NBA 2K fans can expect a much better soundtrack when NBA 2K13 drops on October 2nd, 2012 with Jay-Z serving as executive producer and hand-picking the 24 tracks featured in the game.
Did you enjoy this video?
I wish they had stopped @2k11 and just updated everything thru dlc- ratings, music, uniforms, etc. Seems like they could just do things like that.
All the guys are idiots who make these games. WTF do I care if Jay Z is involved in the game? Can he make the graphics better? How is this going to make me buy the game? Wow! Make it look real 2K, make the online better, so we can actually have nice flowing leagues, and then ill feel like my hard earned money is going to something worthy. At least it isnt as dissapointing as Madden. That game still looks the same 5 years later.
Sports video games are going downhill except Fifa at least they give a crap about their buyers.
Wow I was really worried about the game's soundtrack.... Now i feel better....
Come on 2K stop wasting time and money on marketing stuff and spend some time actually evolving the gameplay and fixing the stupid bugs here and there...
I'm going to buy this game no matter what, but they seriously need to fix the online. I don't even see how they can get away with advertising online functionality year after year when it's completely broken. Other than that I love their games. I play on my pc with the graphics dialed all the way up and it straight up looks real. They haves many different animations in this game every time I play it I see something new and I play almost every day still. Good move with jay-z I think because last years music was pretty bad. Now include guys like Reggie miller and sir Charles, improve the accuracy of passes with the stick, and things will be looking good.
That was short.
It's still shocking that Jay-Z is executive producer.
Thought it was going to be better music, but it says Jay-Z... EOM
I'm really excited for this game. I thought the soundtracks were always great, and I hate jay-Z. But there are still some decent songs on the list. If the Jay-Z thing is the only new thing however, I will be hugely upset. Well, patiently waiting for the release to find out.
Nice to see player faces look like crap once again.
They should have gotten Paul Mccartney to handpick the songs lol. Help! and so on.
Really pathetic. I can already see the sticked on the cover stating "Songs picked by Jay-Z!!! OMG Buy it thumbs up guaranteed"
I think this was a good move since one of the weakest parts of 2k has been the soundtrack with hit or miss song plus 2k will have an edge with music and design since we all know EA has owned them when it came to songs
@SavageEvil who the hell is Kevin Grant? you shouldn't even be playing 2k when you're talking about players that don't exist.
I seriously hope they fixed some of the weird issues from the last two games. Magic passes that somehow find the ball to intended players hands through opposing players hands, weird but 16 bit generation old pump fake and can't get lose to blow by the opponent because the AI somehow makes you get stuck on the defending player who fell for the pump fake(that pisses me off more than anything). Fix those ugly ass player faces, Kevin Grant looks like Tyrone from Dave Chappelle and a host of other individuals that barely resemble themselves(2K went backwards in this department). Fix the bloody set pick button, it's nigh impossible to set up for one while on the move, but the A.I. has no trouble at all. One thing that boggles my mind, why in an age of HD wide screen TV's do we have panning left and right when you are only viewing half court in Legacy mode? That makes no sense and playing with multiple players leads to you guarding off screen AI controlled players constantly. No reason to pan on a 16:9 screen at all. Add the option to cut out some of the cut scenes like having to wait for the AI to get ready to shoot foul shots, irritating to say the least when you are in a hurry. What I found incredible was how fluid the demo of 2k12 was compared to the final release, the final release was a lot less smooth and a bit grainy too. Fix it Visual Concepts, you guys were great on DC no question but lately it's been a bit of a let down, what no competition has made you complacent?
u know what who gives a rats ass about jay-z. Is this a musical game? No it isn't. They got to refine the gameplay and add the ability to put legends in one team in association like in 2k9. They are plenty of ways to spend money on development than on music.
Well I thought I would never say it, but 2k has taken the path of E.A. Spouting out the same tired game without fixing anything. Really...They are excited about the music in the game? Who cares about that, give us good gameplay.
wow welp, i thought i
This headline is dripping with redundancy.
The only positive is Jay-Z should be able to get better and more known artists for the music.
Could care less about the music in ANY sports game. It's the least of gamers worries. Just give us good gameplay.
If Jay-z did anything other than help with the music we all in trouble lol
Who cares!!!! JAY-Z does not make a good basketball game.
why would i give a poo that jayZ is in the part?!?game companies just try to market their game by sticking every celeb name they can.
didnt u hear? in fifa 2013 paula abdul brought water to the art director.
paula abdul - executive water producer.
Executive Producer, Jay-Z = Brooklyn Nets getting a stat buff making them better in the game than they really are :P.
This is cool, and I hope the soundtrack turns out in my favour. For years, the soundtrack was the only thing that NBA Live had over 2K.
W/E...let's play some LeBron!!!
OOOHHH, Jay-Z!! Not! Doesn't matter who the exec. producer is, that's not gonna make the game good. If anything, he only has a couple good songs and that's that. But I still don't understand how he was able to kick it with Beyonce, I know that girl can do better with her fine self.
The only issue I have is Amazing by Kanye West is in the soundtrack again. It's not a bad song, but I'm sure they could of found a different song to put in other then reusing one from a previous game's soundtrack.
While i listen to this awesome song. I could not care less about who Jay Z is, but i asume he's a rap-hip hop thief.....
Only news i wanted to hear about Nba 2k13 involved adding ALL the late 80's and early 90's teams.....not this crap.
the players look like they are made from card board cut outs just like 2k12, I want a better graphics and animations engine not jayz sound tracks
Can't wait, but I'm still playing NBA 2K11 and NBA 2K12. I hope they finally fix all the stat bugs from these games though. It's a mess. Please add quarterly box score stats. Even NBA Live 2005 had that in it.
2K always does a good job on the ... the game isnt perfect but its still better than any previous title theyv’e put out
@Ford46liters So you buy the game to listen to it's soundtrack? Wow, this is just what a NBA Sim needs.
This is the kind of input unfortunately that is out there, instead of credible things like gameplay issues, out of date player models, inaccurate court designs, terrible create a player graphics, etc.
@BiggEdd32 No but I still enjoy good music in a game because it adds to the experience. I think jay-z artistic and musical influence could be a good thing but to comment on gameplay a source online says hes not involved in that area and 2k gameplay mechanics are already good they just need more refinement and better defense controls in my opinion but I was under the impression at first that he was involved in all parts of the game which would be a bad move to me as well
@Ford46liters My point is basically that 2k is going hollywood and putting dollars towards Jay-Z and the pointless DLC like the all-star weekend crap they announced earlier.
I'm a hardcore nba2k player, I pay attention to gameplay and game issue details. 2k gameplay is great, but i can list you off at least 10 bugs that need to be fixed during gameplay. On top of that the graphics and player models and terrible and that's an understatement. Just a couple days ago I put in NBALive 10 and live sucks beyond words in every aspect but the graphics are much better than 2k12 in regards to courts, shoes, and anti aliasing.
I also talked to someone with who has communication with a member of the 2k development team, and he said that the head guy of nba2k cares only about making money and has turned down attempts by game developers to improve graphic details and such.
Which again leads back to the original point, 2k puts more effort and money into getting jay-z to do something pointless like music, just to have his name and get more buzz, this is great for a marketing and money making stand point, but it hurts the gamers in the end because the actual important issues just get a band aid.
Think about this, how long has NBA2k been on the next gen consoles? And yet they still have all these bugs.
