@faisaltm nah but but if you played the first you can get exclusive perks, like armor, titles, or other stuff. not really necessary but its pretty cool to give new people a leg up
@leepialong he didn't say it sucked. His point was that GS doesn't score games fairly. I don't agree but it's gonna be really sad if SMB does score more than Guild Wars 2
@terminus, u siad it sux? can you especially explain it? i play a ton of mmos; this is so far the best water combat i ever lay my eyes on. one other thing why u compare this with SMB? they are two completely different genre. sound like u a noob in mmo world. u nothing but trolling
Gamescom and PAX Prime is coming up soon! Subscribe to youtube.com/GuildWars2Live to watch all their upcoming videos from those tradeshows.
Super Meat-boy is so much better then this rubbish.......... ..........but seriously, I bet GS scores crap like SMB higher then this.........watch!
Looks really nice. I love the fact that there wont be any subscriptions but if it has online only in cities like this first game than no thanks.
probably it will be posted at GS later but till then check it out first at the GW2 official site: Ascalon's Catacombs Cinematic: http://www.arena.net/blog/dungeon-cinematics
@Slagar So you're saying it doesn't look realistic enough to be considered a fantasy game... That's like saying a dog that doesn't meow can't really be considered a dog.
@slagar u dont know what u're talking about, havent u watched the video and why do u need an explanation for an aqua breather or do u prefer it to be like wow just go underwater and shoot the same spells and constanly watching ur timer so u wont die in 3 min,for me this is an awesome ideea diferent spells underwater and unlimited breathing and if u're still not convinced about the whole ideea u can check arenanet's blog ,they explain the whole concept there
This and TERA are changing MMOs as we know them, for the better. Just looking at the gameplay it seems even more immersing than most action adventure games. The NPCs are actual enemies in their own right, the fact that they can adapt to environment changes is something i have never seen before in an open world game. Love the action combat and the design of the world itself, the creativity just blows my mind. And for the few comments i've read that said the fact that breathing uderwater has been removed is stupid, its still there. If you would just open your mind and ears he said there is an equip item called a breathing apparatus. And even if they did remove breathing who gives a crap, its a fantasy world not an effing real-world simulation.
The game looks good... but I don't know, the animations seem a little clunky... hopefully the controls are polished and smooth though, won't know till I actually have the game in my hands :D
obviously the guy below didn't play guild wars 1....the red/yellow/green glowing borders were only around the bosses you could steal elite skills from....unlike WoW where u are spoonfed everything...you actually have to OBTAIN your skills buy killing a boss however in guild wars 2, it seems that the red aura is only there to tell you what ur attacking...since when he had 4 or 5 drakes on him it was a total &*$#storm...id lose track of which one i was attacking too
I don't want crazy red/yellow/green glowing borders on everything in the game world. The animations look glitchy and too free-flowing - people can't move that fast underwater, turn 50 different directions in a micro-second, or hold their breath indefinitely. The game doesn't even explain these "features" just that the developers "thought holding your breath was dumb". It's no longer a fantasy, it just doesn't make sense. I should feel like I'm almost a totally different person immersed in a totally different world - instead I feel like I'm playing a videogame. No sale.
WoW has the largest player base in a MMO. The main reason other people don't want to even try other MMOs is the fact that they'd have to be paying monthly for two games. Seeing as this game has no monthly fee I feel that is what gives it a good chance of being successful. It also means I'm capable of playing this and Old Republic without eating my wallet too much!
ckabeh- Everyone's gaming experience is different, The fact that you live in a third world country means absolutely nothing. I live in NYC and my game had lag end of story. Why is sharing my GW1 experience a lie. I merely stated what my personal experience was.
Fandango, what do you mean by more "relevant things"? There wasn't anything that was irrelevant concerning this demo, this demo displayed underwater combat, which is what it was intended to do. Weapons swapping was relevant to the demo as well. As far as showing off the visual aspects, like "bubbles" as you pointed out, I felt that too was relevant given that A. It allows ArenaNet to show off their engine and B. it was relevant concerning the underwater demo in the sense of visual ques. They're proud of the engine that they've created and they should be. Should they not? One thing we can agree on is that, yes, this game does look awesome, indeed!
I feel like this 20 minutes demo could have been resumed in two or three. I wish they'd show more relevant things than bubble effects and ''underwater weapon swapping''. Still, the game looks awesome.
@GyroGate Actually they've said numerous times that while there are some microtransactions, they are all purely cosmetic and provide no advantage at all. Same with GW1, they had microtransactions but it was primarily just costumes to make you look cooler and had no impact on your stats.
Game seems to still have the farming aspect many MMO's still clinge too, its a perception but this stagnating mechanic should go, or at least be limited to the max.
@ RomanKingNYC - laggy? why do you spread disinformation. I am living in third world country and i never have any lags on GW 1, and i have been playing in over 50 months...so stop talking lies...
I always wanted to try guild wars one. as an ex wow player im always looking for something similar that i can enjoy but with 1 it always seemed like i was too late to the party
Although I'm very excited about GW2, concerns arise about server lag. GW1 was very laggy and everyone in the mother will be getting this. I love that it's free, but I would gladly pay extra for stability. Time will tell.
@Danituga Yeah, I looked it up on their wiki site, and it's free :D I feel your pain, man. Maybe you could wish a computer for your birthday ;)
Chewin3 i think it is free :) The game looks nice, i like very much mmorpg but my computer doesn't allow me :'(
Underwater combat looks better than I imagined....breathing apparatus, excellent idea! Who wants to be wasting time having to keep swimming up for air anyway! And weapon changes is for choice and flexibility! My mouth fell open when he said there are underwater cities and races...o.o...can't wait to get to explore. This game CANNOT come out fast enough! Hurry up ArenaNet, love ya'll.
Using different weapons and fighting styles underwater makes sense to me. Games looking pretty awesome. I'm quite excited.
