All 3 of these look pretty good to me.  Personally, drilling down to the nth detail will only make you miss the game as a whole.  I have an x360, a PS3, and a high end gaming rig.  And when I switch between them, it's not a big deal.  I'm just focusing on how fun the game is.

And to the PC master race, you are correct in that the PC has the "potential" to display the games at their finest and has more flexibility as far as inputs are concerned.  If people really want to flame about consoles vs. PC performance, they need to include a rate that's cost per performance.  I've had a custom PC rig since college (11 years ago), and I've sunk far more money in it than I ever did in consoles.  That's the price you pay for the superior graphics.

Xbox 360, PS3 are around 7 or so years old not 12

@gamespotreader1 Even though you sound a little offensive, I do agree with most of what you said. Responding to the last part of your comment, it actually depends on the game. But, for some games there actually is a "world of difference". Take battlefield 3  for example. NCIXcom shows it in one of his videos.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocVyrtcTpHw

In the above video, unlike gamespot, he actually connects a 360 and a pc one after the other onto the same HD screen (as he is supposed to, to show the real-life comparison), then records it with a video camera. Even then, if you actually stood there where he is, the difference would be even more distinct where a 360 on there would simply seem like a streched-out cartoon compared to the pc. I don't want to offend any console player, but this is simply the truth. The consoles (360,PS3) are 12 years old ancient machines! But, with the coming of the nextgen consoles, things are going to change massively. The nextgen consoles will give a good fight against pc graphically.

I see comments about pc gaming is dead and consoles can do what pc do. In all truth some games on console do compare to pc. That's because consoles have stagnated graphics with its ancient hardware. Unfortunate for pc gamers today we get crap console ports that are still using dx9 programming for consoles. A few good examples of pc games are Crysis and Crysis 3 games consoles just can't touch. If programmers actually programed for dx11 pc ground up games would of moved forward 5 years ago.

I don't understand why people try to demonstrate or even worse try to form a judgment about "pc graphics in comparison to console graphics" from a mere low-pixel 360p internet video. Honestly, how can you possibly discern any difference? Gigs of raw pixel information is being compressed into a few megabytes using compressions and codecs. All visuals are getting crammed into this little 360p window leaving little or none of the actual visual differences for us to see. In these youtube et al vids, I have seen comparisons of lowest pc settings vs ultra-high pc settings, 360 vs highest pc settings, 360 vs ps3 vs pc etc etc, BUT ON HERE THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME REALLY, because all of them are getting under-formatted to the flat pixelated quality of a mere 360p video. So, they are all supposed to pretty much look the same. For all those dumb console fanboys this is probably very cheering. BUT, IF YOU SAT THOSE DUMBNUTS IN FRONT OF A HIGH-END PC AND A SHITTY CONSOLE, THEY WOULD PROBABLY PEE THEIR PANTS IN AMAZEMENT AS THEY BEHOLD THE WORLD OF DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PC GRAPHICS AND A CONSOLE ONE.

Yeah I totally understand what your saying. You couldn't have said it any better: "that's a matter of personal taste". I own a PS3 myself and maybe I just prefer it because that's what I pretty much grew up with since the whole PlayStation world started.

I just don't like it when people start comparing consoles with each other or consoles with PC(which this video tries doing) because they each have their own unique positives.

Obviously we have the PC version looking much clearer than the console versions because of the high end gpus and other heavy configs we put into the rig to run a game at such high details. Consoles are an alternative for those who doesn't like much to game on a keyboard. But devs put some great efforts in putting this game to look best on all platforms. I really loved it on both my PC and PS3. Awesome Game.

PC looks a little clearer but honestly they're all pretty much close enough. It's pretty much controller preference now and what's easiest for the gamer. Yes we know PC's are better (bought this for PC) but there's absolutely nothing wrong with playing this game on anything else. I got 2033 through Steam so I was used to the controls and liked how it was set up, plus I pre-ordered it for $45 so it was the cheapest choice. But it's dumb arguing about the slightest things. We're all fans of the same game, why argue..?

@puppeteer I agree with you. I own a PS3 and an XBox 360. I prefer the PS3 but thats because I have owned it for longer. Graphics etc between the two are very close. Anyone who disagrees is really a loyal fanboy. PC would totally crap over them both Im sure and I would like nothing more than to play games on a PC. However, the cost to maintain the high specs is out of my reach and I guess developers cant always maximize the graphics etc as they would leave alot of mainstream PC gamers behind who have 2-3 year old machines.

@big_pest I love my consoles as much as the next guy but they do not compare with my high in pc rig in anyway. But this whole argument of this or that is better is so stupid its like saying my dad can beat up your dad. People should be happy about were games have made it and there is so many platforms to play games on. 20 years ago it wasn't as easy to play as many games and styles as we have now, and cross platform was a pipe dream at the time.

@anthis_tyrr The only people who disagree are people who can't stand to admit that the console they are using isn't the greatest device for graphics.

I on the other hand play consoles and use PCs cheap ass games to mop up the games I didn't want to pay £40 for on release, and then play them on my laptop. Not desktop level but they play and that is all I personally care about.

That would be the point where the PC fanboys would come in and slander me for using a laptop.

An argument that is never going to end unfortunately. Oh well it is fun sitting on the fence watching the drama sometimes.

justchillin121
justchillin121

@KSSuperhero Actually, whichever version of the video you download, at the end of the day they are all VIDEOS. In video making, there is always this process called "compression", and this is where the loss of quality comes from. 360p/720p/1080p = resolution (the number of pixels or individual color dots across the screen). Resolution is a different thing from compression.

When a video says it is 1080p, it does not automatically mean it is better. It simply means it is made to fill 1920x1080 (=2073600) pixels on the screen with its video data. The quality of this "video data" within the video determines how the video will be (crap or good) to your eyes/perception. That's why if you convert a crappy 120p video into 1080p, to us it won't become any better looking, it still will be crappy, it will just get larger, even though it will technically be 1080p with over 2 million pixels. Because the "data" in this 1080p lacks originality, its just the mathematical magnification of the 120p data.

In video making, "compression" messes with this very thing called "data", regardless of what resolution you want your video to be. This is also true for images. For example, at any resolution, a BMP image will always have a higher/better quality than a JPG image. An image in 1080p BMP format may have a significant quality-difference from the same image in 1080p JPG format (depending on the force of compression you choose for the JPG), even though both are 1080p. Because, BMP is raw uncompressed "data" and JPG is not. It is "compressed data" with some loss of information in it (at the same resolution).

With that being said, the above video should not be taken as a factor (at all) in determining the graphical qualities/capabilities of the involved machines. Because it is a highly-compressed VIDEO after all (no matter what res.). I don't think this was the intent of gamespot either (read their note, "Note: Video compression may alter the true visual appearance of the game."). I agree with gamespotreader1, if you want to see the difference, put two 1080p HD screens side by side, one hooked up to a high-end pc and the other to a console. Run the game, set your settings (on pc) and see the difference for yourself.

@KSSuperhero @big_pest Mate I agree with you wholeheartily... the reason I can say pc gaming is dead is because all of the good games come out on the xbox first first.. its a clever ploy now for then to make an xbox like a pc.. cross platform .. no way... hundreds of games on the xbox since the ps 4 games have come out.. not an issue

@big_pest @justchillin121 Bro, you are just spouting your own personal thoughts and theories which really have no basis whatsoever. You are probably not reading my responses in their entirety, making me again and again state what I already clearly stated in my preceding posts. You said "Piracy is rife with other systems too so you cant base your arguments on that". In all honesty, it is just untrue. Piracy is far from "rife" on consoles. In fact, the scale of piracy on consoles as opposed to on pc is so little, it won't be wrong to say that piracy in the console world simply does not exist. And I am not just making it up, I am simply telling you what real stats say. Do your research. The below research work from tweakguides lays down why piracy is an "almost exclusive" to pc.

http://www.tweakguides.com/Piracy_6.html

You can read it if you want. Its really common sense. One of the reasons is as I said earlier, most console game consumers are laymen (in terms of tech. know-how) who just can't think beyond the scope of inserting the game-discs in their consoles and play, let alone going so far as to actually putting a mod-chip in the console or flashing it with custom firmware. In fact, that will totally destroy the whole point of having a console which is - its "ease of availability" and the "plug-and-play" feature. While on the other hand, pirating on pc is as easy as downloading a song. This (along with several other reasons pointed out in the article) gives developers the reason not to direct their products towards the pc market.

All this to tell you that pc may not be the king of titles, but it definitely is a superior platform with a superior gameplay experience in every fathomable way (whether you like it or not). Its just unfortunate that it is struck with problems like piracy (etc) and thus not able to attract developers attention.

big_pest
big_pest

@justchillin121 Mate there are no ifs and buts ITS DEAD AS A DOORNAIL from a total gaming point of view.... Ive got a PC... im not stupid I used to think like you.... Have you got a console? I have an xbox and a wii which I picked up last week for nothing.... Piracy is rife with other systems too so you cant base your arguments on that.... save your pc upgrade money which for me was thousands and buy a console... loads quicker, put the disk in and away you go... online is better and slicker... pc gaming you usually need an xbox pad anyway... the tower is clunky and not suitable for tv use so you need a massive monitor... my xbox is on a 40 inch sony 1080p lcd tv... whats your pc on? and what pad do you use?

justchillin121
justchillin121

@big_pest @justchillin121 Well, there is absolutely no doubt that a lot of games are simply not there for pc. It was worse a couple years ago with a severe scarcity of games for the pc platform, but as I pointed out earlier, with the coming of things like "steam", now a days most (if not all) games are coming for pcs as well. But, also as I said earlier, there is this huge problem with the pc market and that is piracy. Piracy cripples it and prevents developers from enriching its market. That's the sole reason why you see all the good games coming for consoles first. Developers don't simply want to target the launch of their hard-built games for a platform that will steal them. I totally DISAGREE with you when you say pc is "terrible" for gaming and/or game experience isn't better on pc. If "ease of availability" , "larger market" and your "personal preference" are the reasons why you use consoles, then I respect that. But, the rest of what you said was really bogus (no offense). Neither is pc gaming dead nor is it going to.

big_pest
big_pest

@justchillin121 Mate, Ive had a PC for years probably when you were at school and have gone right the way through them.. first comp was a p2 450 in 1998 and ive had every decent game since. In 2012 I bought an xbox 360 and found that for gaming it wipes the floor with the pc for the actual gaming experience... How many times have all of the best games come out on consoles first. You have actually backed up my argument from start to finish with your comments with the fact that the PC is terrible for gaming which it is. Ive got a PC too which will nail any game for for all of the reasons you have listed purely for gaming its better. Someone mentioned above about if the pc tech 5 years ago had been adopted then wed have much better games now... consoles are stagnated and pcs are more flexible.. totally agree... pc grahics are generally better but gameplay certainly isn't, online play is not better at all.... I use the pc now for word processing and for my 8 year old to play my back catalogue.. ROLL ON THE XBOX ONE

justchillin121
justchillin121

@big_pest The reason why there are less games for pc than for consoles is because of the market. The console market is much larger than the pc market. Why do you think developers make games? To sit and watch how beautiful their games look on a high-end pc after they have finished making it? Or, is it because they want to make some money out of their games by selling them? I am sure you know "why". The larger market of the console games give more money to the developers, so naturally that's where all the developers flock.

So, why is the console market more solid than pc market? Is it because pcs are costly? is it because people don't like pc gaming? Or, is it because gaming is not fun on pc? Well, none of the above.

1. PCs are actually not much more expensive than consoles. You can buy a mid-range PC for as low as $400 and play any modern game with medium to high settings. And yes, you can also do browsing, listening to songs, video editing, movie watching, chatting, facebooking, twittering etc etc whatever pcs can do -all for that $400 :).

2. PCs will give a smoother gameplay experience with its flexible controls like mouse and keyboard.

3. PC gamers will not usually want to go to console gaming once they have tasted it, so its undoubtedly equally or more fun.

So, why is the pc market smaller than the console's? Because, pc is an "open" platform. A large portion of pc market is lost to the pirates. Almost every game made for pc is a victim of piracy. And usually, pc gamers are "more knowledgeable" as compared to the "layman consumers" of the console gaming. As someone in the tech-field (I don't remember who) pointed out, "someone who knows how to install and combine 2 graphics cards in his system to double up gameplay performance should easily know how to pull up a game from a pirate site". So, the "layman masses" of the console market are really easier to make money out of. The developers don't want their efforts go to waste, so pc is the last platform they would want to make games for. And a lot of times, pc games are just console-ports.

But, with the advent of things like "steam", things are changing. Now a days, most good games have pc versions :).

@Candyman_GR @big_pest Ive never had a PS... The first 16 or 17 lines of your argument are total nonsense... The only thing you said that was true was the technology side ie adding a 7850 graphics card into an xbox or something like that...consoles do follow pcs.. if that's the case though with the technology why are all of the best games ONLY ON CONSOLES?? Look at the top 10 games list on gamespot for both pc and xbox... you cant tell me the pc games list is superior... go and enjoy your 3tb hard drive while im having fun PLAYING DECENT GAMES

And in PS you dont install games? Seriously?
Consoles.. bah... Graphics awuful, autoaiming in FPS because the controlers are NOT suitable, processor htat is not suitable for console (CELL is good but NOT for games)...
Should i speak about Cinavia? Should i speak for the upscaled fake 1080 resolutions? Come on.... Consoles are FOR children, and ignorants. They are easier to use bu they suck. Simple real truth. Pc gaming will never die, because computer gaming was BORNED for computers. And for SERIOUS gamers, PC will be the only choice. You get it or not?
Consoles will ALWAYS follow the road pc techonlogy has created.
