I've been a huge fan of the Metal gear series, From the Original Metal Gear, to Portable Ops, I've loved them all. This however, is one game I will more then likely not be buying. They have gone from "tactical espionage action" to a Devil May Cry hack'n'slash based on the MG world. I don't even want to know why raiden has his exoskeleton back on after being rebuilt at the end of MGS4 and being reunited with his family. This game lost everything I've loved about the series, although I'm sure it will attract some people, just as the recent Devil May Cry has it's fan boys over the original. I personally will be looking forward and waiting for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros.

I have lost every single excitment for this game. I was so hyped for it, with raiden being my favorite Metal gear character. But Konami ruined it with their unfair spoiler trailers. They have literally shown us every thing in the game. They've shown almost ALL boss battles, the entire plot except for the ending, every single fighting move you can do, and a load of other gameplay elements. Trailers are meant to excite the gamer, not show him the entire game. They've been releasing countless, COUNTLESS trailers for the past month or so. WHY?!!!

Awful. A disgrace to the Metal Gear name. Pathetic hack and slash gameplay.

Some things aparentlycan't be cut in half, and the things that can, magically disappear after a few seconds. Pathetic.

Not to mention that Raiden's purpose in the game makes no sense.

@totto210 Check out Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros. This MG Game is being made by a completely different studio then previous game. Metal Gear Series is still alive.

@Zeronz112 They explain in the game. You could have at least researched why he went back to fighting. Raiden needed money to provide for his family, his existence isn't on record so he took a job with a Private Security Group who help war torn countries on the road to peace. He is friends with the leader, Boris, and has known him since Area 51. Boris was a member of the Paradise Lost Army from MGS4. Raiden took it as an easy job and would come back to his family once he had the money for his family; he was only involved in security and military training.

Raiden comes back to fighting after his friend and client N'Mani, an African Prime Minister, is murdered by another PMC Group called Desperado. They not only murder N'Mani, but also cut off Raiden's arm and eye. He learns that Desperado has been terrorizing multiple countries and are involved with other terrorist. They are also involved with human trafficking, and Raiden learns that Desperado plans may go deeper than what it seems. So Raiden takes the job to find Desperado and stop them while also on a mission to avenge N'Mani and his personal loss.

The game is spin-off that is trying something different for a different audience. This game is for fans who've wanted to play a Cyborg Ninja for a long time and the way Raiden was shown in MGS4 cutscenes he would not work in an all out stealth game. So before he we start saying Metal Gear is dead or whatever why don't we at least try the game then judge if it was good or not. Kojima himself seems to love it.

@raiden-94 I don't get it....you're the only one ruining anything, and for yourself...next time watch them with your eyes closed and ears plugged....

@raiden-94 You know that is a lie right, you've barely seen anything in this game. Also you didn't have to look at the trailers.

@Jawehawk-DK this games all about the gameplay from what ive seen, played.

gonna be true here: the environments look lackluster and some textures suck and the issues uve mentioned but what do we get in return? 60fps gameplay with raiden and enemies looking as detailed as possible. Basically it seems to me that mostly things that u wont notice during a fight have been neglected but not to an unplayable extent

Frankenstrat247
Frankenstrat247

@Jawehawk-DK Were you bitching and moaning when Ac!d was released as well?

And why do you think those things disappear?  Do you really expect systems over 5 years old to just magically have the memory to keep track of everything you cut up all the time?

RichterB17
RichterB17

@Jawehawk-DK What do you mean his purpose in the game makes no sense? He's a Cyborg, there are other Cyborgs terrorizing different nations and Raiden is the only one to stop them.

Zeronz112

@RichterB17 @Zeronz112 I never said metal gear is dead, in fact its still strong with Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros. However, I just don't feel this game will be up to par with the previous metal gear games. I've played the demo and it all seems like one big linear path from one fight to the other. I admit being able to control where you slash your sword is pretty cool, but other then that it feels like any other Japanese hack n slash game. You press circle and triangle to do some attacks then press an action button and mash something down, rinse and repeat. Unless they add some fundamental changes to it I'm almost positive it will be lumped into "another action game" category. I'm sure this game will have it's audience and get some decent reviews but it's just not for me.  Kojima was also smart and gave the production to another company because he realizes the potential backlash the game could have on the metal gear series if it flops. I really am hoping for the best, but from what I`ve seen so far I doubt it.

@RichterB17 @Jawehawk-DK Really? As far as I know, Snake took out a LOT of Gekkos by himself.... This demo showed to us nothing so terrible, any army could solve the problem... Call Bayoneta or Ninja Gayden, or DMC, they can help!

@Zeronz112 @H4num4n

If you're not a hardcore fan on the MGS franchise and haven't already accepted the whole story-mumbo-jumbo and get to play MGS4 i think your reaction would be pretty much the same as his. Mine was for sure, because i only played the first one on the psx back in the day. And then i played MGS4. It was quite...hillarious.

Zeronz112
Zeronz112

@H4num4n @Zeronz112 Lmao,  considering MGS 4 got top ratings for the ps3 on almost ever review magazine and website out there kinda proves this video is made by an idiot who plays the game on easy and gets frustrated with sneaking. Enjoy button mashing.

Zeronz112
Zeronz112

@H4num4n For the third time, please read my comments before replying. I did say the game was more then likely going to get decent reviews. I also never once called it a "bad game" or that I "hate it" so calling me a hater is moot. I'm merely stating my opinion based on facts. If you don't like this, too bad. Enjoy your MGR and I will enjoy my MGS.

H4num4n
H4num4n

@Zeronz112 @H4num4n

I completed the game twice about a week ago. I never talked about the demo, wich is a very old build btw.

You and the other haters will get their eyes opened when the first reviews are coming in.

And lastly: I really hope that you don't count the framedrops when you cut an object into to much pieces as technical issues. Your logic should've told you that this will happen if you keep producing more and more geometry/polygons that have to be calculated by the physics engine with each cut. Even when the game was runing @30fps.

Zeronz112
Zeronz112

@H4num4n @Zeronz112 You clearly have a lack of understanding. My problem is with the game, the only thing I said I liked about it was that it was metal gear. You obviously haven't played the demo enough if you haven't experienced any of the technical issues, aside from the sloppy presentation.
This argument is pointless, if you enjoy the game buy it. I will be waiting for Ground Zeros, a real metal gear game.

H4num4n
H4num4n

@Zeronz112

The comnparison with GOW that you made was just plain stupid. If you had compared it to any other game i mentioned it had been fine for me.

 "for a MGS/Bayonetta Clone. Happy?:)"

There you go! Much better!

For a second i was tempted to ask you about the technical issues you seem to came across while playing. Considering that the game runs perfect @60fps but that would be pointless in your case.

After all you seem to much butthurt about the game having a metal gear theme to it:)

Zeronz112
Zeronz112

@H4num4n I never said GOW was good, its actually one of my least favourite H&S. I merely compared the game to it. According to gamespot, the website we are debating on, it consistently receives some of the highest ratings in the genre, and the fact you dislike the game has nothing to do with the comparison. I could just of easily compared the game to any of the ones you mentioned, and I still think you would be replying just the same. I've played, and beaten DMC 3 on Dante Must Die, when it first came out, and if you are talking about the most recent DMC then you shouldn't reply any further and should be shaking your head in disappointment. I've played my fair share of H&S, both good and bad, and I don't find anything special about this game, except for the fact its in the Metal Gear Universe, and the slashing mechanic is a unique and cool feature. Other then that there is nothing that appeals to me and the game it riddled with technical issues from what I've seen. Like I said in previous posts, which I am sure you have also neglected to read, I am sure this game will get decent reviews and have an audience such as yourself and many other obvious fan boys. Though unless it makes some major improvements, to ME it will just be another action game in the list of many.  By all means, when this game comes out, you can pay $59.99 plus tax for a MGS/Bayonetta Clone. Happy?:)

H4num4n
H4num4n

@Zeronz112 @lloiddy01 @H4num4n

H&S games are defined trough their gameplay that involves deep and complex fighting mechanics that are easy to learn but hard to master- see DMC, NG and Bayonetta(and soon MGR). I couldn't care less about flashy graphics as long as the action is fluid and fun.

GOW has none of that and if you think so my assumption that you don't know much about H&S games was right :)

Zeronz112
Zeronz112

@lloiddy01 @H4num4n Oh right I forgot, All the enemies look the same, environments are bland, and everything you hit disappears in seconds. Couldn't be eye candy if it wanted to.

Zeronz112
Zeronz112

@lloiddy01 @H4num4n Lmao, the only thing from the video from the MGS series,  is the cardboard box, and Raida,n and you think MGR is not eye candy? Keep telling yourself that. If you call an action game which consistently got some of the highest ratings in the genre "dull" then I don't see this game having any more "substance" to you then the GOW series. I'm comparing this to GOW because they are in the same genre, and therefore  comparable. If you play the demo you get the same kind of "eye candy" from the slashes and runs and jumps as you do in GOW. Would it be more suitable for you if I compared this to Bayonetta? another OKAY H&S produced by PG. If you don't have the mental capacity to fully read though a comment don't reply with ignorant answers.

"for a metal gear/God of war clone"

That's were i stopped reading. You don't know much about H&S games do you? Maybe they aren't for you but please don't compare MGR to such a dull game like GOW that is eye candy style over substance only.

Zeronz112
Zeronz112

@KornKrusier769 @Zeronz112 I am actually quite informed on the subject, thank you very much. I also don't think there is any "misinformation" on my posts, it is all merely an opinion. I have played through the mediocre demo, and my "gut feeling" is that this feels more like a money grab then a full fledged addition to the metal gear series. If you disagree with my opinion I respect that and you have every right to dish out $59.99 plus tax for a metal gear/God of war clone when it comes out. To me, the metal gear series has always been about the character bonds, the story, the stealth and action, and the choice of going through the levels guns blazing, or sneaking around, and personally this game feels like it takes away most, if not all of that. Like I said in previous posts, I am sure this game will have its audience, and I am sure it will get decent reviews. Although, to ME the only  opinion that really counts when it comes down to me buying a video game is that this game from what I have experienced first hand in the demo, trailers and dev diaries, will not be up to par with the previous games in the series.

Again, my opinion.
If you disagree you have every right to, just don't think I am "writing off a game on my guy feeling"

P.S. Kojima can say all he wants but the fact its  a "PLATINUMGAMES production" won't really hurt Kojima Studios very much IF the game flops.

Metal Gear Rising is a failed kojima productions game that was in production from 2008 and "canceled" in 2010. Kojima felt like it was going no where but wanted the story and ideas to continue on and handed it over to PLATINUMGAMES.

"Things like the story, characters,  and the cutting system were interesting, but the game design just wasn't there" -Kojima
I still don't think the "game design" is there.

KornKrusier769
KornKrusier769

 @Zeronz112 You're pretty misinformed. Unless you want to disagree with words straight from Kojima's mouth and claim to know what he thinks better than everyone else, including him. I'm not going to hand deliver you the evidence either; go find Kojima's words for yourself. Like Richter said, at least research your opinion before writing off this game because of your gut feeling. Your posts are dotted with misinformation or assumptions that could be clarified easily with some deeper research.

"Kojima was also smart and gave the production to another company because he realizes the potential backlash the game could have on the metal gear series if it flops."

Completely not the reason; makes it clear you haven't looked into it nearly enough or are ignoring facts.
