Nintendo have always delivered good platformers.

It's either

"Ohh, Nintendo is so creative and original! They do things different unlike other developers"

or...

"Ohhh, Nintendo is so awesome and retro, I love the nostalgia of playing another Mario game. They should keep making these franchises over and over forever!"

Wow...Nintendo did a 2D side scroller for their new system. All that hardware power and they don't make a 3D platformer....brilliant!!!!

@TheIfym20 There working on 3D platform as we speak, it's just that 2D Mario games appeal to nearly everyone.

@TheIfym20 Yeah, I would totally rather have them make a game that's half cut scenes and me just pressing a button every 20 seconds or so. That seems to be what's in right now.

@TheIfym20 you know that nintendo is all about classic games. and you know that people love nintendo for keeping some originalities after so many years right? And you know that 2d games were the origins and many people like em right? And a super mario remake in 2d is what people will love right?

@lantonis I agree with you, but I'm sure most people, me included, were kinda hoping to see a familiar franchise actually taking advantage of the horsepower this unit has.

@lantonis I love nintendo and a 2D game is fine, however this is their first HD system. Make something that is going to blow people's minds and make this system a must have.

@lantonis Still they should have made a 3D mario since we are all ready getting a mario bros for 3DS.

@lantonis It never stops to amaze me that people still feel that graphics are *that* important.

@lantonis  @TheIfym20 New Super Mario Bros. Wii came out in 2009, so no, not long ago at all. Before that game, yes, there was an 18 year drought (if you count Yoshi's Island, then 14).

I'm pretty underwhelmed by what I've seen of this game so far. I absolutely love the franchise, and I'm sure that the level design will be as tight as usual, but I wish they would switch up the art style. Better graphical capabilities used to ensure that new iterations would have their own unique style, but now that graphics have gotten to the point where Nintendo can make a Mario game look however they want, the art style has totally stagnated.

@TheIfym20  they will make a super mario galaxy eventually, but it wont be new, just new features. New 2d mario on a console its been a while if am not mistaken
