I bought this game on the day it was released and i'm still enjoying the game. The game won't be for everyone but it's worth buying to see if you would like it since it's very cheap now. It is one of my favourite games to date. Like Shenmue, Heavy Rain was definitely ahead of it's time and the graphics still hold up, in fact it looks even better on the new smart tv's than it did on the earlier 07 HD tvs because of all the extra processing features they come with.
To all those that think it's just an interactive movie and not a game they couldn't be any further from the truth. The game gives you more control than most games and it can be quite challenging in some places since it requires skill and mastery over the controls which is more of a convention of mainstream video games than point and click/interactive movies. You can do things you need to do and things you want to do just for the fun of it to add immersion, like in Shenmue where you could open draws and buy cans of soda, in Heavy rain you can drink coffee, use the toilet and bathe. Fans of Sims would appreciate the extra attention to detail.
What I like about the game the most is the freedom it gives you to make meaningful choices. Three years on and there is still so much more for me to see and endings I want try and get.
best storytelling game this generation maybe 2 past generations
making games like mass effect story looking pathetic
So... do you just basically watch a movie and press buttons at specific times or do you actually control a character and explore the city like a sandbox game? Also, I watched the ending and I think it's sad that Ethan commits suicide... that's messed up right there :/

I love games that allow you to make moral choices like in real life and story ties you in completely.
Hmm... I guess its difficult to review such games, but GS gives way too much away for someone who hasn't played the game. For e.g. they say "you take control of 4 *seemingly* unrelated chars"... C'mon what does this tell you now?
I really cannot believe this game got a measly 8.5. I am now playing it, and all I can say is WoW. Up to now, where im up to, though i have not finished it, i will give it a 9.7. And that is because i have not finished the game yet. I often wonder with these types of reviews if they are so off because of the sO much rating games these people have to do, that it just gets old for them sometimes. This is one truly AWESOME game, but it is for those with a refined palate of gaming. Not for the button-mashing-whore. Nevertheless, it brings an AWESOME game, a new way to play, an AWESOME story line. Just like a movie..only you make the decisions.
wow. even the dang video review was engaging and totally sucked me into what he had to say! good job lark anderson! they need to have more of him :D
dantefenix-"its totally worth the cash" well i'm getting it from ebay for £3 so even if it's sh!te it'll be worth the money lol
@zo70 You probally don't even have a PS3 I mean there are so many good games that are only on PS3 Little Big Planet, Uncharted, Kill Zone,Ratchet and Clank, etc.... what the do you know!
WTH??? just 8.5??? this is BullCRAP!!!! wbhile 8.5 is a great score at the same time it is a BAD score for heavy rain!!!!
I think people have been replaying the game more since the release of Telltale's The walking dead because people have been comparing them in forums since they have that make your own story style of play.
@kayability Same makers dude :)
@dawnofhero There are actually around 13 endings to the game.
@dawnofhero Post a spoiler alert...are you dense? It's a review, the majority of people haven't played it.
@dawnofhero You control the characters directly and get to explore the environments available and also through very direct "quick time" like events. The endings change depending on the choices you've made and if you have managed to keep certain character alive.
@alpha_unit97 Quite the opposite.
@Bl33pBlop Hey, relax Mr. Blop. I get some people haven't played this game yet.
