i bought cod b ops stictly for multi player didnt even touch single player campaign when i got dragon rising i got it for the single player campaign and its sim gameplay doubt i'm gonna bother with this one if its goin to be, "FUN"
haha "They are listening to bad ass heavy metal, and getting REALLY pumped up, READY TO KILL !!! " love it, this guy is awesome
The only thing bad about dragon rising is that it is really buggy and multiplayer is badly implemented. The lobby system sucks and should be removed, or at least fixed. Problem is that when the match starts it becomes closed to other players, so when somebody leaves the game he gets replaced by a bot and other human players can't join. So when some matches that last a long time, and many people leave, there are only bots left. I hope that they fix that and all those bugs. As far the gameplay itself the game is great.
More accessible?! NO! NO! This is MOH&BC2 all over again, singleplayer is unplayable and horribly simple/repetive/boring/easy/linear! I hate all these new games where you have 20 degree radius where to go, and it's the corridor you are currently in or open environment blocked so that they can have "great graphics"? What the? PS2 had way better graphics technically than PS3, environment size is part of the graphics too but the kids won't realize that, it's enough if the gun is ultra realistic and the view range ends at 30m! There are now players for COD knock offs, just get it!
He said less sim more fun.. No thanks why'd you think people bought operation flashpoint games in the first place.
I agree with mikees1. If Codemasters seriously wants to try and compete with POS CoD, then they might as well put a gun to Red River's head right now. Players are not going to stray from CoD. They're going to sit there and play it. The biggest contender against CoD as of now is Bad Company 2. Leave it that way. They're both watered-down, non-realistic shooters. What you guys are trying to do would be like Gran Turismo dumbing down everything in their game to stoop down to Midnight Club's level of playability. Some people LIKE realism in their games. THEY think it's fun. Just because CoD people turned their noses up to Dragon Rising, doesn't mean you need to rush to change the formula. If anything, just fix the bugs for Red River before you release it. That's all we ask. I don't know about you guys, but I was getting fed up with being blown to crap by one of my squadmate's Stingers just because he was straight retarded. Just patch up the current formula, maybe lean a bit more towards Bohemia's roots, and give the masochists what they want. Don't screw this game up too.
This is the same guy that talked so good about operation flashpoint, and we know how that turned out, complete disaster, Bugy game, almost unplayable
Doesn't look too bad...can't say the same about this guys teeth though! ;) But seriously, if they are able to keep what was good about OF:DR and fix/add features that will make it more accessible to non-hardcore gamers it will be fantastic!
@gugler990 Operation Flashpoint has been out years before Call of duty Modern Warfare. Your statement is wrong.
you would've been dead in half a second if you stayed that close to 3 enemies in DR. This just lost it's "awesome" status for me.
any one of you who think this game will be anything like they say it is... you DESERVE to waste money on this pos game. I guarantee this game will SUCK and I hope you fools DON'T listen to any of the warnings from the last pos game they released. I hope that all of you people who are ignorant waste $70 on this I really really really hope you do
hmm 8 hours is not very much, i hope the multiplayer will make up for this (it does have multiplayer doesn't it?)
Dear LoneWolf21Bravo, I'm right there with you. I hope they don't try to hard to make Red River too much like CoD. I fear it will lose its appeal if they do.
Exactly what Conscrumpted said: there are titles far better than Dragon Rising in the "fun FPS" genre. OFP:CWC created its own genre, which Lenton is refusing to adhere to. But we'll see.
It's just not convincing me. There are far better FPS games out there, this one just doesn't stand out and seems unreliable. I'm sure I'll give it a shot, but I'll likely stick with Bad Company 2 just because it's the better all-around experience.
Never played earlier Flashpoint or related games. This one looks pretty cool, although I must say that the shooting seems rather 'easy' as the guy keeps missing his targets but still 'enemies' drop like desert-flies... Lenton also seems to associate Heavy Metal with getting pumped up and wanting to shoot people. Well, I've been listening to that stuff for decades now and never felt the urge to start wielding a gun... Except when my sister's dog craps on my rug, that is. JJ
His FACE is a pigeonhole. There are two types of people who didn't like DR: those who found it too hard (because they're used to COD) and those who liked the original flashpoint. The latter definitely have more rights to be indulged, but Lenton's obviously leaning towards the former. MoH tried that and failed, if OFP tries that, it will also fail. If you didn't like Flashpoint because it wasn't like CoD - go play CoD and stop complaining about games that weren't meant for you. But damage is done. I hope Red River will indeed be at the very least "a great tactical shooter", since I lost all hope of it being a simulator.
so they're moving out of the simulation genre dissapointing even though the latest one disappointed, it would have been nice to have some direct competition to Arma II
OFDR was excellent, I liked the escape of run and gun, I hope that they release a game that doesn't compromise the tactical aspect of the game because of all the whiners but tweak the experience that offers more of a storyline that keeps us on the edge but still in the fight.
As i said before, fix the pathfinding and a.i. and fire that guy who disabled 360degree view in vehicles.
@akwar I have Arma 2 but it runs all slow on my PC and it's tooooo laggyy, I reallyy want to play Arma 2 at high speeed with amazing graphics. What are the requirements of playing Arma 2 at a fast speed, and amazing graphics or even just goood?
Flashpoint always looked nice but they forgot to build a game on top of the tech that they put together, not to mention the tech wasn't finished... the fact that on a map you can only have a limited number of units and had to micro manage the number of units through Lua was horrible, not to mention the squad can't get too far away from each other or auto die, meaning in coop, you can't even split up in groups of two... bleh! if they didn't greatly improve the tech and actually build some nice gameplay, this will be pants!
Too heck with this crap. The real Operation Flashpoint is now Arma and Arma 2.Some people get confused and think this junk is the same.Pass on this one folks. Its garbage. If you want realism go get Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead. Its despicable that codemaster's keeps trying to copy the Bohemia Interactive product.Even the new island in this is sounding like a rip off of OA for Arma 2.
NO! don't make it too "fun" and "accessible". Those of us that loved the last game, loved it for the very things that set it aside from the other generic, mainstream shooters. this was a great tachtical franchise... please dont kill that! if your going to dial back those tactical elements with the sequel, then just give us other guys a huge expansion to dragon rising at least. * worried for this previously reliable franchise *
I like opdr because it was harder and I had to take my time. This seems like the guy is just floating around picking dummies off. Hope they don't stry too far.
Absolutly loved Dragon Rising (im still playing it online) and am sort of looking forward to this. The reason i have my doubts is the fact that they are targeting this at CoD players, which maybe loses something for the original fanbase. I dont want camping CoD noobs playing this game, i play OFP to get away from these people, i play it for its realism, i dont want kill streaks and points flashing up above the enemies head everytime you shoot them. Codemasters, you're never going to steal away CoD fans so do not even try. You'll ruin it for us that want to play this game as it is. Let the kids and babies have CoD, let us realism fans have an unwatered down version of Flashpoint.Dragon Rising was fine (admittedly there were some faults but nothing that made the game unplayable) so do not fix what is not broke, and when i say that i mean do not make this game a CoD CLONE or Even easier to pick up for a CoD gamer. They'll tire of it not long after buying it and go back to the only game they know how to play, where as we OFP fans will be here until your next title!
