was this really necessary? I mean this is quakecon not firstpersonshooter con or even E3 con. Its obvious Call of Duty is dictating the success despite the crap quality of the game series itself and 2003 tech. Its also obvious that thanks to microsoft rushing the console generation in 2005, about two to three years before much more decent GPUs were available that we are basically dealing with consumers who are vocal but don't really care or will not buy fps games that push the gameplay or tech (see Call of Duty)
Hey Willits, your core fan base doesn't want dark brown corridors, they want fast, skill based death match with air rockets and strafe jumps.
I have a perspective on the first person shooter genre. It's called same, same, same, and same. How about an FPS that isn't about some &%$#@ elite covert combat battalion somewhere in &%$#@ Nigeria. "Yeah man, second squad move ahead to the right and flank 'em! Pew! Pew! Lock and load! Blah! Blah! Blah! Pew! Pew! Yo Chuck, turn on your night vision man! Pew! Pew! Oh Christ they have us surrounded! Hey Vinnie pull out your Napalm Hippie Popper and fire it at those guys. Pew! Pew! $%&+#! Christ man! Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Yo, yo Adrian, are you okay over there? Blah! Blah! Blah! ADRIAN!!!!!! Pew! Pew! Blam! Blam! Pew! Blam! Pew! Blam! Blam! Pew!".
