Games way to arcady. Ill stick to MWO. At least ill have to think a little. No ammo really. Pick up other peoples parts in game. C'mon. Step it up.
The camera needs some serious tweeking. Talk about jittery! Had to stop the vid. And i'm one that doesn't get motion sick from fp perspectives! Other than that, presentation looks slick.
I have to say, I'd lost hope with any new mech game coming out. Front Mission Evolved was definitely sub-par and the new Mech Warrior Online looked "ok" to me in my opinion. However, this game looks fantastic so far with the combat, customization and overall feel. To put it simply, my prayers have been answered for a new mech shooter. I truly hope this game will be amazing, can't wait to play it for myself and find out.
If you want some mech action in the mechwarrior universe, check the crysis mod: Mechwarrior Living Legends.
Hawken looks awesome, but more focussed on speed thus a more quake like experience (nothing wrong with that)
This is one reason to make me feel bad for having only consoles! I'm not sure if my laptop can run this game.... too bad.
For me personally, what will determine which game is better between MWO and Hawken will be the number of weapons/upgrades/customization available to us. Mechwarrior has always been pretty weak in that area when you compare it to something like Armored Core which has literally hundreds of parts, each one unique & designed from scratch. AC-5, for instance, had around 300 parts. The last MW game had around a couple dozen, just to give you an idea. Lets see how many Hawken gives us...
Ignore the haters, this looks stellar. Not a fan of Mech Warrior where you have to look left and right repeatedly to move forward ::eyeroll::
ill give it a try but it dosn't look like my kind of game, really have high hopes for mechwarrior online though
meh... its just a fast paced action game like every other first person shooter, but instead of characters, they are mechs. I have higher hopes for Mechwarrior Online thats coming out this Summer:)
It's very tiring to watch somebody play this. It's just too much going on. I think the only way to enjoy this if it runs at 60 fps and you play it yourself. I also hope you can somehow turn off the shake effect when you walk with your mech.
for me, this is one of the best looking mech game to the date. bu they wasted its potential with multiplayer-only-free-to-play concept. it would be fantastic if there was a single player scenerio.
I think mechwarrior online looks better than this I aint a fan of fast moving mechs it looks like it plays more liek an fps..
but i guess some people like that.. so we have MWO for us people who liek the slower paced mech combat and this for the arcade fps fans... awesome news :)
M$ should bring back mechassault , the 360 needs more exclusives and more entries in this genre feel like a breath of fresh air. This game definitely stands out since its not in any established mech franchise and it looks promising , looking forward to more.
hey, how about this: ship to ship combat. each team's got a battleship and both battleships are shooting each other and the players. so the players must use special "flying" gear to get from their ship to the enemy's ship OR get special "long distance assault" guns to fire to the enemy ship (and mechs) from their own ship.
I wish the cockpit took viable damage when you were dying like cracks in the windshield or just something small like that.
between this and Mechwarrior online, looks like we may be looking at the much needed revival of mech games
@Gelugon_baat Totally agree man!!
@gino_pachino art design -yes. Graphics -no.
killzone 2 graphics are heavily filter and blurred that i cant really tell what is the floor and the wall. killzone 3 remove those filters and the game looks rather ugly.
@dalua360 It'll make you build a quad core beast, like it did for me :) I grew up on PC gaming, couldn't afford it in college and settled for consoles, then post-college said F-it and built a quad core gaming beast that is so far unparalleled for about a grand. Nice mid-level gaming rig. You can dooo eeeet! Newegg is your friend.
Lol, same here :( This game actually looks pretty exciting, though I don't have the money to buy another computer so it can handle this game. I definitely feel the respect for the PC users though; good for them to get a neat-looking mech title like this!
You talk about the customization systems as if they work the same way and as if they apply the same way to similar game play. Hawken, MW, and AC are very different mech games and as such the customization systems shouldn't just be a "parts number" race in comparison.
These are games you should be playing because you like the play style, not the gear count.
@Trickymaster and then with that completely throwing away the immersion and realism being in a big mechanical robot moving
@Caldrin- And for us people who would play both. I love mechs, there are too few good mech games being made so I'll take everything they give me.
What you're saying kinda goes without saying. However, it's a mech game, and gear count is hugely important. Even the developer himself talks about it. But hey, if you like mech games without doing much tinkering, good on you. I need the gameplay AND the goodies, not one or the other.
@wezkilla Don't you think a mech robot would have a bus driver seat that catches all the heavy movement?
@wezkilla i had a bad feeling for hawken with its F2P marketing plan. The last F2P SuperMNC was a dissapointment, all though i must admit uberent did a good F2P pricing method saidly the final product was a mix bag.
