of course the campaign will be linear. What'd you expect out of a first person shooter? COD, Battlefield, Rainbox 6, etc. are all about the multiplayer, so to get your panties in a bunch over the linear format of the campaign seems silly. You play the campaign for maybe 7 hours and the MP for hundreds, which is more important to you?

Well yes because this is basically just Betafield 4 DLC.

Letting players sometimes choose to be sneaky or not sneaky doesn't qualify as nonlinear.  Also, some pseudo-cause/effect choice significance like in the Black Ops campaign doesn't qualify as nonlinear.

I think there needs to be more innovations in Battlefield, I mean - same old PvP multiplayer, the mandatory courtesy campaign and some really tired story telling. They need to move with the times and create something a little more interesting and engaging. BF4 is just an ugly mess, all they've done is gone with the idea that adding more guns, more attachments, more equipment and more camo somehow makes the game better. Also for a game with that many players they really need to increase the damage of all the weapons, you've got 64 players running around with Nerf guns which feels extremely frustrating and annoying and not at all fun. Just play Battlefield 4 after playing Titanfall, you'll know what I mean. The netcodes and hit damage is abysmal. I feel like they've just pandered to the whinging fans to the point of nerfing the whole game, not to mention the rubberbanding and everything else wrong with it.

BF4 was linear? But what about those times I could kinda move left and right while shooting?

the take downs are so corny... the way the character does the take down seems like it wouldn't really even hurt... it just makes the cop look like a jerk, because he already has his hands up and is not defending him self, its like a sucker punch, except worse... like do you think your tough smashing a guys face in to the ground that is not even defending him self, and is just patently waiting for you to put on the hand cuffs?

So, I just watched some of the gameplay on YouTube, and it looks a bit like Far Cry 3, but not terrible as I would have expected. I just wonder how it's going to be since it seems it's being overshadowed by the multiplayer aspect, or at least I haven't seen or heard anything on it until now. I want to know the structure of it, from how well the story is to different locations you go to.

I didn't even know this game had a campaign until my brother told me earlier; when he played the beta (or whatever it was) earlier around E3, I had assumed it was only a multiplayer game as was shown. Well, this is interesting.

Moving from one "open" space to another doesn't qualify a game as linear? Might not be a corridor shooter but seems linear to me. 


Does it have branching storylines?

my whole problem with this game is that this isn't about cops vs criminals, it just has a cop skin. if you changed the textures to not represent the police aspect of the game, you wouldn't be able to tell it from another battlefield game.

like all new bf games, all i could see was crazy sun, flashy lights and lensflares. most annoying crap i seen in games this last years.

@pezzott1 Most likely they will add pseudo-branches like in the Black Ops campaign.  You press L2 to kill one guy and R2 to kill another, whoever lives will later fulfill the exact same role in the next mission, stuff like that.

@pezzott1 Having the choice to play the game how you want to play it makes it not linear. Also, I hate branching storylines because I always feel like I'm missing something and it in no way makes me feel like I'm in control. I'd rather have one good consistent story than three half-assed ones.

@BrunoBRS And you base this on? the countless hours you have played the full game? Also you clearly haven't played the beta mp , because compared to BF4 its a much more polished and fluid experience.


But in the end what did people expect? its a yearly franchise.

So literally every game ever is nonlinear.

You might want to tweak your definition.  This is a linear experience.

@Jacanuk @BrunoBRS i don't know, something about each team's killcount getting in the hundreds, the access to military grade explosive weaponry, the freaking explosions everywhere.


it's just battlefield. sure, maybe it's polished, but it's battlefield.

@Jacanuk @BrunoBRS really...the beta was the same mp as any BF games and also you can use you parachute anytime...wow really...so yeah it's the same thing! but anyways, they are working on some stuff and changing things from players feedback so will see
