Operation Flashpoint: Red River Damien Knox Bio Video
Meet Damien Knox as he takes you around Tajikistan.
How come we can't ever invade a cool country, like chicks in bikinis, you know, how come countries like that don't ever need Marines.
What Dragopn Rising REALLY lacked were cool gameplay elements outside of shooting and orders; there was really a limited number of ways you could complete a mission and not die; you couldn't choose loadout, which limited your ability to try new tactics, thus reducing replay value, etc. But it had a LOT of cool stuff, which was not explored in the missions. Sounds like they'll fix all that in Red River. I hope we get some DLC that's actually good too! They're also implementing a lot of character development, which should boost the feel of the game. And they're drawing inspiration from Generation Kill, which is awesome, I just wish they both read the book AND watched the miniseries.
I love OpFP:DR. IMO its more accessible and fun than Arma games. Arma is also good but its good to see more content for OpFP.
Keep in mind - Flashpoint and Bad company/Black ops are two COMPLETELY different genres, and just because you enjoy the run-and-gun shooters more doesn't mean they're better. As for original OFP fans - Eventhough Dragon Rising is a long way away from ArmA2, it's by far more stable, it's available on consoles and has some cool features too. It has potential. The reason why DR was so disappointing is because we were promised things we never got, and also because of simplistic DLC packs, which you could make in 2 minutes in the mission editor. But in my books, ArmA2 and Dragon Rising are on a similar level. However, Red River will not have a mission editor, which saved DR for me, so I have my doubts. However it seems like CM learned their lesson on marketing, and they're not overhyping red river, they're more honest about it. Hopefully the campaign will be more dynamic or there will be single missions with a bit of free reign.
I too enjoyed Dragon Rising but I'm undecided if I'll get this just because I'm still enjoying Bad Company 2 and Black Ops, also Killzone 3 and Resistance 3 are just around the corner. I have to be honest though, I'm going off fps games. GT5 and Assassins Creed have taken up most of my time lately.
last game was ok this must be better for me to get it i mite just get kz3 and stick with cod there better i think
12 shots to kill an enemy? You must have missed 11 times before hitting your target because it certainly doesn't take 12 shots. A.I. killing you with 1 shot and they need improving? LOL Red River looks great.
Two things they need to do to make this better than Dragon Rising, improve the AI and make it so the enemies die from one shot like you do, instead of taking about 12
I want realism to but dragon rising was so boring and stiff. you were mostly just running and giving orders.
whattt!!!? i dont understand you people! dragon rising was a brilliant game! just becuase it wasnt the same run and gun games we constantly have now like cod doesnt make it a bad game. Anyone with any kind of millitary experiance will hopefuly agree with me when i say that dragon rising was almost to the point! The commands, how they were exicuted, the weapons and the whole feel of it i thought was great! Seriously FU you guys hating on this game its gonna be BIG! (i hope)
The letdown started with Dragon Rising and it looks like this one is a bad arcade copy from Operation Arrowhead. Even if the scenario is located on Whateveristan I will not buy it. Long life to Bohemia Interactive, to keep the true legacy from Operation Fashpoint.
never buying another Codemasters game. Dragon Rising had sooo much potential, but came out as the biggest disappointment EVER
I will definitely buy this game. Who cares about the past OFP titles. That was before, we are in the here and now!
im sorry but when i got OF:dragon rising it killed this series for me because im all for realism like one bullet to the head and u dead but they tried to incoporate way to many things to that the controls were horrible and the game its self a long grind to finish it and never play it again
Sorry but Codemasters ruined the Operation Flashpoint name, The games they develop inder the OP banner will never be as good as the Bohimia ones
That was actually some really impressive dialogue for a shooter game, and especially impressive for a Op Flashpoint game.
@maxp84 I can't tell if you're joking or not. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn't hear it properly, even though he says if pretty clearly in the video several times. I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt that you failed to read the video description. Hmmm.... Btw, the game looks pretty sick, but whoever did the voice acting for this guy is horrendous.
landmines and grenades blowing up all around you and making computer animated ragdolls act like badasses so though they don't even blink, now there's a challenge.... not. try making cgi freak out and show people realistic reactions in a video game trailer. that's a damn succes right there.
@usmc575 i'd give obama some slack, he's trying to make the best of a difficult situation, and i think he's doing alright considering the circumstances, the post war stragecy in Iraq was a shambles, although i think it's more or less over now, and with Afghanistan more troops won't solve anything, in 1979 Russia invaded afghanistan, they were there for 10 years and lost something like 20,000 men there, it's not an easy place to fight, as bad as vietnam or maybe even worse
who (of us americans) were pissed when the 9/11 tragedy occured? an emotional response was evoked from a lot of americans, and we all know emotional responses aren't always rational
it seems that every week a new, good-looking game is mentioned..... so much choice,.... its like 2009 all over again!
If they think I'm buying this on release they have another thing coming. I'm not taking the risk that the same stunt as was pulled last time gets pulled again (i.e. false advertising). Definitely a game to wait for a review for. If there is no full free roam with vehicles like the old games and the ability to aproach missions from different strategies I'm not buying it. I'll also be dissapointed if, as in Dragon Rising, it takes 3 shots in the face sometimes to kill someone on the hardest difficulty. If you have more health in lower difficulty levels then fair enough but on hardcore it's one shot kill for you and should be the same for them...
All politics aside for a moment, this looks ok at present...i will definitely be waiting for the review on this one, last one was a let down - give OF back to bohemia!
@Xplode 77 I agree with you, but I always love hearing developers focusing on much more realistic shooters then the generic HUR DUR 360 NO SCOPE HEADSHOT DOUBLE SWITCH KILLSTREAK retardness that's been plauging the shooter genre, which is the kind of gameplay that's being played to death.
