Power Gig: Rise of the SixString Story of Ohm Trailer
Get some of the backstory for Power Gig: Rise of the SixString!
the guy sounds so enthusiastic about his game..... so what exactly is it?? is it an action game? a Game akin to Guitar Hero or Rock Band...a combination of the 2 genres.....what the hell is it lol?
lets give it a chance ppl, whats the worst that could happen... at least it's more than just playing a setlist, and then going online... or doing vs battles against your friends...
NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! ANOTHER MUSIC RYTHEM GAME! AND IT DOSN'T CHANGE A SINGLE THING!
How can you expect people to get excited about your game when you sound like you're already bored with it yourself?
@jedkonyat - as i said before they have to sell the game with the controller sized model because EVERYONE has to be able to play it. forcing smaller people to play on the larger guitar isn't fair. and since we're all used to the size of the guitar hero/rock band controllers they wanted to keep things familiar. just be happy that people wanting a more authentic experience are getting the option of a full size model.
I don't know if Rock Band 3's real guitar was in developement before the announcement of this game, and I can't find any details on it (except for that ugly a$$ 150 button guitar with 5 strings at the bottom) , but I was excited about this game from the very moment it was announced. The presenter in this movie has nothing to do with how the game will go, although it might have been a bad choice on their part to let him present the story. Rock Band 3 vs. Powergig will present a tough choice , and I believe that's what it was meant to be - a choice, but I truly believe I will go with this one's Guitar, since it seems like it was mainly developed for real string play instead of the Rock Band 3's guitar behind just another peripheral that they don't even want to elaborate on since it probably doesn't work very well...
Rock Band 3 will destroy any competition, but this game is no competition to any rythm game released till today!
@Nosnitsttam then why not just release the full sized model? it is better to hold a real sized guitar than a small one
I thought this was going to be like Rockband, but with advanced tech, it seems as if this is leaning towards the Brutal Legend kind of look.
engadget.com has a pretty decent article on this game and the peripherals, as does cnet. this video should be pulled since it gives gamers absolutely NO info on why this game looks cool or any reason to get excited for it. as the underdog in the music game business, they really need to put a strong foot forward or people will just rip them apart (as seen in the comments) or ignore them completely, no matter how great the finished product may or may not be.
@jedkonyat - the original guitar IS basically a kids guitar (it's designed to be played by people of all sizes after all), but there is a full-size model that will be made available either at launch or a later date. and the controller can still be plugged into an amp and played as a real guitar.
playing a real guitar is better, sure the controller has strings but its like a childs guitar...here comes sissies saying that their fingers hurt from playing...but thats really the point
for those who don't know, the games guitar controller is basically a real (albeit smaller) guitar. yes, it can also play like a guitar hero controller but it has an advanced mode where you ACTUALLY PLAY THE GUITAR. they also have a decent selection of artists, most of which have steered clear of the other music titles due to the lack of a real instrument. don't get me wrong, i love the original guitar hero and rock band games, but it is time they did something new. i hope this turns out well. early hands-on reports from other sites have been positive about the guitar/vocal experience, but the drums are...interesting to say the least (it's AIR DRUMMING). as for this video? the guy seemed like he was stoned, or otherwise disinterested in his own project. he probably lacks any and all social skills and that WAS him being excited. but other developers have been more excited for games that looked worse than this.
This game looks like crap. The only good thing would be the Master Recordings which Rock Revolution didn't have. Besides that, it looks even worse than Rock Revolution.
Who gives a fu** about all environment crap, just explain the game mechanics and get people interested instead.
I see this going the way of Rock Revolution. In 2 months on sale to 20$ for a give away. It's appealing in the sense that there may be some new music involved in the sound track, but does not look promising
