Wow, cannot wait for this. I played the first Planetside and loved it. Just hope the mix up the battles a bit, the first game was fun, but the same type of facility fight over and over got old, they just need to mix it up and have open world fights, city fights, etc. Developer in the interview looks like John Cougar Mellencamp, or Ryan Adams, just saying.
@GamerOuTLaWz People who call other people "bads" or "baddies"? Immature jackasses. I love BF3, and I can't wait for Planetside 2.
way too much shlt on the screen all these damn blue lasers everywhere and mundane grey futuristic buildings. horrible. then people complain about the masterpiece that BF3 is? baddies.
I've watched the latest youtube videos in HD for the GDC event and I think it looks great - both graphically & "in theory". Almost all shooters are exactly the same these days. Same visuals, same weapons, same, same, same! Nobody has done a quality UT / Quake style game and there's a huge gap in the market there. The other huge gap is the MMO FPS where there is nothing of any use at the moment. I think this one sounds great and I'm delighted that all players will be equal - there's no better way to destroy an FPS than by making some players stronger than others.
@jaramigo i love BF3 but you honestly don't know what you're talking about... the first PS came out only like 6 months after BF1942 and if you actually played them you'd know that they're completely different games. If you want massive scale and persistent MMO-type events that are faction and server-specific then Planetside 2 is for you. Not even mentioning the fact that a server in PS had 2000 people while one in BF has 64 lol. I loved them both but you should probably read about the individual games or else you sound kind of ignorant to the facts.
@jaramigo: It's not copy-paste of Battlefield 3. It's pretty much different and it looks pretty cool and it's going to be 2,000 players! Sorry to say this man but, you are pretty much wrong just saying.
So much ignorance runs in these comments. Harhar, all shooters set in the future look the same. It looks just like another game that drew inspiration from the original Planetside. This is coming so late, even though the original happened so long ago when it wasn't too late. This game is just the original, updated. EACH MAP of Battlefield 3/Modern Warfare is the size of one Planetside base. Now imagine 4+ plus bases per continent, and at least 3 continents. Now take that 64 player limit in Battlefield, and increase it to 2,000. No joke, 2.000. Now take that limited number of vehicles per map and increase it times the number of players. This game is FTP.
A very strong improvement, visually from the video, over the first game which I played years ago. It's going to be watched on many people's list for sure, but the biggest concern I have for this game's success is trying to establish a strong community. Battlefield and Call of Duty have already established themselves as the current and next gen FPS games with millions each side supporting each other and not to mention plenty of other decent to great FPS shooters are already out here (Counter Strike, Team Fortress 2, Combat Arms, etc.). A F2P option might be the most "reasonable" method of trying to attract players, but can the game deliver enough content to make it enjoyable without having to persistently urge players to purchase premium options or subscriptions to enjoy a lot more content?
The game looks awesome, even though I never played the first. Does anybody else get the feeling it's going to be FTP due to many great looking games going that way?
game is looking really good, this one is on my radar, I enjoyed the first planetside this one looks much better. Hopefully the free to play model will keep the community strong as lack of a player-base is essentially what killed the first game which had a monthly sub. I think free to play model will keep this game viable for a long time.
