@foxglove1313 Just because the Reapers believed that doesn't mean that it is true. Look at the other ending and you will see that they can.
The idea that 'organic' life and 'synthetic' life (whatever that is supposed to mean) can't coexist is a f**ked out plot device that wasn't very interesting to begin with. I've already seen Hollywood run with this tired idea in the Terminator movies, the Matrix movies, I Robot, Stealth, Tron, WarGames, 2001, Star Wars (droid army), Star Trek (Borg), Battlestar Galactica, etc, so why are we seeing it again in this video game series? To begin with, as a philosophical point this idea doesn't hold water. If we met God (whatever that means) would we want to kill him/her/it? No!!! So why would any sentience we give rise to want to destroy us? They wouldn't, so can Bioware please turn their imaginations back on and write something decent?
Peeps. You kind of need to play the entire trilogy to understand why this ending is nonsensical. I get what the writers are trying to say etc., but it simply does not fit into the narrative. It is an objectively bad ending from a story telling perspective, plus it does not deliver on what was promised again and again through bioware's advertising and official statements. Better Business Bureau calls it "false advertising". the synthesis ending is probably the worst, since it incorporates the most space magic and nonsense if you just examine it using simple logic.
After pausing the game and spending 10 minutes thinking, I decided that I was going to finish the fight and end the reapers for good. Im glad I did, cause I got the Shepard breathing scene at the end. THough the endings werent great, I was damn happy that I picked the best of the three choices on my first play through without any knowledge of the ending before getting there.
I must have missed something... this is such a philosophical and powerful ending plot; it makes you appreciate the Mass Effect series even more. What are so many people complaining about?? It just makes me want to see this whole game made into a full blown movie now
this is what happend on my ending but why? why all died? why it's not like a good destroy ending when just the synthetics died (destroyed)
Best ending out of three for one reason only: a 20 sec segment of someone in N7 armor lying in ruins and taking a sudden breath (for some reason does not appear in this video).
u want shepard and other be alive again ? just for another ME with captain shepard !!??? the ending is great for ME trilogy !!!!!
@Gravelord_Nito i don't mean that geth-like creatures will be hunting every bird, rabbit and lizard in every world, i mean that the industry needed to support them, for them to "reproduce", allied with a galaxy scaled war will destroy most species in the universe. not to mention that one good way of getting rid of the fleshy things shooting robots is to find a way to decay planet's atmospheres. "if it goes to land, leave no land for it to return to" or something like that.
They would save the game and all these comments about endings by making a dlc to continue the story. A dlc that all choices you made matters but hey this can be really THE END, thats why they did the multiplayer. Complete epic storyline with poopy endings continue playing multiplayer until a new hope of dlc. If they are thaaat greedy they will make a multiplayer dlc, I just hope for a dlc to continue the story. ALSO think about this: Were the endings bad? Or they were so awesome and leaves you with your mouth wide open and hope for something to continue but your brain knows this is THE END and nothing will change it so it makes it look bad?
Such a terrible ending. So many plotholes. No previous choices made an impact on the end, nor even the ending choices aside from what flavor of space magic you get. And yes, space magic, or are you honestly going to tell me that what the beams do is logical? One choice... change everyone's DNA to make them a fusion of organic and inorganic material. Oh yes apparently there's a circuit board gene. Another choice wipes out all.synthetic life, including Shep since he has some robot parts. How? How does an energy beam determine if my goddamn toaster is an AI or just a toaster? Does that mean people with prosthetic limbs are going to get vaporized? Why does the energy beam wreck the Normandy? I guess if you chose cinnamon ending maybe its because EDI is destroyed but it happens with the other endings. Does that mean all ships in the armada wrecked as well and are either crash landed or lifeless in space? Why are your companions on the Normandy when they were just with you on Earth a few moments ago? I feel like the Red Letter Media guy reviewing star wars and commenting on how nothing makes sense at all. It takes some crazy mental gymnastics to find this ending logical and satisfying, especially given the trilogies setting and themes.
I felt the choices offered at the end (which were not fully represented in this video) were amazing and well though out. I sat in front of my TV trying to figure out what would be best, and where I would ethically sit in such a situation. I simply wish there was a way to save the mass relays, and I wish the outcome videos weren't os similar. I feel the over all ending is great it is just lacking closure.
This ending mirrors the demise of the game company called Bioware. Mass Effect 3 was supposed to mark Bioware on the map of gaming excellence, all it did was mark thier name on thier grave. The 1st nail in the coffin was Dragon Age 2, followed by TOR and now the last nail in the coffin with Mass Effect 3. If you wanted to destroy yourself congratulations.....you succeeded. RIP Bioware, another gaming company loses the plot entirely.
A female Shepard? How odd. Its obvious you're supposed to select control. Destroy just seemed too cruel.
The origins of the Stargazer scene... the whole ending really... have been discovered: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm82gjZDIDU Artistic integrity my A**!
Personally this ending kind of reminds me of the Neon Genesis Evangelion:Death and Rebirth. Anyone else agree? SPOILER *Here's a link to what I mean* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDnvy4_rGzA&feature=related Here's another...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXJ73Wsi3UA&feature=related
this is familiar... anyone remember matrix reloaded?? the choice: join the matrix as a controller and select a group of humans to live and the cycle starts again or destroy everything and everyone will start scrach cero again.... you bioware silly writers... you copy and make a few changes so it will fit on this game... in each choice neo die... so in the third he make a diferent choice and he die again... make somthing more original and make a better final... i want sheppard and tali together again!
Same thought. Was the same **** as Lost ending. It might be silly, but as they are not realeasing any other Mass Effect sucessor, just use your imagination and put there the ending you want.. Haha!
I thought the "perfect" ending i had worked so hard for was bad but this is just brutal... the people at Bioware are gamers themselves... how could they bring themselves to do this...
I do like the endings...if the whole game wasn't about your choices throughout the series....i just get the feeling that all those things mean nothing when you get to the last 10 or so mins of the series. Unless all those choices are what give you options at the end...cause this fem shep had but one...and the normandy scene was different than mine.
@TheDarkNut yep, it's hardf to achive both army , Tali must be admiral , me 1 Mission me 2 Mission done not exiled and Must Tell them to prepare for Reaper invasion and not get into war with geths, also trust legion and reprogram geth, trust legion 3rd game Be nice with quarians = quarian, geth 300 war peace and both army :))) But my 4 year gameplay was crushed By 3 Incomplete endings :D
@wexorian I was shock after my first playthrough, I went to youtube and found out the merge ending. And yeah... Tali got exiled in my 2nd playthrough in ME2 (my first playthrough didn't got her exiled but I didnt use that save to import) which resulted me in ME3 to obliterate the Geth. I guess that's the reason I didnt have the Synthesis ending?
@TheDarkNut it's about if you have geth army and if you think that geth are Worthy of being Race, i got both army geth n quarians if you want to get both army yoou must replay me 2 and Do legion Reprogram geth's trust him how you can in 3rd game and also tali mission too they must be firend with each other.
That'd odd. This is the ending I chose but my Earth didn't get destroyed. There was cheering from the soldiers when the Reapers went down but the planet didn't get destroyed. Ether way it still sucked!
@peteywentout you've seen how geth thinks, right? synthetics will only have beef with sentient organic life, not ALL life. but i do agree with you on what you said later, that's completely true. the ending is horrible. and what on earth was normandy doing in a 'jump' when the relays exploded?? the whole ending is so silly its unreal. when you chose to destroy reapers, shepard fires his gun at this huge...conduit/thing that anyone normal would thing would explode...walking right UP to it, bcs we all know, a firearm has a 2 feet range.
@Gravelord_Nito i don't see it that way, the reapers, kill/harvest advanced life forms, so other syns like the geth 2.0 won't eliminate ALL life, intelligent or not. the thing that bothered me more was the non closure of any of the endings, you still don't know who are the reaper, where do they come from, and most of all who the hell created them (or just the first one), since they are synthetic... lets just hope that ea isn't forcing bw to answer that in another dlc.
i laughed my ass off, at the reason WHY reapers do what they do. we(the synthetics) kill all organics so that the synthetics they will eventually create...wouldn't. the thing the catalyst has the for of a little kid, makes all the more impression of a LITTLE BRAT!!
I was at 3600+ EMS (the lower nurmber) and had all three endings to choose from... to also have Shepard survive, you need 4000... or 5000... dunno exactly.
That's the destroy/vaporize ending (where earth is destroyed too)... I know, you can hardly tell a difference.^^
@wexorian Yeah I noticed this too. My Destroy ending, the soldiers on London didn't got incinerated unlike shown in this video. So this is one of the so called 16 endings? I also noticed only the destroy platform went up. Basically giving you one option only. What are the requirements to have the 3 choices be given? My first playthrough, I was not given the merge choice.
"space magic" LOL! I chose that ending based on the logic that it seemed to be the only option where my entire crew weren't fragged. Instead it appears I committed them all to live out their days covered in sparkles whilst celebrating free love with anything that moves. Garrus, I apologise. Well, I would if I knew what happened to him...
