Word has it that 3 "Anonymous" members may be facing some hard time; Spanish Police have made an arrest in connection to the recent PlayStation Network attacks. One of the three “hacktivists,” a 31-year-old Spaniard, was detained in the southern city of Almería sometime after May 18, the police said. He had a computer server in his apartment in the northern port city of Gijón, from which the group attacked the Web sites of the Sony PlayStation online gaming store. The two other men, both also Spanish and in their early 30s, were picked up in Barcelona and Valencia. All three Spaniards have been released pending formal charges -- charges related to forming an illegal association to hack/attack public and corporate web sites, which could potentially land them each 3 years in the clink. It isn't entirely clear what role they allegedly played in the PSN attacks, whether they were the ones who actually hacked into PSN servers and stole customer data, or if they were simply firing off DDoS packet. Either way it's not looking good.
But any publicity is good publicity, right ? Well any-who when the network is back up the downtime will soon be a distant memory. Like by Sept 2011.
Am I the only one who thinks PSN being offline is being taken too seriously?, our info's relatively safe and offline for 6 weeks is no big deal, play some offline games like most of us did last-gen. Free month PS Plus and 2 free games sound good to me.
Great... I thought that GameSpot was the best website for news, with people who take it a bit more seriously when compared to a lot of other sites out there. Not anymore, I guess. :( Sure some humour is good but this is just bullcrap. It seems that it has become popular for all English-speaking/British websites to employ hipsters. Also, an Xbox fanboy delivering PSN news? Way to start a war GS! I can already see loads of fanboys from both consoles running to these comments and flooding them with trolling, ignorant comments etc.
