Those forced ADs makes me hate and avoid their products more than anything else. It's backwards psycology that's for sure.
About GW2. Great story, greta world, bad leveling system. You get to 80 and immediately lose motivation to keep playing unless you are a pvp player. PVE players get their gear nerfed in all areas besides one or two so it's basically pointless to look for better gear.
Looks more like some 'The Secret World' ad or something. Has nothing to do with the game Guild Wars 2...excepting the last few seconds that actually show the game.
I like how they make this game try and feel edgy and new, it's not, it's theme park MMO, nothing to see here, move along, I got 2 toons up to lv 57 and I just can't get myself to play the game, the dungeons are boring, the rvr is boring. I went back to playing SWTROR even though that game sucks too, I needed something to play for a bit, I guess any theme park will do.
well, as random and weird as that ad was, it did the trick...I do want to play some GW2 now (after not playing for a month).
I'm not sure what is worse...this trailer or the LotRO commercial with Gandalf yelling "You shall not, PAY!".
I thought that everyone was just being internet harsh when I looked at some of the comments, but this actually was a really bad trailer.
This trailer is so bad, I think they owe their fans an apology. Hell, I think maybe they owe the world an apology.
Bloody hell thats a rubbish trailer. Why didnt they use all the amazing artowrk like they have done in the past. The artwork is an amazing strength of this came and something even the none "Gamer" public can apreciate. Yes lots of games have gone for the live action style recently, but perconaly I was liking the diea that GW2 was setting a new president by having amazing art based trailers.
Also as comented by moc5 the transition is really poor. Where as from concept art to camplay as brilliant because you could realy see all the work that went into it. I havn't seen anything I really dont like about guildwars 2. apart for from this trailer. Surly the trailer shouldnt have this effect.
A good rule of thumb is to never go from movie quality straight into game play video. The difference is painful. It reminds and forces us to think of what it could be one day. We tend to be left with the feeling that it is somehow less. It is a great game and deserves better than unfair comparisons.
Pretty good TVC.
I don't understand the total and absolute hate for this ad... sure, it's goofy and lame, but it's not trying to win over existing GW2/MMO gamers... it's trying to bring some new demographics into the realm.
For better or worse, this will ad will appeal to those demographics more than you or I, which.. is the point.
I have no interest in Guild Wars 2 or any other life-sucking MMO. I just wanted to see the hot chick in the water.
I think people missed the point, the main point is the connection between the player and the game in that way the trailer makes sense, anyways i'm enjoying this game made by gamers for gamers !! :D
Good job Anet.
Absolutely loving the game. Absolutely hating this commercial. Seriously, there's nothing about the game when you're playing it that suggests advertising should be aimed at people who are emo dipwads who like playing with hair dye, body piercings and daydreaming about a dystopian steampunk post-apocalyptic futures while huffing spray paint from a plastic CVS bag....and yet...there it is in the commercial. WTF?
The trailer is too open for random interpretations.
So the person in clay maybe is paralyzed by reality and her real self is staring to appear underneath.And the girl is running to escape from the real world and is provoking us to do the same.And all the people are joining to do something new and crazy.And the swimmer is surfacing into this new world.
I don`t know , it looks this way to me.
I like Guild Wars 2. It's what Diablo 3 should have been: a fun diversion I can play for an hour or two before going about my day.
This game is really good and I am throughly enjoying it. I could do without the ability to buy boosts/gold for real money but I suppose that's the price you pay for not having a sub fee and they have to pay for the servers somehow.
The only thing that spoils this game is the community members that defend it like it's gods gift to the gaming world and that if you don't happen to enjoy it you're instantly a World of Warcraft fanboy etc etc
You have to accept that this game will never be as popular as WoW (in player numbers) and that is a good thing because if it was it would be as casual friendly as WoW is right now and not the game that is GW2.
Oh well /ignore anyone who even thinks of mentioning WoW in the same sentence as GW2. They both have plus and minus for them.
playing the game and loving it.
but I think the adds for GW1 (and some of the later released campaigns) were better than this.
Is it April's Fools? Ah no its too far away. Actually, what crack did these people smoke? Who did the storyboards? what was the meaning? why did the girl spray ? Why did the people join in? WHAT THE HELLThis is a good add. They should have made something more like this. (and its similar, live in reality, play in GW2, hey lets step in and get high) I know what they tried to do here. But they did VERY badly. The time is now?
Also, either make everything CG gamey a la blizzard/pixar or everything real life looking that resembles the game. This add also made me think in the beggining that I must have clicked the wrong link, and it took me to some Secret World Add.
@masterthrall dude they are all players.... and the last player is synced into the game, thats the relation. But i get where your coming from, i was thinkin the same thing at first. And the dude on the couch... well lets just say i'm still thinkin about that one LOL
exactly what i was thinking
@moc5 Well said, i agree 100%Cheers
@RoadStar1602 Suck my Life.
@esqueejy So they should have a commercial with a bunch of fat guys and ugly chicks? .... No, no... I'll take hot chicks and emo-dystopian steampunks thank you.
@2w-sephiroth What the hell? First you bash the ad, then you say it's good, then you bash it again. Why don't you contradict yourself a little more?
