i can not f*cking wait! all the younguns need to go back and watch these movies, highlights of my 80's childhood.
not to be a bast but this would have been chief with multiplayer, fighting other peoples customized cars on the dessert tundra or whatever the fuck its called
They are acting like everything in the game is set in stone. Im sure a lot of things will change and what they saw was not fully representative of final product. Seems like a fun game to me.
Wait... Mad Max, lone warrior in a desolate wasteland... isn't actually "lone" cos this chumbucket thing is always with you? Ergh. And no proper melee combat system sounds bad. I didn't expect this to be any good, the same way Aliens always gets ruined -lets hope they have plenty of time to fix some stuff.
Seb looks like Matthew Broderick in his better days...
And Max looks like a Billy Zane they finally wrung from the wreck of the Titatnic...
mad max looks so awesom.
It appears very similar to Rage in many respects. Let's hope Avalanche is better with this genre than was id.
Avalanche's best work so far has been Just Cause 2... yawn. My advice, DON"T PRE-ORDER!
I really love mad max, and the road warrior... I've been waiting for a game based on this IP for a LONG time... Kinda nervous about how this is going to turn out, from the above interview. :/
MAD MAX WAS A LONER!!!!!!!!!!!! Here they go again screwing up something that does not belong to the Universe of Mad Max. He did everything himself. The only companion that he should have is a Dog.
They need to release a demo, simply because the screenshots show Mad Max driving what looks like a 70's model Stingray. I pray that is a random car Mad Max jumped into, because the Interceptor was a 1973 Ford Falcon coupe. The designers model of the Interceptor in the pics(if it is the Interceptor) are horrible!
People complaining this will suck?
You can easily see that this is going to be a real game. Scares most of the casuals away so that's a good thing. Not just another brainless shooter since the ammunition is scarce, so you need to do some resource management just like in old-school FPS. Now i'm even more excited about this.
Haha, yeah me too. Looks great. Loved the movies.
@nick-nikol The game is in pre-alpha and probably won't be out till fall next year. They have over a year on this. Plus have you seen the game to be making such a comment?
@nick-nikol You havent even played it.
@FULGOREY2K impossible. lets just hope that it will be decent.
@mattcake I doubt it. Everthing in this world sucks now. Food, Cars, Music, T.v, and Video Games.
@mattcake Even in the movies, he was never truly alone. He might have started and ended that way, at least in the last two (Road Warrior, Thunderdome), but there was always someone or something else--whether it was a bunch of people, or an Australian cattle dog.
@Simplythebest12 Max looks like the dude in those Lara Croft ripoff games. They shoulda gotten Mel Gibson.
@Simplythebest12 I dont mind killing nazis but playing like one no way. Mel gibson is a joke and im glad he has nothing to do with this game.
@Upat3am "The midget is master, the giant is blaster" xD
@greenpolyp Max had companions in every film, sorry to break your bubble.
@greenpolypThere is a reason why they said they are not sticking to any particular details of any of the movies. When games follow movies to the T they tend to suck, and the reason for that is because devs often include elements from movies that ruin the gaming experience because they don't implement well into a video game. You need to realize that there is a big difference between a movie and a game so what works well in one might not in the other.
Do you have any idea how boring it could get driving around in a large barren wasteland with no interaction from the game world? Based on the description of the mechanic from this and other previews, the idea seems pretty good. Besides you have not seen how this has been implemented into the gameplay, yet you are already complaining.
The key thing here is that its mad max the GAME not mad max the MOVIE, certain elements just can't be crossed over.
@Genghis_Khan_ It's not the Interceptor, the storyline is that Max's famed Interceptor has been stolen.
@quakkeNiche users don't drive sales in the video game industry, so you'd better hope the "casual" fan is, in fact, interested. If the casual fans turn their collective noses up at the game it's not going to sell, and if it doesn't sell there won't be any support for it going forward and you won't see another. Simple as that.
@quakke I don't think people (myself included) are worried that the game was going to be casual :). I am worried that it will be just another action game that doesn't really make use of the key elements from the Mad Max films.
What they have said here, some was good and some was bad. I really don't think the game is being made for Mad Max fans, but that's expected since it's not a niche game from an indie studio or something, it's something that is supposed to sell to a large audience. I highly doubt this game would exist if not for the new movie coming next year. For the hardcore Mad Max fans, there will be plenty to complain about, even if overall it's a decent game.
@greenpolyp Vodka still good though, will help with those other things too :)
@Brakkyn Would love an Australian Cattle Dog, in the game and in real life :) I like *that* kinda company :P I don't mind other people being there for missions, sounds like this chumbucket guy is with you constantly though which would annoy me greatly :P
@Poison-tooth @greenpolyp in the first one he had that motorcycle buddy but well uhrm that didnt turn up so well :/ in part two he had many, the dog, the annoying chopper pilot, the feral kid and in three he was battling freakin Tina Turner XD cant remember that well but he had some sidekicks there as well.
@shikori_4 @greenpolyp Having an endless horde of Tribals running all over the place trying to cut your head off to use as a hood ornament. Or having to salvage dead bodies and half buried homes covered in sand trying to find anything you can trade in the numerous towns littered across the wasteland. I didnt say that no one else should be in the game, I said that he should be the only one fending for himself.Thats what the basis of Mad Max is, Survival.
@hystavito Well these devs have had a mad max game on there agenda for a while, they just needed the license to go ahead, so maybe if the movie weren't coming out Warner Brothers might have thought twice about handing over the license to avalanche.
Remember also that Warner Brothers Interactive could have done this themselves without Avalanche instead of just being responsible for publishing and promoting the game, so that says a lot about the interest on Avalanche's part. The fact that they are avoiding being creatively tied to the franchise also suggests that this isn't being done with the intention to be a Fury Road follow up. I think either way, Avalanche would have adopted the mad max concept.
@greenpolyp Yes ,but chumbucket isn't their to fend for max, he is there as a part of the gameplay. His job is to talk shit so you don't get bored, scurry around and patch shit up, tell you what parts you need, take over the wheel so you can get out and fight off the marauders while the car is in motion, etc.
Also I don't get the sense that its an endless horde of tribals, because having too many npcs around would ruin the post apocalyptic, hopeless and barren feel. I would imagine (if I know avalanche) that there would be moments where its just you, the road and the scenery. An endless horde would also ruin the pacing of the game.
Some of the side elements aren't necessarily true to the franchise, but they make the game fun to play, which is important. They seems to be sticking with the general atmosphere so I don't any issue. I am also glad they decided to use Australian Accents as that's also important to the atmosphere of mad max.
