The last 15 minutes of Journey are among the best i've ever played, this was such an amazing experience, i'm really glad it won.
The only good thing about Journey was the graphics. It shouldn't have won this award. Walking Dead should've won.
I'm glad that Journy won.Purchased it yesterday along with Unfinished Swan (another wonderful psn title). Tonight, when i return from work, i'll start my first playthrou ...:)
Journey all the way. Can't believe anybody topped Flower as the greatest game of all time but it has happened. I cried the entire game and even a little bit when I was done. Probably the greatest emotional journey I have ever embarked on. I would pay thousands of dollars for Journey 2.
If Journey hadn't won, I would've been forced to travel to the Gamespot offices just to slap all of them. Thankfully they spared me that.
Was torn between this and Walking Dead. Can't complain either way. Both are great, off-the-beaten-path games
CORIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINTHINAS CORIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINTHINAS CORIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINTHINAS
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS
having played both, must say strongest point of the walking dead is story. its dark and mature and is awesome. its as good as say a movie or a novel, but less than those in terms of story. also a lot of game time is spend in watching story unfold. gameplay is not a highlight.
journey is really unique in the sense, there is no story to tell. its similar to demon's souls in that respect. its brings together visuals and music and gameplay as well that makes it a truely unique and mesmerising experience. technically, I feel these are qualities of game of the year.
I feel like The Walking Dead deserves it more, but they already won the big GOTY title...gotta give other games a chance, right? ;D
Journey looks amazing. I have to buy that soon. I'm surprised that The Unfinished Swan wasn't at least nominated in this category.
Journey is extremely overrated, and it's more of an experience than a game. It's ultimately a linear game and the companion doesn't add anything to the game, but at least it prevents them from engaging you in some moronic conversation. All the game has going for it is the atmosphere and if you expect anything dark or thought-provoking here, think again. The Walking Dead should have won this category, especially since it kills Journey even in the one area that's supposed to be Journey's strong point: atmosphere. Where Journey provides the E for Everyone hippie experience, The Walking Dead provides emotional depth and atmosphere that touch upon what life is all about, or not about. And it does so with zombies.
this is injustice..i too want to enjoy journey..release this on pc, where are those developers..catchhhhh themm
Well-deserved for sure, although I have to say that I prefer Flower's atmosphere.
Dyad looks interesting; might see if there's a trial for it.
@x-2tha-z there is seriously something wrong with you... Or you haven't even played te game. One of both, take your pick.
@Soulreavercross Yeah. It's either The Walking Dead or Journey. Anyway, I think the reason is that Journey offers new aspect in gaming world. Something unique, serene sort of uplifting experience which is pretty rare in game these days.
@Warsilver It's so true. I feel like I've been holding my breath for days in hopes that Journey would get this award. I've put up a few signs at work asking for people to vote so I'm pumped that I may have helped the cause a bit.
@bannermanner I disagree that it is the best PS3 game ever, but DEFENITELY the game of the year. If you ask me, the only one not bought of.
I wonder how much they got payed to let dishonored win those prices.
@vaibhavp The whole point about Journey is how it tells you a story without using words. It uses images and music.
@theexperience13 dude do it now it is worth it, every time you're in a bad mood just play this and is instant awesome relaxation.
@MoronGotMyName While I agree with some of your points, what you've said doesn't convince me that you've ever played Journey in your life. It is an experience and an emotional one in a surreal beauty sort of way...but The Walking Dead is on another level entirely. Where Journey has a great soundtrack and graphics to lean on, The Walking Dead has a stunning soundtrack and the best storyline I've ever seen in games. At least play the game before you bash it. It deserves a second, but TWD shouldn't taken the win on this one. Hell, it already won GOTY.
@jemoedr Actually, Dishonored is my game of the year. Loved it.
And as far as GameSpot getting paid for GotY consideration, no. Just...no.
@Bayonetta2013 I did play Journey, I just strongly prefer dark surrealism and atmosphere. I have had similar experiences with all E-rated amospheric games, though - I can barely stand PG-13 movies as well so this is a general issue :). And while The Walking Dead is the GOTY in the VGA awards that's no reason to dismiss it in the GameSpot awards (but I am sure they didn't think like that).
@Granpire What I call pseudo-dark :)
@MoronGotMyName If you played through Journey completely, you would see plenty of darker atmosphere. It didn't need an M rating to make an impression...
