You guys are just being crybabies. If more people buy a PS4 then it's really good for us hardcore gamers won't have to worry about crybabies on our servers!! :D
i'll have to try and get my hands on one to check it out then, coz to me the controller is one probably the most important thing for me in games if your going to be sitting there for a few hours playing. Still do prefer the xbox stick positions but if the ps4 controller is a bit chunkier and with better triggers that could make make my mind up :D cheers for the reply m8
The way I see it, all these companies want a 100% digital download model. There was a time people actually bought CD's, now we download music easy. It's more convenient, we cant deny that. Back in the day people resisted it because that same argument about ownership popped up. Today, we like our digital downloads. Apple taught us that we can have that sense of ownership by creating devices and a ecosystem that we would love. Google followed suite and with Apple in the lead, they revolutionized how we purchase music and other forms of content LEGALLY. We don't buy Blu-ray, we download and stream via Amazon, Apple, Xbox live, PSN etc. What makes us think games wont follow? That's the next step. MS rules seems oppressive, but what I notice is that it applies heavily to physical media. They are discouraging the handling of it in all it's forms. They set up a system where that from day one, you CAN DOWNLOAD your game straight off the cloud, and then you are allowed to create a list of friends to whom you can share your entire game library if you so choose. Now lets put this into perspective, 10 of my friends have me on their list, & they accumulate x amount of games over time, now how many games can I have w/o paying a dime for? Even if only one person can play a game @ a time, THAT IS IMPRESSIVE! The logic is, if you buy a physical disc and loaned it out, you can no longer play that disc until it's returned to you. Read between the lines and don't fall victim to rhetoric and fear. Just my opinion. I'm beginning to like this system.
I hate to do this, I really do...but back in the day I didnt argue if Atari was better then Oddysee then NES was better than Sega Master System. You would be ridiculed just for admitting you played "video games". We should all be happy that since the days of SNES and Genesis that we've had TWO great systems to play on. No one system is clearly better than the other. Both will have great games. Both will sell in the millions. People will be happy with their purchase. People will be unhappy. A lot of people will own both. None of us will "lose". And we will begin the cycle again in another 8 to 10 years....
To everyone saying that they don't like having to pay for ps+ I hear ya I really do.all I have to say is YOU WILL BE AMAZED by the amount of games and stuff you get from being a ps+ member . and this will help sonys chat and overall functionality even better.
Personally I think the black color for the Xbox One looks better than the black color used on the PS4.... Sorry I was waiting to see an argument started over more menial things but I couldnt find a new one. So, flame on!!
Pay to play online for both consoles?
Thanks i ll stick with my pc which 10 times faster than those crap
Bickering aside.... what ever happened to virtual reality? I remember a Popular Mechanics mag (which I still may have in my attic) that had a Sega Genesis VR headset on the front cover. Eventually it said the technology and processing wasnt up to par to run this stuff.... what about now? Some of these games on the Xbox One and PS4 look freaking amazing....
The X1 looks pretty cool, albeit I think requiring an internet connection is weird and just unnecessary. I will be getting a PS4 because PlayStation is what I've always had and I don't see a need to make a change now. However, I'm pretty disappointed about needing to pay for online play and I will definitely be rethinking how I play games. If paying a monthly or yearly fee prevents hacks and other things that disable PSN it might be worth it.
I am actually NOT happy about PS4's partnership with UStream and XBox One getting Twitch.tv :( WTF Sony!?! Don't you understand that ALL Gamers watch Twitch, what the hell is UStream anyway? Now I have to go discover a new game streaming website. I just pray that they will have the bandwidth to support me streaming multiple 1080p+ streams at once, I have 30mbps D/L they have better have the same or better Upload to me.
@ExcaLi-burrGA It does make the work day go by quicker.
@mick_holland Don't forget about the impulse triggers and the microscopic deadzones now on the new xbone controller.. Also the new formatted headset plugins.
@TechGoblin They get a lot of flack because of their mind for hte future and watching of market trends. People fear what they dont understand, and unfortunately most ps gamers dont understand much it seems lol.
@TechGoblin Rhetoric!! Thats the damn word I was trying to think of yesterday, lol. Unfortunately this "rhetoric" begins to be spouted as fact...
@TechGoblin You are making excuses for them. I never buy music from apple or google for that specfic reason "you don't own it" I still buy the cd or use a site where I own it.
@TechGoblin Rather have my DRM disc based for console gaming. Save download for PC.
That one advantage is not worth the rest of the crap that comes with it.
@blackbeltjones very well said
@blackbeltjones the xbox's black is sooooooo much better!
@Seifer24 If $50 or $60 per YEAR is what's keeping you from enjoying online console games, which right now are superior to online PC games in terms of cross platform chat and player to player communications, then you have bigger problems than which console to play. You need employment.
@Seifer24 Then why comment at all... Basically your PC comment means nothing to console gamers... Maybe I should go to an NHL forum and complain about rebounds and 3 point shooting percentage...
@blackbeltjones Oculus Rift my friend. The wildcard. It's currently only a PC thing. We have free online too. Think about it.
@blackbeltjones Look into google glass. It is actually pretty neat. It uses that kind of technology and is the first step to a true real virtual reality.
@Captain2Nice I've had my PS3 for years and a few of those without PS Plus. They offer so much free stuff it is definitely worth getting in my opinion.
@Captain2Nice Now this is PS fan that I appreciate. Someone who is sticking to system because he enjoys the games and has been a part of that experience for some time. That I can respect. I just wish everyone had a good reason like this, rather than infantile rants about peoples moms etc....
@Captain2Nice Yeah i wasn't happy about the hacking... At first I was pissed that PSN was down until I realized why.. then I was slightly nervous. Thankfully nothing came of it except we lost a few months of PSN. Purchasing one system or another is not a bad thing. Both will be good. I always tell people when they ask me what they should buy for a laptop (for some reason everyone in my life treats me like i work at Best Buy), if all they are going to do is email and facebook then they can get the cheapest one they can. No point in having all that extra stuff for extra money when you WILL NEVER NEED IT OR USE IT. I would say the same for consoles. You want more than games, get a One. You want just games without the "frills" get a PS4... Pretty simple decision making....
@VitoNick81 I don't watch Twitch.
@VitoNick81 >have to enter different url, end of the world
>first world problems
@razz624 @TechGoblin good for you, I have a friend she's a dj and she collects vinyl. basement is filled to the roof with them. Point is you have the right to support who want to. I'm not going to say to you, you're trying to find excuses to hate on digital downloads, despite the conveniences it brings.
@Wadecke @TechGoblin Piracy is killing the PC game market. Same thing can happen to console market. I don't want that. I love games too much. My ps3 and 360 are plugged in from the day purchased them. Cant remember the last time I unplugged them. My PS3 is the main culprit. Always on, power wise and internet wise. Once in a blue I'll notice the red light and then flick the switch to completely turn it off. This always on business is not an issue for me. Not everyone will have your point of view, nor mine. I'm not scared of DRM.
@Kryptonbornson @blackbeltjones Just checked it out... so my fears of never seeing virtual reality in my life may be unfounded... Personally I'd hoped for a holodeck but I can suffice with VR, lol. I never understood why it cannot become a "reality" for consumers to have this stuff by now... Computer graphics and power have come a long way since the fabled Sega Genesis VR got me interested
@iAmDeathSpank @VitoNick81 VERY different content available. If everyone already uses Twitch, UStream is obviously not going to have the same quality of players or content. Most professional gamers use twitch, I don't sign up to WATCH amateurs play. I can play with other amateurs, I want to Watch Professionals.
@TechGoblin Thats the point I try to make. Dont worry about what I want to buy and who I want to support. It doesnt affect you. And I mean you in general, not you specifically techgoblin, lol
@blackbeltjones This is getting there and this is just first generation stuff. Imagine 2 or 3 years from now when it's been in heavy use and people have loads of ideas of how to improve it and they know what works and doesn't.
@VitoNick81 @blackbeltjones @Kryptonbornson @valknight Good lord.... me and treadmill are an accident waiting to happen, lol. Seriously though it is good to see this tech actually being worked on for home use. If this tech can get to where I hope I forsee holodecks for my grandchildren at least, lol. Hopefully I can get a holodeck "game" in before I move on from this world....
@kouji03 @VitoNick81 @iAmDeathSpank LOL, ya. it ISN'T a dealbreaker for me, just upsetting... I wish I could stream to Twitch since I already use it, but getting used to UStream if I want to share is just going to have to be a necessity because I won't go to X1 JUST for Twitch.tv
Twitch is just made for gamers, while UStream is currently more for Corporate Broadcasts from what I see so far..
