@targetlkd I agree. I bet if this game is successful, all other developers in the FPS genre are gonna hop on the bandwagon. It's the same for all forms of entertainment though. Mainstream originality died in the 90's.
Im looking forward to it, I choose to view it as a progression from the MW2 and World in conflict scenario, we've seen it in FPS and RTS from a soldiers perspective, why not a more in-depth "Partisan/resistance" scenario for a combative FPS. Its also I suppose thematically a little like HL2?? FPS games will never go away, I cant complain about the format, yes it will limit the gameplay and experience, but arent we restricted to a first person perspective throughout our lives!?!?! I will always favour FPS games as they are more immersive and I dont have to force myself to empathise with an avatar who is built and fashioned like a brick wall preventing me from identifying with it or stepping into its shoes ala Marcus Pheonix. The point of an FPS is that its a more personal experience, thats you with the gun and gaming is all about excapsim. I dont understand constant complaining about the format, if you dont like it you should probably consider buying a wii or doing something other than gaming, entertainment naturally seperates into genre period, no one will find emersion or refine development if its a different style of gameplay every game or a new format everytime time, we are limited by perspective as a species, what we create cannot escape that. Bam right there at the end HL influence!
So what else is new..having evolved from COD4, MW2, BBC, and MOH? It's all the same gameplay. The only thing different are the characters and location.
Nice concept, and it's nice to see someone trying to do something a bit different in terms of multiplayer. As said in interview, there's an overdose of similar offerings in this genre (CoD, Battlefield, MoH, etc) as far as multiplayer mechanics go, and while great games in their own right, there's just not time to invest in them all (multiplayer "career").
AI looks typical in this type of game. Which means very dumb. But I do want to play it for the story. Love alt history and what people come up with.
These developers are gonna be assassinated by North Korean assassins soon lol, but game looks good i gotta say, definately on the lookout for this game.
The AI looks really "smart" but I like the idea of the story, it is refreshing to see something new.
If you could ever mix call of duty with fallout and make it a more modern and "realistic" storyline, this would be it. We'll see how it continues to look up until release. So far so good!
Dedicated servers, local to region, multiplayer and a rock solid looking single player, what could go wrong? Hopefully not the AI as that seems to be a place that most fps dev's leave til last. If not, i think it'll be a cracking game. Looking forward to this one. Reckon the spec's will be pretty high tho.
a new era? i remember recently wanting military fps games set in Afghanistan and there is now a flood of them on the market and seeing this game that looks sweet -set in some (or all) USA locations.... recently ive been wanting something fresh, like fighting off an invasion or invading america. so in the next two years fps games locations will be set in america i bet.
I've really high hopes for this game, but I'd really prefer if they weren't trying to pass the story as something "oh, it's so realistic", cause it's not. North and South Korea can't stand each other and the Japanese would propably rather die than join NK... But hey, at least it's not the Russians... again.
And I dont think I will compare this to Killzone or similar games. Killzone is a very fast paced game, it lacks story and $hit. I know who cares for story when bullets are flyign around and game doesnt even gives u time to think about story but i think its not bad to play a game once a while with story and some meaning to it with a balance to action and story telling.
This game actually seems the kind of games I like, Good story in addition to some good action. I will possibly be picking it pretty early when it comes out.
@Pawfalcon Sorry, I was out of it when I posted that. Well, I just hope they do. There are WAY too many shooters and I would love to play as a civilian in a realistic, real-life environment for a change.
@Baraq agreed, war is a visceral act, its not pretty and should be rough and gritty, for me the destructable environment on battlefield are great, and blowing limbs off in cod waw was soooo satisfying, add those kind of elements into a great sounding story like homefront seems to be promising, then we would have one hell of a fps
Love the sound of this but 2011 will be all about KZ3 and the next great Resistance instalment for me! But I love the sound of the story and how they are tackling it! No tunnle vision?? good! I felt like a Horse with the blinkers on playin MW2 single player!
very excited for this game :) the story looks super interesting and the graphics and gameplay look pretty good...keep it up THQ
one more thing id like to add... I want to blow sh*t up! buildings should crumble! I want to see the bodies of dead (whom iv killed and likewise) scattered across the battlefield. II want to see arms and heads blown off when I toss a well placed grenade into a group of enemies. Is that so much to ask for? I dont see this game doing any of that. The bodies of dead disappear, non-destructive environments... Oh but it has a good story. This game is same old same old same old same old same f'ing old.
looks way to run and gun for me... I cant stand games where you can run into a group of enemies and take out 6 guys. Let me guess your health refreshes when you take cover? Can we think of something new for combat people. I am so bored with everything playing like halo. Yeah it has a cool story, thats not enough to keep me interested.
March 2011 ... good choice. This game looks really good but with Call Of Duty: Black Ops, BFBC2: veitnam, Killzone 3 and soon Battlefield 3, it would not stand a chance. It really would not and i aint being a fanboy, they make games to make money and they would not make that much money if they where to be out shined by some really good titles, and March 2011 is too close to Feb 22 when Killzone 3 is coming out but it will still catch the attenton of some Xbox and PC gamers, PS3 gamers will be busy with Killzone 3.
I think trhere is a problem with the AI in this game ... hope THQ doesn't f**k this game up like what they did with WWE SvR 20011
How badass would it be if they had expansion packs (DLC) for each large city in the US with actual locations (ie buidings, streets, etc) so we can fight in our own hometowns??
