I miss the old xbox I had so much fun playing halo 2 pgr 2 and kotor but can,t stand the 360 its not nearly as good as the original
@kaelaris Yeah, Xbox did redefined console gaming but it also brought the pc down. Ever since xbox came out games that used to be for pc like the first halo soon became exclusively for xbox. I'm not saying xbox is bad, in fact it is a really good console, but what i am saying is with all the consoles and games being exclusive for consoles the pc is being left out. But i guess that is what they call "marketing"
@kaelaris Gotcha. No it's cool man I agree; some of their reviews really surprise me...*coughgrandtheftautocoughgodofwarcough* where they're like "yeah, this game is nothing new. it's exactly like the last ones. 10/10." And then I look at the game and I'm like "dude. this looks like CRAP." But yeah, my parents are pretty hardcore MMORPG players; they started way back in UO and then played DAoC and EQ2 and WoW (which sucks in my opinion) and now back to EQ2. So I definitely appreciate the power of PC gaming. I just am never able to play because I try to play on my non-gaming laptop and I just can't stand lag.
@elusivemelody I do agree with you that the Xbox defined online console gaming, its just sometimes i'm rather skeptical as to some of the stuff gamespot's staff come out with, some of their reviews are appauling and some comments just arn't thought out. Suppose i'm more having a dig at their staff than anything xD
@kaelaris You got me there, but come on! It's a video about the original Xbox Live service shuttin down! I'm pretty sure he means console gaming. I mean, everyone knows PC gaming has been around for a lot longer...but the Xbox revolutionized console online gaming. Yeah, the PS2 had online but it sucked serious ass. Just saying.
@ps3freek 1. Your post says taht the PS3 rules since 1997, not the psone. 2. Wikipedia is a valid source, and i believe you, but c'mon, can't you do better than that and look for a more serious source?
Loved that Era of Online gaming, It helped revolutionize how we see online games now! @Darth_Nater307: Dont forget Star Wars Jedi Academy 2!!
I liked Halo 2 but no halo game after that. Something just didn't seem right about the follow up games. That or every other on-line game was just getting better and better. Still waiting for my next Rainbow 6 fix!
I've said once, I've said it twice, & I'll say it again: Lucasarts. Gives us "Battlefront III" & "Republic Commando II"!!!
@Payasoplas ya since 1997 i only go by my sured sources and they are wikipedia according to wikipedia it was released in 1994 in japan check it : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playstation
@elusivemelody That would have made all due sense if he'd said "still unparralleled in online CONSOLE gaming", however you cannot over look the fact that PC gaming will always be compared to console gaming due to its popularity and similarities.
@Payasoplas What do I lose? Xbox users are losing a lot but this would never happen with a PC as you're not reliant on anyone, if it doesn't work or isn't compatible you can do the work and code it yourself. Luckily for most of us we would never have to do such a thing as there is many great and generous people who do it for us. Host the servers, write/crack the code, release it to the public and all for free. MS is just trying to force all the failbox holdouts into buying a failbox360. Their sales are tanking right now, this is common sense.
Oh, it's not "Game Over" yet......http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo2.aspx?gameid=803138012&player=TheLegendary117
@ZombieReaper33 Microsoft gave a lot of people three extra months of Live and those who have been on Live for along time got Microsoft points. ( I think it was 400 points) The codes were give if you sign on to live for the original xbox. It may not be enough but it was something.. I guess.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB5cFegAImQ----> its memories like this that will make me miss Halo 2 online (I didnt make the video but i was in that match when they did that no joke, funny as hell!) R.I.P. Xbox Live 1.0!
@Mohamadouf So Microsoft shouldn't move forward? They should let something hold them back? Or did you not even watch the video? Also you are pretty stupid sounding. Microsoft sabotaged the new 360s? Suuure! I had my XBOX 360 for almost two years, have left it on for days at a time, never had a single issue. No red ring, no freezes, nothing. I bet you have had many die because you stuff them into your entertainment unit, don't dust them out and probably abuse the hell out of the system, and wonder why they break. I personally like the 360. Yeah it's sad, but you can't live in the stone age forever. It's time to move forward with technology, not backwards. Grow up.
@ekultus No, but you also rely on the compatibility of the games with your current OS, you loose a lot more...
so should we halo 2 players just go f*** ourselves now or what, there're just no limits for those greedy bastards. lots of x360 owners turned back to their original xbox to play halo online after their 360s were sabotaged by micro$ ..
Let them shut it down. Their reason is probably because it costed them too much money, and their profits and focus is on the Xbox 360 (which btw fAilz).
I still have the original ninja gaiden for the original x box but I didn't have enough money and didn't get the chance to play online and the peter Jackson king Kong the game online too and I wished i had that original xbox live experience :( R.I.P. Original xbox live you will be missed. and I have a ps3 with Ninja gaiden sigma, sigma II, Street Fighter IV, MGS 4 guns of the patriot / mgo as my online gaming experience now.
@ps3freek So, you say the PS3 rules since 1997, when it wasn't even in development... Your nickname suits you very well...
sooo.. does the ps2 win the online race? ps2 still has some games online such as sniper elite which i play from time to time.
i dont agree with this. people still use the service. people paid alot money for those things back in the day. its just a good way to force people that have the XBX to go out and fork more money for a new system. yes i have 360 and a PS3 but im talking about people who haven't been blessed like i have that can just go fork out $300 on upgrading.
Guess this also means no updates (aka - last available patch) for XBOX original games either? As long as I can still play single/ local doubles on my 360, especially for background story, since I skipped the whole Dreamcast/XBOX/ PS1&2 gen. Brought my 360 to grandma's yesterday and plugged into her old 27" TV and played the original splinter cells and rainbow sixes, they still look and play fantastic! Gotta give credit to Diablo (pc), Starcraft (pc), Mech Commander 4 (pc), Ghost Recon 1 (pc), Doom3 (mac), Unreal 2004(mac), and Halo(mac) for getting me back into gaming. Don't ask me to choose, I play PC, PS3, and XBOX360 equally. But they still won't replace the glory of my Commodore 64.
I think my top three Xbox Multiplayer games was: 1. Halo 2 2.Spinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow/Choas Theory- Really funny to talk to the enemy when you grab them from behind and to just hide in the shadows and play zap the mercs. 3. Rainbow Six 3- One of my favorite memories was being in the death cam and watching a player plant C4 behind an unaware camper and than proceeded to blow up the camper LOL
Andersk, I agree with you as there are games on my PC that are years old and I can still get a pickup game. Xbox games although fun seem to lack longevity as to multiplayer. Yeah there are a few games that have lasted but nothing like pc gaming. However, I must say I find myself playing more xbox these days than PC games i guess just more comfortable to sit on the couch within one controller and a larger screen....
See this is what is wrong with games today. They just arent made to last. Look at games like Quake 3, Counter-Strike and Starcraft. Those were made OVER A DECADE AGO and are still actively played on both a casual and a proffesional level. The funny thing is, the developers of these old games still support them. Video game industry today is about catering to the newbie infested masses, cashing in, then abandon game and move on to the next title. Makes me sad, and lose hope in gaming.
I still play rainbow six 3 online all the time on my pc. shame about console gaming though... most games only seem to last 1-2 years online...
@transformer1992 Does anybody else feel that all PC gamers do is whine and cry on console game forums? @kaelaris Pretty sure this was a video about how Xbox Live redefined CONSOLE gaming.
