Mass Effect 2 Overlord DLC - Casey Hudson
We talk to Casey Hudson, the lead producer for Mass Effect 2, on the space opera's latest DLC episode, Overlord.
Um...with all these mini DLC stories coming out for ME2 and such which is COOL and all but I have one thing which has been a constant ....itch to me. WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE CERBERUS NETWORK IF YOU STILL ARE PAYING FOR DLC? I mean COME ON! WHat do you get for getting the Cerb net? 1 DLC pack, a few extra items and a cheesy substitute for the Mako which you cant even get out of except for 'unique loading areas'? The whole 'attempt to mooch' as much money from the customers these days is getting ridiculous! They charge for EVERYTHING meanwhile half the time its not even worth the time to WASTE to make. Can they PLEAAAAAAASSSSSEEE stop ripping us off? THe game is AWESOME and desearves extra content, but dont use the game to exploit your need for an extra buck
Achievements is another reason that I want to buy this DLC.....Carey's Hudson interview is the first reason.....(he really conviced me)
So far all DLC for ME2 has been a complete letdown. Skipping this, not throwing more cash down that toilet.
I've already bought the DLC the first day I saw it on XBL, 'cause it's only 560MSP (about $7), but I haven't played it yet. It's gotta be better than the Kasumi mission.
"Our largest DLC yet, sitting at around 2, to 2.5 hours." LOL does he have any idea of who plays these games? I can spend 2 hours eating a sandwich
@the narrow minded people below As digitalheadbutt just stated, you have no clue if they work on ME3 or not, and afaik, they do..i bet their teams consist more then 5 people working on their products.. And "late" dlc are great for us that goes back and play trough the game again, choosing different path etc, and at the same time, experience new content Its a Win Win scenario
@filiba and Arcius_Azrael What makes you think they aren't working on ME3? I doubt it take very many resources to make these DLC packs, they probably have in house tools similar to the downloadable tools they have for Dragon Age to make add-ons. If I was Bioware I would turn lose the less experienced game designers and artists on DLC while the heavy hitters are all working on ME3. Probably won't see ME3 until FallWinter 2011 or more Likely Winter/Spring 2012 what with most of their resources being wrapped up in getting Star Wars: The Old Republic out in Spring 2011. Considering how they have started adding value by making your previous playthroughs effect the sequels I bet there will be some value to it. And if not then I help some artist or designer feed his kids or pay his mortgage while the ME game comes out. Shucks. I haven't been disappointed by them yet so I will keep buying the DLC until it isn't fun anymore.
Two hours? Forget it. I just finished playing through ME2 and it was awesome -- but this took about 50 hours. I would rather wait for ME3 than play a few more missions on ME2. In the meantime, I want to finish playing through Alan Wake and move on to something else I haven't played yet like Bioshock.
Arcius_Azrael you are so right! i don't understand how they expect us to buy more and more DLC that has no real value! 2 F' hours isn't even worth my time.
I'd love the hammer head if it was... A tank... and not a flimsy piece of air tight cardboard with rockets and a cannon attatched to it. I'd also like the DLC armor sets to be customizable or pieces instead of a suit that comes in one color... But they're lazy that way ;-;
hammerhead was pretty sweet i think. I am hoping this mission gives lot's of exp and money so that i don't have to create another good character to max it to lvl 30 for mass effect 3.
The greatest example of DLC is Borderlands' DLC! 2 hours is ok, but not enough. I say DLC should be at least 5 hours of extra game time (excl. equipment DLC of course)
Loved how Casey squeezed in the ill-received Equilizer Pack as a replacements to new weapons/armor. It was a bad DLC Casey...just let it go. Edit: But I do favor more story in the DLCs, something that has been missing from a lot of BW DLCs lately.
@ pyro2007: dude, he gave a story outline, he didnt give you every single detail. and also its a DLC not an expansion
Oh, great, more bases with no survivors... ME1 flashback.. :) lol seriously though, for 400 it sounds great.
It would have been nice if he would have mentioned something about price...heck he already gave away the story behind it so mentioning price would have been common courtesy at the very least.
Kasumi's DLC was good.Im glad they focused more on story for Overload DLC.Is this for ps3 also?LOL sorry piss 3 boys
kasumi was ok but it was a DLC what do you want? The best DLC was Lost and the damned. That was Damn suprising, a new game using your old. Rockstar Rocks!
I hate it when they do that, I love casey and Bio Ware but they give everything away, now i dont even have to play the dlc cuz i know whats gunna happen
Rouge AI? We've seen this a hundred times already! It's like mass effect's version of the hooker with a heart of gold. How hard is it to come up with a new idea as far as the story goes?
