Generaly this kind of games are released only for play stations 3 or xbox 360 but THQ knows that there are more gamers waiting on pc than consoles.
Darksiders 1 was 12 and under for me. Console suited. Full blown rooted in convoluted for the disillusioned. Over the top? Well, I guess so, but then, I'm not 12.
I can understand concern that the lore is compromised, but this is an advert and does not reflect the story, only imagery. It is a tool used to build interest in the game, and mostly players not familur to the game, they have to really make a high sale and can not rely solely on fanbase (as small as it is).
The concern I have is over the direction of the game focus rather then lore. I loved the first Darksiders game, and really want to play this series to an end. I have previously enjoyed Summoner, Red Faction, and Saints Row, all of which had the sequels changed to help increase sales (some for changes where for the better, some for the worst). Many of those changes put people off, and killed the series (Red Faction) but they also give hope to players that disliked something about the game. Improvements and fixes is good but for a sequel, but for new, you have to replace or add something, and Darksiders has done both, the improved combat, and inventory looks great, the RPG elements seem to have more meat, and the whole experience looks vastly better, I can only assume this from game-play and developer interviews, and not from any of the adverts I have seen. Darksiders2 is being altered to find new fans, and comfort the old, and I feel it is in the right direction but none of this improvement is shown in this advert. The worry I have is that in past THQ has cut non profit games , when the sales dried up they cancelled the games and abandoned its franchise and fan-base. The sales of this game are important to me, because I want this to do well, I would like to play all four , and a great big 4 co-op version on my next console. I would like to see the world more fleshed out, and expanded... This is all a dream, and a fading one at that. I think the focus they are using in these adverts is what some should been concerned about, rather then lore plot holes. The adverts is weak and does not promote the game, if I did not know anything about the series and after seeing them, I would not look up Darksiders on the internet to find out more, I would not think this game any better then the first (which most players seen as a weak GoW, or Zelda and avoid), nothing reassures me Darksiders2 is worth getting.
Has any of the Darksider 2 adverts really drawn new fans to look into this, or convinced the "Its a God of War clone." crowd that this game is worth getting, or are most of us returning simply because we are fans of the first Darksider?
@MikeLitoris Death makes his move at the same time as War does, this was said by the devs some time ago. Could be that some traces of humanity could still be around...
And who knows with the Four Horsemen they ain't bound by the rules of time.
ahem... seems like the devs didn't play darksiders 1. lol! death only arrives when you complete the game with war. and by that time, humankind has been dead for around a century... gets explained in one of the first missions
Trailer was ok...kinda wasted their money to hire an actor such as James Cosmo...because the trailer was not that epic...but I see that the one thing people noticed are the lightbulbs...
OMG , Death is calm and cool .... i want this game , I can't hardly wait when the release Date ..... yeaaaaaah :)
Love you Darksider 2
Seriously, does any of you criticising realize that this game takes place at the SAME time as the first one(in the present/modern day) The clothing is because its a post-apocalyptic theme. Come on
@klazzo U sure you don't mean Deathgasm?
@moc5 yeah, i'm not buying it that you're not 12...you're trying way too hard by using the 'big' words :P
@Styvan oh, i assumed this game started some time around where the last one stopped
darksider 2 is not even take place on earth, so i head.
@majinkamesenninit is in modern time, how epic about it.
@kratos_20_11 typical fanboy... the amount of fcks i give to that phrase is 0
@kratos_20_11 Delusional much?
nope, it takes place when Death heard War's punishment when the counical set him up, Death tries to clear War's name, so 2 is before the end of 1, sometime in between before he gets summon to earth.
