....World of Warcraft raiding anyone?? :P How to copy a game that has been succesfull for like 6/7 years.... Will SWTOR also have pvp...auctionhouses....goldsellers? :P
If this turns out to be an mmo to rival World of Warcraft (which i doubt) I'll buy it. I like Star Wars in general, but just because a franchise is popular, doesn't mean it has what it takes to make a successful mmorpg.
Hmmmmm, I thought they wanted the combat to be engaging and exciting. This video doesn't make it look like either. I assumed they were going to make it a bit more action packed, with dodging and what not.
I dont think this game is going to be great, personaly i think it is crap to walk away with solo campain! This just aint KOTOR and KOTOR was great game, and now this online crap with poor graphics and no one is complaining come on Bioware where is one player campain ??????????????????????????????'
Is refreshing to see a mmo with futuristic and tecnologic lore instead of the all fantasy games. It looks good but this style of static combat and holy trinity system just ruins the game for me, other thing that i personaly dont like are the animations all the caracteres look a bit like tin soldiers. Personaly im sick of this type of combat, but if u like this style and want something new is definitely something to look at.
battlefront 3!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...........(do I need to make it miself? grrrrrrrrrrr) please DICE, Guerrilla.....somebody get that license.....grrrrrrrrrr
I will never get tired of FPS style games, action platformers, or RTS's; but MMO style combat is just not interesting to me. I've played several MMO's and enjoyed them all, but that style of play (combat especially) just feels cumbersome to me by now. I do not want to play any more games with that target someone and use abilities style. This game looks great in all other areas, but so did The Secret World until I saw the gameplay trailer where they had a tank, a healer, and some dps. If that style of play does not bore you out of your mind then I envy you, because these games look fun and seem to have a lot of love poured into them by their devs. I just don't want to gear up my healing set in one more game.....
@ bamselinen, I agree with you I mean everyone is say TOR is another WOW clone Guild Wars 2 is more of a WOW clone than TOR Set in the same era same basic classes... That to me merits WOW clone more than Space Age Era...
@azati s, No that is not the case... Guild Wars 2 you have different instances, but not different complete stories. In SWTOR: Litterally when you start out there are sections marked off that you can't go to if your not a certain class or grouped with a certain class. So when I switch classes I am going to be able to go to those places I didn't get to go through the first time! In Guild Wars it is the same world everything open and anyone can experience anything... Replayability is boring! You are correct about gearing your toon, but that is subjective... NOT EVERYONE HAS TO BE THE BEST! I mean if you are playing to be the best yes you have to stay on the character and only play with that character... Not everyone wants to play that way... Sure I am going to have a character that I will like playing with more than another and will probably invest a lot more time in that character than any other... BUT I am a story driven MMOer I want to experience all that content in all those different classes... The reason you have probably never heard of a story MMOer is because no game out there except SWTOR has enough content to actually make a whole new MMOer and that is the story MMOer... That is something SWTOR does and is ground breaking as well for all of you who think this is just another WOW clone...
I cant see the big fuzz about GW2 just another fantasy MMO, to many of those around, yes it has good graphics but its still just meehh. That is just my opinion, never liked WOW, never liked GW1, never liked EQ2, never liked warhammer, never liked lotro, i liked EVE, liked SWG and AOC thats it. Thank god we have so much to choose from.
@Aurora268 Ok lol, but don't forget that WOW is the most played MMORPG(i don't play it), and guild wars is awesome because you don't have to pay it, that's why i said that.
oh i add it on my mmo list number1.guild wars 2 number2.tera number3.(maby if there time for it)The Old Republic kinda world of machines not my type
@russianman72685 Thats the case with Guild wars 2 then. Even different classes got different story. But making new characters when the story end is not the way to go from an MMPORPG prospective , sadly. You need to gear your toon , you need to experience high level content , in order to participate in high level content you need to spend a lot of time in mid content for gear etc etc... So , you will never have the opportunity to have 8 top notch and competitive toons ( PVE and PVP ) with this logic. But hey , if thats what matters to you , single player experience is fine by me.\ About GW2 i dont get what you mean. Want me to copy paste you a mid level open boss to see the difference? Also dont you think a raid boss of 100++ or a server vs server PVP REALLY defines what MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE RPGS should be like and make things massive epic?
@katra Why dont you see beyond your opinion for once. Different tastes and as long i i pressed to watch this video , as i do to most PC games , i had to comment as i do to most of PC games. Thats it. Its not a bash its my opinion which sadly many got the same opinion like me. Now please keep the comments on gaming and not do this personal. Do you have anything to say for the video i linked? Dont you agree that MMORPGs are not story only and what keeps you play is the content and not story in the end? Where do you disagree and what im bashing here?
@Aurora268 what I meant was that both of those games doesn't require a subscription(TOR does while GW2 doesn't) so why not play both when you only need to have 1 subscription
Glad I pre-ordered this so that I can possibly play by the end of the year. But an important question to ask ourselves is this: If the game is going to be limited upon release and people who did not pre-order the game cannot play it as soon as those who DID pre-order, then is it really a release date? Personally IMHO I dont consider a game to be released until EVERYONE can play it and there is no limit. To limit the game to pre-orders only is almost like a fancy way of saying beta testing on a higher scale. In all actuallity, a beta testing is usually the complete game but limited to the people who are enrolled in the beta testing, so how is this any different?
@AzatiS Why come here just to bash the game or are you just trying to convince yourself not to purchase?
@Tbear7130, Integrity of producers? Are you kidding me? Pre-ordering is something that has been going on for a long time... Besides that though they are doing a limited launch because they don't want to have server crashes or lag like 80% of the new MMO's have. Instead they want to take it step by step making it amazing the whole way through... That is why they did a pre-order it wasn't for money THEY HAVE EA FUNDING THEM... It was so that they could see what kind of numbers they could expect at launch. You crack me up... lol
@Azati S, In your game you are right story will end... In SWTOR I have 8 classes to explore all with their own unique story line. Each class has over 200 hours of gameplay... By the time I get through those Bioware will already have either added story on through an update or added it through an expansion either way... I am pretty sure no other MMO will compare to that story wise we got you beat NO QUESTION!!! Also, while we are all doing that Bioware will consistently be on the forums looking for ways to improve the game and make it worth playing for a long time to come! :-) BTW about your low level content in GW2 is also your a lot of your highlevel content they allow you to go to it right off the bat if you want sooo don't get to excited about that... :-)
@ Aurora268, I disagree story isn't the only thing that SWTOR has it is the best thing. In marketing the basic principle is put your best forward draw people in and then show them the rest... Besides that story is such a broad term... It consists of many sub features like Choice, Morality, Character Arch etc. So to say that all SWTOR has is story... THAT IS A HECK OF A LOT!!! However, that isn't all they have they are being innovative in the PVP as well Have you seen the new Huttball trailor LOOKS AMAZINGLY FUN! I have never seen anything like that in any other MMO. It is like bringing sports into a Fantasy game... Why? Because Bioware looks at an MMO like a world it should have entertainment and sports and all that... If story isn't enough for you check out the PVP if that isn't enough for you just wait... Bioware isn't one to sit back and say alright that is good enough... They will constantly be looking for ways to improve. The thing about Guild Wars 2 is it is a sequel so they do have a lot of things they already know people like and will implement that into their new game... SWTOR hasn't even launched yet and it is already competing with all these games that have been out there and the new ones that are sequels to games that had been out there for years. That is pretty freaking amazing if you ask me.
This and the Guild Wars 2 game make me want to try these MMO games for the first time. Looks amazing, if it's monthly fee's though i'll have to pass.
If there is STILL no release date and no rating, then odds are it will not be out in 2011 and they are trying to fix it enough to remove the disappointment that seems to hang around this game. I hate how companies are trying to focus on taking our money before the game is even released and proven. This is another example of how pre-order is a suckers endevour now. The game still has no release date and still obviously needs work/testing but they have no problem selling it for a price far above the standard price. I know a few people who have already pre-purchased, but they are so die hard, they would pre-order dookie in a Star Wars box, just because of their love for the franchise. The first thing I can already see this game lacks is the integrity of the producer.
If this is the high level - end game... I pass!! You got to look the low lvl of Guild wars 2 open world boss... which even 100+ can participate together and its even a small one lol.... http://gamescom.gamespot.com/video/6330321/guild-wars-2-demo-tequatl Compare on your own ( plus Gw2 video is really low quality ) i wont say anything else about it. Now about story , GW2 is an amazing story game with different endings as well , depends what you will choose on the way. So stop about this "Story" thing you talking all the time. This is MMORPG not RPG. Story has an end , what will make you keep playing is the games content and how polish game will be NOT story alone. Im thinking about Server VS Server in GW2 and i cant wait seriously.
@Moonhowler89 SW:TOR DOES have a subscription fee, what are you talking about? Guild Wars 2 doesn't but TOR does...I don't understand your comment :s
Why argue about SWTOR and GW2 on a tor vid and also why not play both when they come both fo them doesnt require subscription
cannot wait for this game! this video was pretty exciting, hopefully we at least get beta information soon.
@Danituga You mean between SW:TOR and Guild Wars 2...WoW has nothing to do with anything anymore...SW:TOR and Guild Wars 2 are both going to beat WoW
@Russianman72685 I know that in Guild Wars 2, they aren't making such a big deal out of their story, but THERE IS ONE! They are just not putting as much advertisement and marketing behind their story aspect of their game because that's not the only thing that they can talk about! ArenaNet have so much other things to talk about OTHER than their personalised over-arching story for each individual character. They'd rather talk about the ACTUAL game, rather than a gimick: the story (which is what Bioware is doing). Bioware realised that this game is just like any other MMO apart from the fact that its got an AMAZING story (which I know it will be because its Bioware ^^) but the problem is, that's the only thing new and impressive about SW:TOR compared to other standard MMOs like Warhammer Online or WoW, so Bioware is just putting their marketing power behind their storyline which is fair enough, but that's all they can think about saying about why they think their game is so amazing...that's not good enough for me, nothing else in that game apart from the enormous story is revolutionary enough for me. I believe that Bioware are the best RPG developers, yes, but it doesn't mean they are the best MMORPG developers unfortunately :(
@Alexrmf Yeah, true, sorry, Obsidian developed NWN2, lol, yeahh, I know, I've been meaning to play KOTOR 1 too though, well I hope I'm proven wrong for this to be an amazing game because of the fact that I don't want Bioware to let me down, but as I said in a previous post, I'm gonna be playing Guild Wars 2 over this game because of my budget at university, this is pay to play, Guild Wars 2 is just like any other game, buy once and play forever, and I'm a Guild Wars veteran anyway lol, so I gotta keep with the tradition ^^
@Aurora268: Bioware didn't make NWN2... Obsidian did, I also played all of Bioware's games, not just the new ones... started with MDK, continued with BG and went on, playing all of them. that's why I know they will make the best RPGs single-player or MMO (unless they turn DA2 and mess it all up) I would've also liked to see a KOTOR 3, but this MMO fot a lot more money and time for development, making it a huge experience - think about the fact that you'll be able to play 4 classes on each side, while KOTOR only had 1, each of those classes with it's unique origin story and NPCs oh yeah... you should definitely play KOTOR 1 and TSL (with the restoration patch)
