Magicka: Wizard Wars Gameplay Demo - Spells, Mayhem, and Lots of Fun
Designer Niclas Karlsson guides us through 16 minutes of gameplay in the delightfully chaotic Magicka: Wizard Wars.
Magicka is ok but got bored of it quickly because you start off with everything and their was no leveling system. So you couldn't create unique characters. This game may be different but if it's anything like the original I wont bother.
Controller mode? Point and click just doesn't feel like fun to some people. Not saying it's worse, just saying it's not fun for everyone. Plus, mouse and keyboard is uncomfortable on a sofa.
Games like these worry me when one can actually buy "customizations" for your character other than purely aesthetic changes. Things get nerfed and buffed, that is the nature of multiplayer games, but when you purchase a power upgrade I can even see myself getting annoyed if it gets nerfed to the point of uselessness until they have time to fix it.
With analogy, league of legends nerfed Twitch to be completely worthless for more than a year. Although I was annoyed as hell, I accepted his fate cause he needed significant balancing. But the important thing is I didn't specifically buy him with real money, nor did I have to in the first place.
In Magicka items that are only purchasable through real money offer clear character customization. I could see myself being far more frustrated if the devs took their sweet time to fix/balance any item I would purchase. I am not so sure they will have the resources to maintain a balanced game with these purchasable items
Great the New magicka will be a lot shallower for idiots and a lot uglyer XD istead of making the game even more varyed, adding new elements like death and nature and mix them like natur nature fire = fire plant spike or nature nature life = healing herb that constantly heals you over time or death +fire blue fire that fears the enemy.. or new element as rock + fire = lava lava lava Earth earth AOE Lava quake Xd or death + nature AOE death strangling plant or man eating plants, (ok enough about that) they are dumbing down the game to the point where its simple so evry raging retarded 6 year old could win so that they wouldnt cry....... gg..... no thanks.
Way too many buttons/spells to keep track of.
The Q W E R like they use in LoL is already enough, but here they've added A S D F and 1 2 3 4 as well.....
Looks like this can become quite a fun MOBA game. I just wonder if BLC players will be happy with this.
This is all great and good guys, but please make sure you iron out as many bugs (esspecialy the online ones :() before release :D.
@jubeio is it point-and-click like diablo 3? Does it have a cooperative online mode?
@BlackaliciousX I dont think their items will suffer from being OP since they only boost a specific school, and while boosting one school, your resistance against other schools get's lowered. I guess that's how it's going to work, making you stronger and weaker at the same time.
I think they're aiming at "buy your playstyle".
And I think all "stat"changing items is unlockable for free by just playing, like in LoL, and if you fancy one item, you can by cosmetics for that item to look different, I guess?

@b0sse Thats LoL player's problem that your brain cant handle more than 4 buttons.
@b0sse But that's what makes the game so much fun. Every time I play Magicka with friends, it always devolves into almost random key presses where we get each other killed, in a fun way.
I just memorized the lightning bolt spell and kept casting it over and over, despite the fact that I kill my friends as often as the enemy... until someone casts rain, and then I electrocute myself.
