If you look at an 3 year old 3d game you can now see its flaws. If you look at a 2d game, it's still beautiful. That's just because we have mastered 2d. Even tho 2d has it's limitations we have taken it to the last level and created incredibly beautiful games that are almost cartoons. We don't really need to get closer to reality as much as we need to create pieces of art.
I absolutely love the fact that we live in a time in the gaming industry where 16-bit styled 2D games are made and can coexist with state of the art 3D graphics and can be appreciated as much if not more precisely for what these games are. Pixels are not longer a limitation, these are a stylistic choice.
D-Pad studios! Norway! I've been waiting for quite a while for Owlboy... At least it'll most likely be pretty polished :)
@SciFiCat Exactly, Pixels shouldn't be knocked for being cheaper to produce and craft. I feel like the same amount of love if not more is poured into these games. I love the Indie scene and proudly prefer it to many of the big budget titles clouding the market. My GOTY for the past two years have been indie titles. Hotline Miami, and The Binding of Isaac. They aren't graphically intensive, but they have such soul and spirit, and also carry pretty decent art styles they are so easy to love.
@grove12345 No they're right. Remember in Ocarina of Time when you had to knock back the deku nuts and hit the sprouts shooting at you in the great Deku tree? One of the enemies they fought in this demo was like that....and they both have owls..... Sorry Gamespot I'm reaching but really what the hell? Zelda 2 had side scrolling segments but how the hell is this like Zelda wtf.
@coop36 If you play the demo you wont think its kinda fun. you will crave for more. xD
@Sevenstorms play the demo! google it.
Then I'd suggest you've probably not being "playing" them properly.
I think it looks great !!! I think I will buy it !!!
