Umm he bitc hes about you starting the game with all sorts of powers and then have them taken away....that happened in God of war too and i didnt hear anyone complaining about that...
I'd like to know what similar, "better", games the reviewer speaks of because being that MH and this are similar, I'd say this one was better. Like another posting in here said, it's less punishing than MH. Repeative attacks from enemies? When has a game not had repeative attacks, also consider you're playing this on a PSP. This isn't a PC game we're talking about with a lot of hardware behind it. A year old review, but I just played the demo and thought it might be worth the time.
don't this review Lord of Arcana is actually a awesome game and doesn't deserved a score lower then a 8 but I give it a 9
I'm mixed on the game. Admittedly, the story is non-existent, but I quite enjoyed the demo. I can't argue against any of this guy's points though. Combat was repetitive, tedium did start to set in. I can't help but feel I only enjoyed the game because of the graphics and customization. I've been debating getting it for a while now. This review reminded me that unlike other demos, I've never felt the urge to go back and try this one again. Presentation may be part of the problem, showing you how powerful you'll be in the end game only works if it's vastly different and overpowering to how you start off. When you're depowered, most of the changes are in terms of stats and cosmetics. It plays mostly the same.
@SlyVictim This is the first game in the series... and its only been out for a short time... how could somebody be so enthusiastic about this game to be considered a fanboy? @riccardo90 I really liked the game, It can be cheap in VERY few spots, but you learn the patterns and then it just comes down to skill, all of the bad reviews for this game come from inexperienced casual players... everything about dull boss fights and repetitiveness... it's nonsense... I'm sure if this was a launch title for PS2 It would have gotten rave reviews... In hindsight I'm very happy that this game is getting terrible reviews because that makes it cheaper... unlike the video review for this game... for how cheap it is now... there is no reason you shouldn't check this game out...
if you watch the video and don't listen to the comments it doesn't actually look that bad(I might be wrong)
''Obvious patterns'' and yet the guy playing in the review gets hit 3 times in a row by those goblins. That made me smile.
this game is actually good, but (and it is a big BUT), it requires a long investment time before the game pays off... you will have to wait till chapter 3 to get your first slice of reward and even then it takes until the end of chapter 4 to the start of chapter 5 before you see your next payoff in terms of new decent gear and weapons... so i believe its unfair to call this a flop but it is fair to call out that it takes its sweet time before it shows its true colors... for monster hunter enthusiasts its worth to pick up because its a good deviation from current MH formula (because of the magic and summoning and the lock on system and QTEs and that it focuses more on the action) and for those who have always found MH to be too punishing without playmates, LOA is more single player friendly than its other cousins
this guy played the game just 1 hour and made the review... of course the firsts mobs are easy and predecible so you can learn to play, even so the guy gets all the "predecible damage", the game is quite good, try it, give it a few more hours, and you'll see.
Man, I was disappointed with this game!!!! I'm a fan of Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy but this game is a bad mixture of hunting, spelling casting, summoning and sword slaying.
Mi puntuación: 7.2 I was thinking about translating my comment but i'm feeling a little lazy right now so i will do that later... (maybe) Again: i hate Fatalis)
This is a really good game, certainly 1000 times better than FFXIII. Im a little suprised to see such a low score for a new IP, still you either 'get' a game of you dont i suppose. IMHO a very enjoyable 8.5. Lots of variety in the combat with five different weapon classes, rewards using skill and timing and punishes button mashing. Lots of cool gear to make. Very tight well made game. Also free DLC quests and you can carry on your demo character.
Wow, whats with the totaly Biased Thumbs Up/Downs?? i smell a spammer :P and incase you diddnt know the Reviewer is a transgender.... He/she also reviewd Deadspace 2. I for one am thankfull for this review because now i know that this game isnt worth my time
I downloaded the demo of the game and I got bored very quickly. The combat was dull and reptitive and sucked a lot of the joy out of the game. I have to agree with the reviewer, you would have to pay me to play this game.
this review suxs! its exactly the same game as MH but the combat is a lot easier. you actually can TURN while attacking! and if what the reviewer said is true, then MH is boring, repetetive and frostreting too! Don't let this guy review any more games please!!!
Totally agree with it. The demo is a decent length and when you get to the sort of end of it you will have seen by then that all of the fights are the same thing. Triangle button 1,2 then heal. Triangle button 1,2 and heal. Triangle button 1 and oh wait quick time event. Over and over.
I'd say a 4.5 is probably a bit too low of a score. I mean the game seems to work as it was intended, and the reviewer didn't mention any major bugs or unintended flaws in the gameplay. Being repetitive is a serious problem, but I've seen a lot of repetitive RPG games get higher scores just due to the fact that they were a working game.
@stason6 Where on earth did you get this idea that video games are objectively good or bad? That's just utter nonsense, honestly. Like I just said, I really enjoy the Fable series, but a lot of people I know think it's just garbage. Are either of us wrong? Of course not, that's just our opinions. You think the game is good and should get a better score, and that's perfectly fine. But the fact remains, that the reviewer did not like the game. He clearly stated why he didn't like it, and why it received a poor score. If you're idea that reviews are just reports and don't have anything to do with opinion, then every reviewer would give the game the same score. That's why you shouldn't depend on reviews for what you should and shouldn't buy, and instead try it yourself and form your own opinion on it.
I agree with this review. I played the game and it felt like a monster hunter/final fantasy rip off. the game is not completly bad but i dont think its all that good either. The game has potential but fell short in my eyes. This is a game i wont get unless i buy it used so i dont waste the extra money. Im saving my money for better games such as God Eater Burst and Monster Hunter Freedom 3 later on down the road.
@stason6 Objectivity? There is nothing objective about entertainment. There is no such thing as a bad game or a good game, and this review is just about the reviewers opinion. You'd have to be really dense not to understand that. For instance, the Fable series. Even though a lot of people who like RPG's don't care for the games, I have tons of fun with them. Do I get angry at other people/reviewers because they think a game is bad? No, that's stupid. The review is fine. He talks about what the game does well, and what the game doesn't do well. He talks about the game mechanics and the story. What else do you want him to do? He's a professional video game reviewer. He has his job because he's good at what he does and he loves video games. If he doesn't like a video game, he's going to say why he didn't enjoy it. Of course some things that he didn't like may not bother you, that's why you're supposed to form your own opinion about a game. Have you ever seen a game that got the same scores from every reviewer? Of course not. In fact, I've never seen a game that didn't have wildly different scores from different reviewers. It's all subjective.
@Kevin-V It's not that the review was bad, it was actually done quite well, but I think what he meant was that the reviewer's voice didn't sound very manly.
Good thing we have Gamespot to alert the masses about dull games like these. Whata hell happened to Square Enix? Their games's quality shrinked frighteningly, like Mindjack, Mario Sports Mix, this one and others. The can only rely on their famous RPG, but even Final Fantasy is having some problems.
@stason6 -- So you don't like the reviewer's voice, and therefore the review is bad and shameful? I want to make sure I understand your point of view.
Another fantasy game gone sour. What developers need to realize is that games need to not be all about looks and flash, but rather have an emotional impact on the player, like 'Ocarina of Time' or 'Fate' did. Otherwise, new fantasy games are just twist offs of previous titles like 'Brotherhood of the Blade' was.
well look at it this way "if" they make Lord of Arcana 2 and "repair" these things it would be an awesome game :]
