@elancion aaaw dont be mad... just saying.. finishers are part of the game and cant be looked at as a "gimmick". Its just like saying, if Michael jordan was short he wouldnt know how to play basket ball?! are you gonna cut his legs off to make him short?
@bipolar_shango if you took out all the things you mentioned it would still be an excellent fighter. in fact i think you just describe a game that still holds a place in hearts of many fighting game fanatics or people who simply enjoy games from this genre. and that game you just unintentionally/unknowingly described is SUPER STREET FIGHTER 2 which so happens to be one the top fighters of its time. if your comment was intended to insult me or 1up me, make sure to try a little harder next time.put some more thought into it as to where you come out appearing clever. lol
@elancion yeah.. also.. if you take out the supers & water colour graphics from streetfighter it would get a 4.0 .oh just being nice. lol Sorry but those features are part of the game unless you want to release your own version.. say.. Triple super mortal wombat: arcade edition x 75 lol
im sorry, but this game is still not on the level of many of the top notch fighters out there.if you take away the fatalities and other gimmicks (im talking about the blood and gore) thus stripping it down to the bare essence of what makes a fighting game great (the fighting engine) in the end you're just left with an average to below average fighter.don't get me wrong im all for flashiness and visual style in aesthetics and so forth when it comes to overall game design and immersing the player into game world/universe.but you need to have a solid foundation to begin with (the fighting engine). in my opinion this series still has a ways to go before it gains any real respect from the hardcore fighting game community.GameSpot was being nice when they gave it an 8.5, cause it truly deserves a 6.9 in my book. oh and my rating it a 6.9 is just me being nice ,lol.
