Love Carolyns voice. I disagree about calling this game extreme though, I think absurd is the correct term.
Wow, I didn't think the game could be this bad. I agree with the review though. Bad or inconsistent physics can ruin a game. For anyone that was looking forward for this game, just stick with the motorstorm series.
Great graphics. Could of been a great game, but it feels like your floating 1 foot above the track flying through the course instead of riding on a motor vehicle. Totally agree with the review - looks nice, but a total lack of physics make even arcade racers look like in depth simulators.
The reviewer is female people. And what the **** does it matter? I think she does a great job with reviewing games.
Is he really complaining about how unrealistic it is? If you expect realism in VIDEO GAMES, you will be disappointed most of the time.
@legefy I agree with you, but unlike half of Gamespot members, i don't think GS are being too harsh, i think the quality of games that are being thrown onto the market nowadays i going considerably down hill.
he's complaining about the game not being realistic when it's supposed to be an arcade type game, aka, NOT realistic. if you rate the game on what it's supposed to be, an over the top unrealistic racer, then maybe it isn't so bad.
few games seem to be getting no more than a six these days. if a megaman game came out that would be a different story
and please dont reply me about my broken english , it`s not my first language , and any teenage can understand ! who dont ,... need go back to school hehehehe....
People People ! this game is Arcade and its about speed and Crazy jumps in Amazing visual !! its far from a similation , and its not PURE , its a new opition 4 who want drive in high speed high jumps in Amazing scenarious ,.. this is what Nail`d is about. simple , what`s the problem with the girl costume ? she it`s not most nude ...come on ! is just like how a girl in the age probaly to play this game want to look in a radical sport i give 7.5 for this game easy for the radical jumps and graphics , its is just 4 fun !
Sounds harsh compared to other sites - I can't get it until Feb here in the UK so guess I'll wait and see :(
@patrickiscool I'm sorry if the tone of my voice suggested to you that I didn't give nail'd a fair shake. The biggest problems with nail'd in my opinion are an unconvincing sense of speed, physics that make racing too passive of an experience, unclear track boundaries and extremely inconsistent collision behavior. In my view, these aren't "petty" concerns in an extreme racing game, but very significant ones. I went into nail'd--as I go into every game--with an open mind, and wanting to really like it.
was that a woman's voice? but seriously...this review came off to me as really petty and kind of whiny, and pretty self-satisfied. A little like a pitchfork review...just like the reviewer got up on the wrong side of the bed and whatever they reviewed got shafted because of it.
WTF??? Hahahahahaha! I was thinking at the beguining it was a male voice... than.... Carolin Petit! Seriously is this a joke?
@beebopbeeboo As a fan of This American Life, thanks for making me laugh! :) I like to think that I can actually do a decent Ira Glass impression, but this wasn't it.
Good review, I agree that the sense of speed doesn't look right, and overall its a shame the developer's didn't spend more time on such obvious racing mechanics such as physics and speed, because the environments and level design look truly incredible.
Lol! Ok I think we've all established that with game is (and I quote) "Not Solid", "A Mess", "Lame", "Uninspired", "Lacks Polish", "Etc". Did I forget anything? LOL
That's a shame. It looks like it'd be sort of a neat arcade-style racer, if it was some sorta... I dunno, sci-fi thing with super-fast vehicles. It does look a little over-the-top.
some complaynts don't make any sense I mean what was gamespot hoping about the men outfit? if there is an option for the female pilot to wear a bikini how can that be negative?and the sense of speed feels wright to me.....
its a shame... This game could have been a perfect "typical arcade off road racer". I believe such a concept deserves a second chance. I would like to see a sequel.
This reminds me a lot of Downhill Domination, IMHO one of the most underrated games for the ps2. Also, I agree with the complaint about the female outfits, sexy outfits are OK if it reflects the original source like in wrestling for example, but in a game like this, it just seems to be crossing the line between completely unnecessary and just plain stupid.
Ok I have a slight problem with this review. Why does the reviewer play it off like this game is trying to be realistic. Its obviously trying to be over the top. Talking down about how you can move yourself in the air and the girls wearing stuff that no real racer would wear.
the tracks look pretty innovativ, but anyway is there absolutly no freestyle???? a motocross, atv- game without freestyle?????
@carolynmichelle About the physics: Fair enough. I haven't played the game, and cannot comment on that and furthermore, your opinion is your opinion, I cannot deny you that. About the women: Well, I'm not really saying you should/shouldn't objectify women, I just thought it went with what the rest of the game was trying to do. I actually think that the developers should have done the same with the guys and given them shirtless, ripped torsos. Aside from being more women friendly, it might even make the guys feel more bada**. That said, I appreciate you taking the time to respond to what I said and am very pleased that you took my criticism in a positive light.
@alert0 And no offense to you, but I do enjoy loads of extreme racing games. In my view, the primary issues with nail'd are, as I've stated numerous times, that the sense of speed is strange and unconvincing, that the physics make the racing too passive to be a very involving and exciting experience, and that the inconsistent collision behavior and unclear track boundaries result in numerous frustrations. I love great extreme racing games, but nail'd is, in my opinion, subpar.
The issue about how women are portrayed in the game is certainly secondary to all that. But believe it or not, some women (and possibly even some men who object to the objectification of women--yes, they do exist!) might appreciate knowing that on top of this game's other issues, its portrayal of women is extremely unbalanced with its portrayal of men. Personally, I don't think saying "This game is meant for dudes" makes objectifying women a-okay, but you are free to disagree, and certainly anyone to whom that bit of information isn't relevant when considering whether to purchase and play nail'd can very easily disregard that bit.
