@theshonen8899 I understand that, but Kojima is the one who has given the power to PlatinumGames in order to make this something special.
@ChrisHellas The majority of people aren't skeptical because the game doesn't have Solid Snake. They are skeptical because it has turned into a pure hack 'n slash game. Many MGS fans (like myself) were hoping for an action/stealth hybrid because that's what we were led to believe we'd be getting before Platinum got involved. I have no problem with Raiden, I just wish Platinum wasn't developing this.
Come on every one knew the next game wouldent be with Solid Snake i liked playing with Raiden in MGS2 and it was my favorite game i wished for a nother game with Raiden.Wait for the game to come out to say that the game will be crap only coz it isnt Solid Snake i remember ppl yelling at the comments of MGS4 like who is that old guy? yet it got a 10/10 dont rush in conclusions. By a real MGS fan-
@Albaficas I must respectfully disagree. having players pretty much do the same exact stuff that was done in MGS1 (aside from defusing bombs) then saying "It was all a VR Simulation!" was a ball tap to fans. It was good when it comes to gameplay and such. I just did not like the story too much and was relieved when they released Snake Eater and brought the game back to where it was meant to be. Playing as some form of Snake and bringing down terrorist.
Even though people invent crazy words or spellings for video games all the time, and even though it is completely irrelevant to what this video is about, the word "revengeance" is not a made up word, it is an obsolete word, first used in the late 1400's and falling out of use by the early 1900's. Am I an English professor, no, I took 5 seconds on google to look it up so I didn't shoot my mouth off about something I didn't know.
Philly1UPer the story was fine imo the negativity of mgs2 was raiden and thas it The majority hates raiden
@donkey0007 MGS2 was a success...in the units sold, but when it came to the actual story and, main character and how it was just MGS1 with better graphics, it was pretty much torn to shreds by the fans. So yes. It was a success in sales, but when it comes to the story, main character and such, it was a success, because if it was, you wouldn't be seeing the negativity surrounding that game today that is voiced by the fans.
@DemannameD the same could be said to the man who first wrote "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". People invent new words, sometime with success & sometimes not, we just need to get over it
@gugagomes7 I'll be honest and say that I only watched that interview once so you're probably right. I just got the impression that they were no longer actually involved in the project from any kind of creative position, especially considering how disappointed in themselves the KP team sounds since they unfortunately proved that Kojima Produtions does need Hideo to lead it. I kind of feel bad for Hideo Kojima though; just because no matter how happy I am to know that there will be an MGS5 (not revengeance, an actual Metal gear solid sequel) the poor guy has tried to let other competent people take over for him in this series but no one (including the fans and me) wants to let anyone else touch the core franchise because we don't really know of anyone that could make that kind of game as well as he has. as a fan i hope he keeps making them as long as he breathes since he hasn't made a bad one yet (im only talking about mgs1 to mgs4), but i do feel for him because he probably wants to branch out and do different things wtth his career
I don't care that they made up a word, as people say it, it just shows that they are being creative. Doesn't matter if any of us could have thought of something better, it's just the fact that they made it different and unique. As a fan of the Metal Gear series, I am excited about Metal Gear Rising. And as for other people, the series isn't called Metal Gear Solid, it is Metal Gear. Solid was added later in the more current games (MGS, MGS2, MGSTS, MGS3, MGSA, MGSPW, MGS4)
I think my first question would have been, "with all the words in the English dictionary almost 480,000 of them... why are you making up words?"
@theshonnen8899 Actually to correct you, Metal Gear solid 2 was a Best selling game with worldwide, Critical acclaim. It was a marvellous game? Even if its you opinion its a pathetic one if you look at the facts. But it wasn't a failure, chose you words correctly.
@gugagomes7 He did but many of the people from Kojima are still working on the project. The main people from Kojima that were working on the project. It is a joint project now.
Kojima said he wanted the players to play Raiden like he did in MGS4 by being acrobatic and fast paced, and you can't really fit the stealth in with that. 2:06 Kojima Productions also said there were problems balancing the action, stealth, level design, and the concept to freely cut through anything and everything. 4:42, 5:13, 6:42 They moved the game's story after MGS4 so that Platinum Games felt more comfortable and had more freedom designing the gameplay and not be held back by the story. 17:14 And again Kojima Productions is still doing the story and cutscenes. 18:42 Interview link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gV1BMUg4NsA Gameplay Montage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECVmG-KNI3Y&feature=endscreen&NR=1 Really it's just like the original Rising, just faster paced and with added effects. And the enemies actually look like they put up more of a fight, unlike the original Rising where it looked far too simple. Plus this game is still quite early in development so you graphic whores don't need to worry.
jayd02 in that same video you'll notice that hideo kojima took the project away from kojima productions and then as you said picked platinum to make the game from that point onwards. However after giving Platinum their work/vision kojima productions no longer had any development role, so when people are bummed over it becoming a platimun game rather than KP game is because they know that it's not going to run on the MGS engine and wont look or feel like an mgs game, along with the fact that it will probably going to be an action hack and slash rather than the deep experience we all love and know. if you look at the old and new trailers thats exactly what you can see as you compare them
Vanquish was boring after a while and bayonetta sucked, but I still think that this game still has a shot at being metal gear worthy. crossing my fingers.
@caboose84 Actually, those thumbs down ARE meant to show who agrees and disagrees with you. The bar to the right of the thumbs up and down option is for modding people for things that don't meet criteria.
The E3 demo still looks better graphically and game play wise then this. This really just looks like another mindless hack and slash game, but will have 30 minute cutscenes more then likely. If I want a mindless hack and slash game that is actually good and will have some kind of challenge to it, I'll stick with Ninja Gaiden. Not trashing this game like other users are, Im just calling it how I see it. and you can bring up "Well, He is a cyborg Ninja and this isn't Metal Gear SOLID" Thing is, Gray Fox was pretty damn stealthy as he was running around Shadow Moses tearing that place to hell and Ninjas are sopose to be stealthy...hence all the strict training they would go through so that they couldn't be detected as they kill their target and move on.
I am guessing that the people who are mad at Konami for working with Platinum haven't yet seen the video that Gamespot put that explained why Hideo personally picked Platinum over other game companies. They did it in the best interest of the game. The game is being made by both companies now not just one so its not like its going to be just a Platinum game. Please do some research before you go posting things. http://www.gamespot.com/metal-gear-solid-rising-revengeance/videos/birth-and-evolution-metal-gear-rising-revengeance-video-6347606
Stop bashing the freakin' game it ain't even out yet. How would you know that it will suck its not yeven out yet. I don't think any company sets itself to fail and they would not hand over a franchise as popular as MGS to have another company screw it up so enough with the whinning, judge the game when it comes out. Would younrather they stop production and not release anything anytime soon? If it flops at least they tried to satisfy fanboys just by releasing the game. If they cancelled the project then people will whine bout it being cancelled. People are so incredibly hard to please.
@Anarchist93 Who knows they might even implement a stealth camo as an upgrade or something seeing as Gray Fox had it.
@Anarchist93 ok your a perfect example of all the idiots here. it is a SPINOFF. a damn spinoff doesn't have to be stealth jeez. mgs5 is still coming out so stop your damn b*tching already and wait for that game. As for me, im going to pick up this amazing game.
I'm better off translating the conversation myself. Anyway, I cant wait for this game. Day1 buy for me.
LOL no wonder it looks like Vanquish + Bayonetta + Metalgear it is Being developed by PlatinumGames.
liked it better wen konami were making it.. dont want a hack n slash game.. i want stealthy cyborg ninja.. which were what ninjas were... stealthy.
@Roronoa_Zoro117 I agree with you. My only problem is Kojima Productions canceling it after all this time then handing it over to Platinum Games to finish it. After investing this much time in it Kojima should've just finished it rather than pass it off. Now that he can focus on MSG 5 how will it be before that one is released now? Cause now he has no excuses.
For the millionth time stop bashing the game because simply it is not a Metal Gear Solid game, it is Metal Gear Rising...... The whole design changed even the frame rate is going to be 60.
I love how he explains that they are a small studio, so each employee does the work of 2.5 people. And they don't have "meetings" because everyone already knows what the other person is doing. Should apply this philosophy to my own work habits.
If I was in this press conference, I would have stood up and shouted: "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING!"
I liked the game back when it had a life-like cinematic presentation, but now it's like a slice n dice shlock fest with cheesy one-liners. Konami is gonna suffer sales because of this...
im still interested in this game. i just wish the title was a little different (remove that lame "revengeance" subtitle already) , and that the story still took place in between 2 & 4.
1. You guys do realize that Free Cutting is still in the game along with Zandatsu, right? 2. Kojima Productions is still doing the story and cutscenes. (I wouldn't be surprised if the story featured some flashbacks explaining how Raiden became a Cyborg and why his Jack the Ripper persona has resurfaced) 3. The tagline has always been LIGHTNING BOLT ACTION, so I'm not sure why most of you are upset about no stealth, hell we never even saw stealth in the original trailer. 4. Game runs at 60fps instead of 30fps now. (Which Kojima said is what he wanted back then) 5. It's a spin off not MGS5, so it isn't "ruining the MGS series" Even the original MGR had MGS fans hating on it because it featured Raiden as the main character and its gameplay. Well I'm happy with this game, since I've always wanted to play as Cyborg Raiden and just slice stuff up, and with Platinum developing this game its going to be so awesome. Though the only problem I have with the game is the music.
Dudes, Gamespot should refresh content more often. 2 days now I check the site and it's still the same stuff. Come on! work work work! More games previews! and less "we did this, we did that" stuff.
@bubbalooga And again, Shinji Mikami also has nothing to do with this. He has since left Platinum Games to make his own studio, Tango Gameworks.
@bubbalooga Even if Kojima has "never failed us" (MGS 2 was fail imo), Kojima and Kojima Productions have nothing to do with Revengence, just Platinum Games.
