The story unfolds in this teaser trailer for Nier.
Did you enjoy this video?
sqaure enix......?graphics sucks.......sqaure enix r gettin retarted!
im sorry, but i think this game looks amazing. finally square is making a game that has dark overtones
Yeah, what Bioh4zz4rd said.
Eh looks OK, seems to much like any other action game for me to like it but than again its by SE...
This trailer looks good, the gameplay one looked awkward!
Looks pretty good in my opinion. I hope it doesn't become repetitive like other games!.
should be great because of square enix
Looks like a good action title - we shall see...
dragon bone smasher tiny version 0:11
Hmmm so thats what it should have been like...
Well thats my bad for not understanding it Xp.
To be really honest i usually was numb from getting out of the random battles so i might not have been a 100% for the story events...
Still it makes sense AFTER you explain it, i mean when i played FF4 and i had already gotten my paladin powers i kinda stopped noticing Cecil's development Xp
Ah well thx for pointing that out, i still think the getting out of 1 dungeon and going directly into another wasn't that great but hey thats just me.
I still think this development isnt a bad one :)
@corrupted333. Your argument is invalid.
hack and slash games are only fun for so long T_T
seriously this game looks boring tired or the same dam plot in these games
haha draws nier lol video game trailer puns :P
FF4 was an amazing story. It's not about someone rising up to save the world without reason, it's about finding the true person behind themselves. i.e. In the beginning Cecil used Dark Powers, but later in the game he found the true light within himself after the "trials".
FF7 & 8 were the same...more or less. They were about the protagonist finding himself and evolving. This happened especially in FF8 when SE let you hear/read the inner thoughts of Squall and company. It helped drive the story and let you get an inside scoop of the inner turmoil that the characters didn't share with the other; it added dramatic irony (if you remember any of that from school).
Dude...FFXII was based in Ivalice and had the Ivalice team working on it. They're the people responsible for FF Tactics. In other words, this game's strongest point was the...well...for lack of a better word, tactics. What I'm trying to say is that the same team that was behind VII, VIII, IX, and partially X weren't behind XII. It's not that they changed the entire company, they changed the staff working on the game. =]
To make a long story short, these developments make games more challenging and still have great stories. (ex FF7 CC)
classic rpgs were all just about getting uberlevel, buying the best stuff and overstockin on potions ethers and so on.
And to be honest some story bits werent that great in older rpgs,( FF4 Cecil just jumps up and saves the world for no apperant reason????, also a lot of cliche scenes and more endless dungeons with a far to large monster population, not to mention FF7 and FF8 squall and cloud who start caring for the world with no real reason?)
So i for one welcome these richer stories with better reasoning and more challenging battles!
OMG the other half wasnt posted >.
@ Monchoago and all other likeminded,
Hi i have been reading your comments for a while now.
At first i understood what you were saying but now i just find them irritating.
Listen hack and slash doesn't automatically mean push a stick and mash a button. (Well maybe only if you mean the Dynastywarriors franchise, that really is just a 10 min long button mash and u win the battle.)
I have played almost every ff there is, not 6 becasue i just cant stand Terra >..>)
And yes the towns are pretty nice but maybe that was because you finally got of the damn world map and the endless not-worth-your-time battles.
Yes the this game type is overused but that only means the it really is popular.
And besides FF13(i have read your comments) isnt hack and slash by far, its ATB with a new flavour.
And most hack and slash really make u think like, how can i attack the enemy, what are his blinds spots, what is his attack pattern, what weapon is best?
Also mind that you spend a lot of time dodging and setting up a move ( example the boss fights in Darksiders, you need to watch your timing place a bomb on the boss make it detonate and then attack any other thing fails >.
looks cool wait and see
VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE AND ORIGINAL......even though d trailer doesn't show mch
Another slash and hack button masher, yay.
Oh! Oh! look... it's another god of war game... what the hell happened to all the videogamers? all of you wanna be always Kratos... this $%&@ happens in every old and good Franchise... do you see what the new developers are doing with castlevania (lords of shadow)? do you will imagine what these peope gonna do with the others legendary sagas?... and all its because... the "new gamers" don't undestand what a game is about... God save the Queen and the older gamers!
And... the destruction of the franchise started from FF12... when the company changed. So i dont trust any game involved with SquareEnix
Yeah, I agree, I also enjoyed FF12, but, its not the same... there where not the traditional summons (or Aeons, or eidolons), and I think the battle system was good, but still, there was more planification in older FFs, and, as I have seen in FF13, you just push a button... so its getting worst. What I fear the most is the lack of towns and all that is involved in the traditional enviroment of a FF. I know they have to innovate and all, but the sacrifice of the essence of the franchise is what Im starting to see... What I see is that, as in some other games, good graphics are replacing a solid and deep construction, and I dont want FF to finish being a dungeon-battling game...
I do agree that the Final Fantasies after part 10 were not as great as past ones(except for X-2, THAT was flat-out a disappointment), Final Fantasy could never be destroyed it can only be better. and b4 anyone starts screaming, I was not a fan of FF 12 but I ain't one to hate on it either. It just was a rather large shift for me.
I say everybody calm down, sit back, and wait until we have more info on it. out of the minute it was showing there was probably 5 seconds of gameplay that is still subject to change. square enix has rarely failed. even when kingdom hearts came out, i thought it would suck cause of disney and i was forced to sit down and shut up. Show some trust dammit!
@monchoago Dude, the FF franchise wasn't destroyed, they're trying to evolve it/ renew it. The games still have great story telling, intresting characters, rpg evolving characteristics, beautiful soundtracks and so on, what changed is only the battle system.
I have to agree i liked it more back then too but they're right battles were just unrealistic that way.
The trailer doesn't show much to be honest, even the site's comment tells more about the story than the trailer shows.
Plus how can you tell about its gameplay already by that? I see comments on the battle system but you hardly get to see enough to compare... What makes people compare it to demon souls would be the atmosphere probably, it does have similarities and so seem to have the enemies that appear in the trailer.. i mean in the style they are made, not that they're same
Just throwing this out here..
This game looks nothing like Demon's Souls.. people earlier said it did - I have the game.. and it isn't hack & slash lmao.. no where near that. In Demon's Souls you have to be really strategic about your fighting.

@nevershoutnevea how the heck does that gameplay look like it could be anything like demon's souls? LOL
I'm pretty sure that Square Enix is just the publisher, and that Cavia is the developer. This game will be a 'hack-n-slash' at first glance, much like Drakengard 2 for example (another game Cavia & SE made), but is actually contains any other combat element you would come across in an RPG- just in real time; made to fit large-scaled battles. At any rate, I'm hoping that this game will be heavily oriented around story telling- much like the other Cavia games.
Well I certainly liked the sound track they used there :). As far as getting on my high horse and hurling all kinds of judgements at this game, I agree with MurderMode, with doing some reading up on this game first.

why are so many games that are coming out this year copying the god of war style fighting?! Darksiders, Dante's Inferno, Nier?! not that theres anything wrong with it but dang......forgot what my point was going to be but it looks cool. :D
this game look like it is going to be good
looks great ..i hope it's like Demon's souls.
