Need for Speed: Shift Drifting Video with Vaughn Gittin Jr.
Vaughn Gittin Jr. talks about his role in the development of the game!
I havn't liked any NFS since Hot Pursuit. After than you can say I graduated to sim racing games. Played all the GT and beat them all 100% (except 2 it only went to 98.5%), and played Forza 2 with 1000gs. This game looks pretty good from what I can tell. They seem to have a nice sence of speed, and the tracks look a little wider than GT or Forza. Both of those are a plus I think. Im not writing off this game because is made by EA or that it has the NFS name. In fact im looking forward to it. Graphics look good. Can't wait. Who knows...maybe when Forza 3 comes out..i might find myself playing Shift more.
hey guys on a skale of 1 - 10 i give most wanted a 12 carbon an 8 pro street a 5 undercover a 7 and hopefully this game a 13. even though i never beat mostwanted because i had to reinstall it several times either because of virus or updating my computer with better hardware and the final blow was inside my dvd drive a piece of plastic broke off and ruined the play disc. but anyway i believe so far that MW was and still is my favorite because its story is a lot longer and you dont beat the game in a week and hopefully this game wont have any problems with Nvidia chip sets unlike the last one did. i also hope that the cars are more reailistic than Undercover. i am looking forward to this game and my biggest reason is that you can wreck people in this one unlike the previous games and a more extensive career.
What’s the bet this game is going to be released before forza3 and GT5 at any cost because once they are out Shift will fade away. EA Pleas stop calling you games Need for speed because all the crap you been releasing dose not deserve to be called NFS, you have killed NFS long time ago. How about for once EA spends what they do advertising on development maybe then we get something good. Good games don't need advertising every few day new videos new hands on and so on and so on. Yes I’m angry why because I want a good NFS and I haven’t got one in long time, what I did get fells more like robbery. I hope I’m wrong and we get good racing game but I’m not getting m hopes. Playable demo first no more empty promises
You would think EA could take a hint and realize that Need for Speed: Most Wanted was quite possibly their biggest hit, and attempt to perhaps make an even better sequel based on its mechanics. But nooo, they went and made Carbon which was a poor transition from Most Wanted. So then they tried to bring Most Wanted back with Undercover, which honestly wasn't THAT bad of a game, but it still was a poor sequel to Most Wanted. So now they decide to go ahead and make yet ANOTHER racing simulator? Are the head developers at EA studios even thinking? We already have enough "racing simulators" such as Gran Turismo, GRID, and a few others that couldn't quite come out on top. Need for Speed in the earlier days was loved because of how each sequel became better and better, and new additions such as the underground series gave the game a new and excitingtwist to the term "street racing". And they did a SPECTACULAR job in mixing their Hot Pursuit with Underground to form Most Wanted. All of these games were based on street racing, and now the company wants to make freaking Need for Speed a racing simulator. You know what, I'm going to stop ranting. I'm just going to cry over how pathetic a company is when they shut off their ears to the players and make changes to a once-fantastic franchise that will no doubt dissapoint quite a few hardcore fans, like me. Good-bye Need for Speed, perhaps we'll meet again when EA actually learns how to not screw up a franchise.
I'm not much into Drifting games, but I agree with everyone else bring out a demo and I'll give it a whirl.
definitely am not paying for a stupid cops n' robers based game like all you NFS:MW fans are gimmicking about. I mean if the cops were actually smart and tried to stop you instead of ramming into each other and the closest wall! I want a R-A-C-I-N-G game and that's what Shift is trying to portray. It reminds me a lot of GRID, which was freakin' awsome and MUCH better than that MW rubbish. No doubt I'm helping EA out with this one.
here is my prediction..... SHIFT will fail this sept. and NFS new game from criterion in 2010 will be amazing excellent. ban me if you will I dont care any more.
aliababoa Posted Jul 24, 2009 6:34 pm GMT Damn, what happened to the Need for speed games? I loved it before, with police chasing you, streetracing at midnight, and all those cool stuff. Now it's just drifting in some competitions and that kinda things.. I was so in love with Carbon, Most Wanted and Underground, because it was real street racing! now its boooring.. sad they haven't made any of those since Carbon............................................ surprised ur not banned for saying this. EA need to go back to hotpursuit2
without being banned again... whats wrong with having cops?? in NFS?? some NFS players love having competition with cops. it make it worth playing.... so will you guys ban me for saying that??
@ aliababoa "I loved it before, with police chasing you, streetracing at midnight, and all those cool stuff." the game has always been cool, you can't just always stick to the same thing, it just gets repititive and it gets boring. Is always great to try out new stuff, and if it doesn't work then they'll try something else next time. Until then, shut up, buy the game and enjoy it.
OK let's face it like all other NFS it looks great, but in the long run EA will ruin it like it has with everything they touch, so let's all calm down and let's go see how's Dirt 2 moving along since it will Kick NFS:S but.

to all the crackers complaining about this not being a street racing game, you'll get your game next year so relax. this year theyre doing something different. NFS is more than just cop chases now and it has been for a long time. the underground series didnt have em, this doesnt have em, and thats just fine. Dont compare this to other NFS games, its something new. Theyre not leaving street racing and cop chases, theyre just doing something different this year.
@m1lk4 ahahahaha the real drifters want more smoke but they cant add too much cause weiners will complain. In reality though, you are right, drifting puts a ridiculous amount of smoke in the air.
I agree that the Need For Speed series should stick to cop chases, where in my opinion it really was best. I'm not against them making a game like this, but why not put it under a different name? Or atleast release one with cops simultaneously.

blade trinity, i like the police in Most Wanted. the rest of the games the cops were just plain lazy especially undercover. i hate them but for diferent reasons
hey blade trinity 114 i agree with you they can be annoying i hated it when right when you were about to win the race a cop slams into you and you lose the race. But they also added an element that made NFS stand out and added a little bit more of an edge to the game.
Am I the only one who didn't like cops in Need for Speed?! They were annoying, and came in at the wrong times!
I wanted them to go back and see what made Porsche Unleashed so amazing and learn from that.. and there are signs that they have :P I'm excited now..
Deff need a Demo here. past few NFS games where a downer, bring back the underground scene of racing!
videos are only glimpses of the game and this is july september is 2 months away this isnt the finished product so wait for the demo if it ever comes out and then make up your mind on how bad its going to be. sure i miss cop chases but there are only so many ways to do street until it gets realy repetitive and then your going to be bored with that and want something different. Besides new people are making the game so it wont be like prostreet (hopefully) neither will it be like grid because codemasters made that game. Slightly made studios is making this game so shut up about it being like all of those games and if im wrong about this game than you can say whatever you want about me being wrong. I've played almost every NFS game and realy the only one i got bored with was prostreet because it was the same races everytime and you couldn't wreck any of the other cars unlike this game so theres one element thats different and two there are a lot of differnt racing types sp this is completely different from prostreet and you earn bonuses for driving clean or driving agressively so theres another element thats different from prostreet and grid and you can have an online career and thats different from prostreet and grid so shut up about it being the samebecause its NOT THE SAME!!!
I just have no idea whether it's for the PS3 or PSP... Other than that, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get it... :D
@ATFNeOpHyTe: Japanese and American drift races have different rules, Vaughn Gittin Jr an American driving an American Car in Drift Formula while others such as Tanner Foust and Chris Forsberg driving Imports (350z). Also, Gittin Jr breaking the Drifting World Record (technically, watch his video on youtube). He won the D1 Grand Prix, twice. Also won the D1 Grand Prix: USA vs Japan. so the American, Gittin Jr beats the Japanese (I'm not American and the overuse of "American" is not to imply anything offensive). Yeah, I know Slightly Mad are from London, England but still. [Go Rhys Millen and Dai Yoshihara!]. Anyway, I think they used other drifters as well, so just gotta wait. And of course they game him a steering wheel at one point. @aqwa: Not nerds but Car Enthusiasts or people with a Need For Speed =), the nerds are the ones complaining that EA should make Need For Speed Underground 3 and MW2. The ones who are still comparing and complaining even though that Shift's gameplay might be good on the spot. Demo please! when?! @Anayalator408: Thanks =)
it might be good it might not all i know is that last few really failed so im not keeping my hopes up
nfs : prostreet with some better graphics ,physix and new cars .... only racing no free roam , too bad
