting in the back of Bioware...
After playing D:OS or more than 100 hours I have only little interest to play Dragon Age: Inquisition anymore.
i agree with below comment.
just like in this week podcast..giant bomb dudes don´t really get divinity or seem to have fun with it
i think on the other hand kevin V. has more passion for it, just like i do.
jesus, such a great game and the giant bomb crew just babbling over it semi-annoyed....
if they like they game it doesnt come across, the sound bored...
The game is not ready yet. Many players encountering crashes ... freezing ... lost saves ... other issues.
Otherwise would be a great game. Don't recommend buying it until these issues are resolved.
I'm loving this game so far. I almost feel lost because there is so much going on. Also, if you hate reading, I suggest not getting this one. In the first hour or so, and I feel like I have read a small novel. Good thing that I love to read.
@solatron This is not new at all..uncapped framerate usually does this since it can strain the GPU to go "all out" as they say to give as much FPS as the card can handle. That is why when you alt tab it goes back into safe mode (this is if you play fullscreen and not fullscreen/windowed).
Vsync is usually what you can enable in games to put some reigns on the GPU.
@jalen_222 Perhaps you should try lowering your settings?
@jalen_222 I have 105 hours on the game, not one issue with crashing or freezing, fix ya comp
@LordCrash88 Yup cosign, I have no want to play the new dragon age, would much rather play more Divinity and also Wasteland 2 next month.
@LordCrash88 You can't compare DA:OS with Inquisition, first OS was a shitty game, but the first DA was ok! And looks like Inquisition is going to be a different experience from all the other DA, so you can't say no to Inquisition yet ;)
And people should stop comparing DA with Divinity because it is not the same game style or even the same f**king game! It's like saying Halo with Skyrim!
I think this is what enthusiastic sounds like for brad:) I've played my fair share of RPGs but far from hardcore. Thought the video was incredibly fun and informative for me. I will definitely be trying this game out.
@jalen_222 I personally have not had any issues at all while playing, nor has my Sons pc who we both have been playing this game Coop. Great game so far. cant say enough good about it.
@jalen_222 Many is relative. 1000 people complain, 199,000 people not. Also, show me one RPG or even one bigger game that is bug-free at release. I don't know any...
I'm more than 120 hours in the game now and I only had some minor issues. For a game with such a high degree of freedom the game is incredibly polished and stable.
The only known issue is a savegame crash on 32bit OS systems with only 4GB RAM. Imo they should have just made the game 64bit only in the first place (like many other games this year) but they are already working hard to fix the bug.
@jalen_222 It's a problem on your side.
I finished the game in 93 hours and I have had only 2 game crashes..but no save games crashes and I am an avid QuickSave spammer.
@jalen_222 15 h gametime not one bug !!! Maybe you should update your pc and clean your disc.
Buy the game now or you will regred it.
@jalen_222 Not had any issues with this at all.. not one bug.. not lost saved games.. nothing. I am now about 20 hours into it.
This game is well worth buying for anyone who likes this style of rpg its one of the best I have played in a very lnog time.
It's great mate--super addictive.
9/10 thus far; 'bout 30hrs in.
What I love most is the strategising. It's really important to use your surroundings. If a group of enemies is standing in water, zap 'em with electricity and they'll be stunned. No water? Then cast a rain spell, etc.
A couple of times I got into a hairy pick and if I'd approached it conventially, I wouldve been owned.
I recommend it!
@tommynj Best rpg of the last 5-10 years easy, imo, The combat is just brillant and takes alot of strategy and you have a ton of options. Doesn't hold you're hand like all these modern rpgs either which is nice.
@tommynj this game is good by a lot of reviews and its really big so that's why i guess gamespot hasn't reviewed it yet
@kwonton412 and yet it's just a quick look. Gives you an idea how long this game is.
the overall experience of DA.OS is better then DA:O DA2, Skyrim to me.
Who cares if is not the same syles . When i play im looking for a feeling no to perfectly catalog something.
