The sexual partner stuff wasn't necessary. It's a tech demo, not a movie. Ironically, the (terrible) movie iRobot skipped over that stuff. COME ON. SEXUAL PARTNERS. WE WOULD NEVER NEED WOMEN AGAIN. Amirite?
Please read my blog in which I discuss Kara and Quantic Dream...
As embarrassing as this is to admit, I was in tears after watching this demo. It's all just so beautiful and makes me proud to be a gamer.
@Xwolfcampopper @deshazerg Ye you're both right, I guess in this case either the AI has been programmed to respond with a certain phrase when told to say something in a different language or probably more likely "seeing as this is the ground work for a game premise" it is probably signs of an ability to learn or think for itself, whether inbuilt or not.
@TommyT456 What she would respond to that question depends entirely on what the programmers decided she should say. As long as the software recognized the command it would respond with whatever phrase or phrases the software was programmed to do. I thought this was really cool. The unrealistic part of this is the idea that the computer would do something other than what it was programmed to do, like be self aware or have a desire to live and call it that. Computers are cool and fast, but as a programmer myself, I can tell you they are not intelligent. They do exactly, and I mean exactly what you tell them, no more and no less.
@TommyT456 Well, what you're talking about is modern AI that you probably have some knowledge about. No information is given in this video about what type of AI this is or how advanced it is, so who are you to say that it's unrealistic? It's a fantasy situation o.o
The command "say something in German" would prompt an AI to either say the word "something" in German, or to ask what it was the guy would like her to say. Not very realistic response imo
Of course this is the next game , Quantic dreams did this before . Also , it says not from any software "currently" in progress , meaning if the project starts a day later its still true . And finally , with the next gen consoles in horizon , there's no point in showing the power of the PS3 at this late stage . I wasn't as impressed as I was with the heavy rain tech demo , I loved that , but still . Also as the scene is small , I don't think it has done a big job , we have lots of shaders and lighting mostly which the console can handle , the polygon count on the whole scene won't be too high . Anyways can't wait for the game . Loved both farenheit and heavy rain . Now only if they did a remake of Omikron which I never Played . Sorry for the long post . ( And by the way , this is a very good way of creating anticipation instead of a FMV)
As fantastic as the graphics are, the real clincher was the 5-minute story they told here. It grips you quickly and makes you want to see what happens. That actress is fantastic, and I want to see this level of acting and storytelling in future video games.
I loved the video. It leaves you wanting more.... a lot more. When the climax of this short hits, you genuinely feel sorry for this her and that one key part adds the aspect of human-like emotion to her. I cant wait to see what they do with this.
this is just great ! all of this and "not in a progress game" !! you should do it guys :) The disaster is that this video is running on the PS3 in real time! what a nice game that it will be if it is done :)
As cool as this looks and the high hopes that the gameplay will be deeply satisfying, i think this kind of story is really overdone when it comes to android/robot scifi stories. I mean there's A.I., Bicentennial Man, and I, Robot, who all use a robot/android, that have the want to feel human. there are probably several tv shows with episodes like this story as well. I'm not saying it is necessarily a bad thing, it just can be cliched and overdone quite a bit. I just hope the overall story will make up for it
Neat, but it seems a bit odd to do all this just to demonstrate that they can achieve decent visuals.
@TommyT456 It's not an AI, from what I saw atleast.
@TommyT456 just to let you know for german and french all she did was repeat what she said in english, in case you didn't know.
