Looks to be good, but I hope the combos don't get boring afterwhile. With today's technology, each fighter should have a tons of options to attack with.
KILLER INSTINCT has returned from the dead for Xbox One but several important component may be missing Blood,Ultimate Finishers and Stage Finishers. Fans of Killer Instinct want this as it was part of what made this game special. KILLER INSTINCT without Blood, Ultimate Finishers and Stage Finishers is like Mortal Kombat without fatalities it just wouldnt work.Currently Double-Helix Commented thatNo Mercy's and Ultimate Combo's are currently not planned for the game as the they believe "they aren't necessary". This can change, however, if the fan community pushes for them to be included. They said if the public wants it they will make a effort to add it.

I think the game looks boss! ..and I dont even plan on getting a Xbone (reserved a PS4 already).
As Djbiff already stated.. I believe a lot of you have unrealistic expectations for this title and regardless of who is dev'ing/publishing it, or how it looks.. you guys were going to hate it for some reason. Most of you have to understand that A LOT has changed in the fighting game arena since KI2 was released. Games like Tekken, BlueBlaze, DOA ect.. raised the bar for what's acceptable.
Just give the damn game a chance when it comes out.. The freggin thing is FREE. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

I think all of your expectations of this are completely unrealistic. You enjoyed KI and KI2 and because of that, it became part of your upbringing. They had an art style that was very new for a fighting game and that visual appeal became locked in your heads as happy memories.
You're all holding on too tight. I loved KI and KI2 when I was a child, but this is the future. This is exactly what I expected.
This is the way all fighting games are going to look from now on. The visual style that made KI stand out is just done so we move on. I think we could all wager that if Rare had the capabilities to make each of its characters fully animated with those unique designs, it would have happened. A game like that was meant for this kind of treatment as it is the logical next step. KI was flat representations of 3D models in a 3D world. SF was 2D sprites in a 2D world. SF had a successful HD remake (or HD Remix, if you would) because a game of that style lends itself to a re-vamp of that magnitude. This one did not so you can't just make an HD version of it and call it a day. It wouldn't work in the long run. That's why games like Guilty Gear, Skullgirls, and BlazBlue work as they are. I think they would be hurt by a full-3D treatment.
One goal of every developer is to show off their 3D animation capabilities and with that comes art direction. Remember what happened with Mortal Kombat went to 3D? All of their characters started looking beefier right? Just larger and more imposing. Same with Street Fighter and apparently now with this new Killer Instinct. Jago does look like a damn ninja hulk and its okay. He got bigger from KI to KI2 so I really think its just to be expected as a trend. Sabrewulf looks hairy and toothy just like before, but at least we get to see one of my favorite characters fully animated. I'm sure there will be some sort of way to customize colors just like with all other games if that's what you're concerned about.
I see many people complaining about blood too. Personally, I don't think it should be a deal-breaker mainly because I didn't really pay much attention to it on the old KI's. It seemed like more of an afterthought to me. The way I saw it back then was "ehh, leave the blood to Mortal Kombat." KI was all about the flashing lights and explosions. The bursts of fire and rage that would occur with each hit and you knew as they got bigger, that moment of truth - the ultra combo - was approaching. Obviously, I'm speaking more of KI2, but you get the point. I'm really digging the particle effects and impacts I'm seeing here. SF4 had some pretty cool hit effects when an impact would happen...however SFxTekken took it a step further with those new sound effects, sparks, and each little bit of health grinding away from your life bar. See, that's what I like. Think of it like a Hollywood summer blockbuster. The loudest movie is going to draw the most attention. If you want crazy visual violence and explosions, you'll go watch Transformers or something. All these developers are doing is trying to create a memorable experience for each one of us.
Now the voice acting...does seem a little rough to me. I don't care if they take "-COMBO" out of every statement, personally but I think it would be fun for them to change the voice up. They could find a way to keep it dark and scary but give it a different sound. I remember the first time I heard the announcer speak on MK2. After so many years of just that old-sounding "round one...fight..." then all of a sudden, I hear "round ONE...FFFIGHT!" That, alone, got my adrenaline going. I guess we'll have to see what happens with that one.
I will agree the game-play does seem a little stunted in the mere fact that every hit seems to give you that one moment of pause before the next one. Obviously,y its a gimmick used to heighten the feel of the impact for each hit. For me, that does seem a little Capcom-ish. KI and KI2 had a fluidity to them that just worked. KI2 applied a little delay with the combo enders that definitely made the impacts feel stronger and it was in small doses and I totally enjoyed that. I'm seeing it used a wee too much here.
I just wish we could be a little more objective and realistic here. Obviously, these guys show a desire to cater to even the most demanding of fanboys, but in the end, you can't satisfy everyone. This is art and that's just they way it going to be. People are saying "well hey, they need to keep the nostalgia of the originals..." I mean, we're getting to see one of our favorite games make a comeback. That alone should quench our nostalgic thirst, right there. I think we should be excited and wait to see what these guys come up with.
However, I DO hope they bring back Orchid's amazing rack... wouldn't be KI without it.
You know what mortal kombat had better reboots more than once that was more true to what mortal kombat is and I don't even like mortal kombat.

It should be going monster combo, Killer combo, Not just saying monster and killer that is lame as hell they are ruining internet catch phrases they became catch phrases for a reason they are catchy. I'm not happy with how this is going it is not killer instinct. it might sort of play like it but nothing else is killer instinct. This is not updated like metroid prime was an update of super metroid you can still tell that game is fricking metroid 100% all the way the updates to the art was subtle and effective and the gameplay was the same in whole new ways that is a reboot.,
this game is just make some game that is sort of like killer instinct and slap the name on it, they are missing the point of what that game was. it's like a capcom game now even in the way it plays and it feels wrong.
Well Rare might be up for sell if Xbox one don't sell means cant sell many copies for killer Instinct because use own it on the super nes .
They need to bring back Ultimate combos... i remember figuring them out wen i was younger thinking i was a don. i use to play practice for hours figuring out new combos and linkers. the original killer instinct 1 was perfect! killer instinct gold was trash! bring back all the old game features with a new graphic look i say. the new look is good btw.
characters that need to stay. Jago, Fulgore, Orchid they had the best linkers. plus orchid use to get her tits out! lol
This looks okay. I'm glad the developers (not Rare, strangely) cleared up the pricing model; if I'm going to buy it, I'll buy the full game. I want the game to be bloodier and have finishers/stage finishers, though.
Also someone asked about zoning, Ki has always had zoning but what makes the game awsome is that it forces players to engage, to rushdown, zoning only looks good for streetfighter and kof style games. Tekken, Ki, DOA, Games force players to attack which is what we love.
I really would love this to work out for the best. K.I for the supernintendo was my favorite fighter game out there. Could be because I mastered every single fighter at the time, but it was really fun and addicting. The intro music was bad ass too.
I agree with some of the people's opinion on the announcer. The announcing just made it so exciting and pumped you up when you made ANY kind of combo really.
Can someone tell me if any more news has been released. First I heard F2P, then I heard full digital and F2P, but recently someone told me there is going to also be a full retail release as well on disc.
Please can someone clarify with a source. I am looking to see if there is a full retail.

Once attackers deplete an opponent's life bar, they can finish opponents with a violent "No Mercy" move, KNOCK OFF or Humiliation, which forces the opponent to dance. (Humiliations require the victor to still be on their first life bar.) Knock Off Finishers you do this by doing a knock off move like an uppercut, or a combo that hits the person up into the air (Ultras work best.)
Bring the finishing moves back new & approve we miss those!

Telling you right now if Black Orchid & Cinder are not on this game, a lot of fans won't buy this game. Please bring all these characters back & it wouldn't hurt to add different color costume and fix up Sabrewulf (looks unbeast like)
Last must have SHADOW combos! I really hope the makers are reading this comment and taking it in cause a lot of people will buy the Xbox One just for this if the changes are met

I have a feeling the game wouldn't be so horrible if it wasn't an exclusive. Why is it one again? That's smart business sense rather than making it multi-plat?
Anyway, I wish it was on PS4. Doesn't look that great, and I would wait for a price drop, but still wish I could get it on KI. I'm pretty sure in a few years it will be, and by then maybe it'll be worth my time. -shrug-

@OhSnapitz you just said 3 mediocre fight games in a row that almost never change worth crap and pump out the same crap over and over again with almost no changes and Dead or alive was the best of the bunch and it took them until doad or alive 5 to even update the look character models to the point where it was even noticeable since dead or alive 2 and almost 10 years to do it.
@Djbiff I think before you talk anymore you should know how KI and ki2 worked in the first place since the only stages that was in 3d was stages like orchids and that was only the floor plane made of a few polys. the rest are pre rendered 2d backgrounds in a FMV loop and sprtie rotation and scaling so they are not in 3d world. Also the characters are still sprites to the hardware no matter how they are drawn and so are the backgrounds.
IF you want talk KIgold then fine they did because the n64 hardware was changed so much from the ultra 64 protype and arcade machines and used bad 3d backgrounds because they save space.
Also none of the mortal kombat characters changed to the point where you can not tell who they are or had a wolf that looked like fricking wolf from darkstalkers more than he does the old games character. in fact I bet if they did not slap KI label on this game nobody would know what the hell it is and I don't even like mortal kombat and I still think they got better reboots.
Well I read all of your post. But I don't think I agree with a single damm word you wrote.
Basically, what you are telling us is simple. You will be happy if the game is called Killer Instinct. No matter how the game is far from the originals.
I agree with all you wrote. Now, my concerns is where can we tell the developers what we think about this game. They have forums?
@Sonicgod Thank you this is exactly what it said at E3 I tried the game, I mean seriously I gave it an honest try. This game is clearly a button masher i relly sucked, A Supreme let down. I mean Im nastalgic, when it comes to KI, and KI Gold. I have the Arcade cabinet with an HD TV just for KI. This game I feel is a let down, I hope that these guys really take our comments seriously because, they are treading on dangerous ground. It seems like theyre loosing touch of what make this game so special. I hope they get it together

Honestly, the games looks weak, the graphics are not appealing to me, and it seems to have too much emphasis on combos.
Combo after combo isn't what made KI good!
It was the game balance, the unique characters, the finishing moves, being able to link high hit combo with Ultras and throwing opponents off building with them.
I love Killer Instinct since it was unlike any other fighting game at its time. It wasn't about pure gore, it wasn't about smashing buttons, it was like a dance where two opponents are constantly trying to kill each other; truly a fighting game like any other I have ever played.
@TheBlackSpeed I find it quite sad that your perception of the quality of the game is determined by whether it is exclusive or not... This is obvious fanboyism at it's finest. I fail to see how the amount of consoles it's released on effects the hard work these guys put into their game. Shame on you, how can you call yourself a gamer? I for one wish it was on the PS4 as well considering I'll be picking that up first, but I'll defiantly invest my money into this when I get my Xbox One.

Video games have to evolve. Its about acknowledging the trends that come along with that. My point was that people are getting way too bent out of shape over a preview. The reason for that is that we have no control over what gets presented to us because we're not part of that creative process. These people are holding a cherished thing for many of us in their hands and that makes us tense. They said they're taking concerns into consideration so I hope that works to their benefit. When the game gets released, I could be completely disappointed but I'm going to wait to play it before I make that judgement, like I feel we all should.
@Badw0lf1993 @TheBlackSpeed I call myself a gamer because I play games. That's a moot point. And my opinion of this game isn't because it's an exclusive. I simply said I have a feeling. Something tells me if it was, let's say for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, it'd be a little different. Simply an opinion of what I've seen in the past, not saying that is the definite reason for why this game looks low in terms of quality. And it seems I'm not the only one saying so, regardless of everyone else's reasoning for that assessment. It's sad you have to "invest money into this" when it's supposed to be a "free" game.
