I actually believe what they say in the Manifest. Especially the part about if you hate mmo's you'll really want to check out Guild Wars 2. I can't wait but I will since I'd rather have polish than say a normal MMO launch. @pinkweasels, you also get pets both for ranger and cosmetic and you get titles as well. Don't down play it.
x_Fable_x - Guild Wars 2 will be a complete new game. It's not an expansion. The only bonus you get from playing GW 1 (Eye of the North) is getting bonus items unlocked for GW2
@Lash540 OK, first off, learn that "sidekick" isn't a verb. Then, once you have done that, go and create this amazing MMO role-playing game that has no levels, nothing to achieve, nothing to strive towards and new content every day, so no event is ever repeated, forever. Then when you have it done let us all know so we can go to the store buy a copy and try it out. Thanks
getting inpatient here, I know what they say about rushing an artist (or a whole team of them) but MK, the witcher 2, BF3, ME3, those are some solid tittles and it looks like they will make it before GW2, am not rich and am not afraid of making tough calls whatever the end result. though more frequent updates will definitely help with the wait ;D
@BrunoBRS - I know about the sidekick system as a matter of fact this system isn't new in any aspect, it has been tried in many other MMO's the only problem I have with it is if you are sidekicked the devs always put neg effects on the person being sidekicked. ie, you need to stay nearby your person sidekicking you. They can unsidekick you whenever they please and get you killed, you don't have the abilities that go with the level of play your are trying to play in so instead of having that levels chain of spells you have some really low and almost always ineffective amount of options in combat and thus can't really participate in anything at that level... Why? BECAUSE YOUR NOT THAT LEVEL YOUR JUST SIDEKICKED. Fail. Thats why I say do away with levels. A person just starting the game should have the ability to do everything that game has to offer not have to work his way through boring tedious leveling plus it would put everyone on a LEVEL playing field so instead of some guy beating me in PVP because of he's 2 - 3 levels higher and has some AWESOME ULTIMATE POWERFUL spell that you get in those 2 - 3 levels, he would actually beat me because he used better combat tactics. He beat me because he was smarter not higher level.
Lots of hype but it seems interesting! I enjoyed Guild Wars, even if it was mostly for the pretty scenery. Can't wait until this comes out!
That's good to see a game being polished with love I don't care about games made for profits only... Nice job so far! There's a chance of fail but they are trying to make this game original with new features and playability... even if they fail which I think is not going to happen, this worth a try! @E1mil Agreed!! people always complain too much! they will change the gameplay style so idiots, start complaining! lol and not even try to adapt to changes!...
@NightLike Some will complain even if it's a perfect game. People are idiots, there no way around it. Always rember: ''Hope is the first step on the road to Disappointment.'' Never hold any hope about anything, because this hope can be shatterd. And if you never hope, there can be no Dissapointment. I, for one, hold no hope, at least not for the human race.
Well, it's free to play (but not free to buy, mind you) so Im gonna play. But it better be good. OR ELSE!!
man I wish they release more information on the asurans and their mechanics, in 03:28 you see the asuran jumping out of the golem, is that how the asura r going to play? compensate for their inferior physic by driving the golems? are all the asuran playing like that regardless of their class?
just a off comment here, while I was at PAX I did watch alot of the SW TOR gameplay. Did not wait the 6 hours in line to play. But the group event I saw looked good, cant say how the game play was..but I am sure it will have a good draw, a good fun game is a good fun game and it will draw many to it for the story and just being Star Wars. I might try both...but feel GW2 will be what I like more. I like where the world is one continuous entitiy vs zoning/loading into each area.
This just got me super hyped in guild wars 2. I'm not a big fan of mmorpg usually stop playing after the 20th hour. But this has alot of radical idea's that look to change everything I dislike about the genre and create an absolutely amazing online experience hope it comes out this year.
Thanks for info disneyrich2001 ;) Yeah I've seen that video, one is without and one is with commentary (guy from Germany speaks at the beginning). It was excellent. I guess I still had doubts about how will it all work, and how much will it all be happening in persistent world because first one was heavily instanced. :) About the gear, I've seen that they are paying attention to design (some glow in the dark, some are made from ice and shatter and stuff like that), but I'll be looking for more info on this aspect of the game. Anyway, looking forward to this game.
@rissbo there are some good videos on youtube with good info, one is 53 mins long, look up Guild wars 2 GDC. Everything is a public event! You see things happening and go help or do what is needed, or not. Also go to the Arenanet blog , LOTS of good information there. Gear is looking to be good, and the dye system looks like you can really have your own personal look , along with many ways to customize your gear. All the dynamic events are in the persistant world. From what I know, the only things that are instanced are the dungeons, for your Personal Story and then again when you re play them( they all have matching gear sets from what I heard) with the branching paths and different content each time you play the dungeon. Your "home instance' is also instanced. Instead of a Mog House or home, you have a whole neighborhoood that is instanced and changes to reflect the choices you make in your story line. So 2 humes , who have different answers in the bio will have 2 different home instances. The dragon Shatterer fight is a group/world event that anyone and everyone can fight. That is not even a raid boss. He is a "leutenant' and not even one of the elder dragons! So its looking to be very event filled and a good game. Playing the demo at PAX they said the event system was tweaked UP so everyone playing would stumble upon and try the same fights in the areas there were open. In the actual game, they will not run as fast. Hope that helps
I'm interested in couple of things. Gear wise, is it gonna be more in this one (in first one it wasn't all that important and you get last tier rather fast, if i remember it correctly)? Because I need that 'carrot on a stick' model to continue playing mmo for a longer period. And about those dynamic events, will they be instanced or something like rifts in Rift game? So basically, if you have plenty people in area, can they all participate? From videos I have seen, it looks pretty much like it, but I'm curious about those bigger events, like fighting a dragon or something similar. Long story short, do they work in an open world?... If anyone can enlighten me ...appreciate it
@maddv1lla1n I totally agree, no company can make something for everyone... they want to make something new , break from the mold and in that , make it fun and different and bring new and old people to the fold! Again after talking to them, and seeing how they are not rushing it, taking ideas and working on them, changing and fixing things, and really taking peoples likes/dislikes after these demos. I will say I had high hopes for ffxiv, it 'looked' nice but sadly it came out so bad. ANet is out there having real players playing and taking feedback and just being out there showing what they are doing is good business sense and good PR also. I dont care what others dont like about it... just will keep the 'bad' people out and good fun ones that like a true er community feel! :)
That's several times now that i saw an Asuran jump out of a mech suit... anyone else thinks that could be part of their arsenal? plus i think i heard a leprechaun. Nerds all up in the audience and the way the gw team guy 2nd to the left answers them is hilarious plus you can see it in his expression that he's had enough.
@ disneyrich2001 Just let people like Lash540 troll and bash gw2 before it comes out , because he/she will most likely end up buying it when its finally here, people like Lash540 complain about things that have been done before and dont understand the economics of video games, No one developer can make a game to satisfy everyone everyone will like Gw2 for his or her on reasons , they even said in another interview they have to make the game what they envisioned it to be because if they were to build it on what 100 people wanted they would have to use 95 different ideas , i cant begin to explain how high my expectations for a "good" mmo are but i know that will never happen ,but there are standards that are set and so far Arenanet is doing an EF-ing good job at building a great mmo , all we can do now "and by we i mean the people who are faithfully behind arena-net as they are to us " is wait till its here and be the judges ourselves !
@Viiper : I don't really know what you mean by 'hipster' but i'll take it as a compliment, thankyou :)
Blizzard has absolutely nothing to worry about. That's like saying Activision and CoD should be worried when a new shooter comes out. People play what is popular. WoW has one of the largest fan bases ever. It's not going anywhere. Also LOL@ the kid that said he doesn't want levels and classes in an RPG. Oh my..
Not many companies are able or even willing to or able to offer that level of excellent quality to players. With no monthly fees they really show us by actions how much they respect us players and how greed does not run this company and people in it. This is even more true when we talking about MMO’s. Thanks ArenaNet, keep up the awesome job!
One last thing, Id like to hear what others think. Ther are NO quests in the game. you do not have a guest log, with a build up of things to do or people to talk to. All your xp and rewards are through all the events in the world. Wether is picking up rabbits, putting out fires, pushing the centuars back. So no fetch quests. There are escort type events. What do you all think of that aspect?
The KARMA you get from events are used for, or can be horded to save up to get the peice of gear, or item you want. I dont know what you are saying by art and graphics, if something looks beautiful its beautiful. Isn't art and graphics intertwined? Unless you mean graphics vs gameplay which is 2 different things. Why would call people who went there, have personal experience with the game, even those that have hopes for the game "noobs" That is not really as insulting as you think it is. The game will be just as enjoyable as any other game out there and there are more people out there looking forward to it, then there are the nay sayers. We will just hope and wait and see!!
@lonkilanki there are 80 levels, was mentioned in the video, you can go from 1 to 80 in PvE or WvW with out going into PvE. @lash It seems you are not backing up what you say. Where has EVERY developer said the things that Arena net is pushing for their game? No online rpg has a character development system to where the story branches based on what you do. ( yes DA Orings and other single players game do this but not a MMO that I know of as of writing this) Yes at a very basic, bottom line, ...ALL games , ALL RPG games are inherintly the same. You have a character that lives in a fantasy setting, fighting creatures that dont exist. Leveling up to finish and see the ending of that story. It's "how' you go about that , that they are changing. Its working together, no one shotting low level mobs in a area. A fighting mechanic that rewards playing actively , not just sitting on the side of the mob auto attacking. You can actually work together to combine skills. But all this is discussed in many videos. The PVP area has 3 different areas that should satisfy everyone. The dungeons are repeatable with many different paths on a much more challangling level. Oh how many times I have done the same eg boss fights where you have to do the same path, go to the same Spawn to beat a boss time after time to maybe get a drop that you want or dont.
@Adema 83 whats been done in Warhammer Online is something completely different. they are just quests open for everyone with like 3 steps to do. after the public quest has been done a timer starts and the quest starts again with the exact same tasks. this has nothing to do with being dynamic
A true next-generation MMO. This game is going to be one of those prominent games in the next decade. High hopes for ArenaNet. I'm pre-ordering this magnificent game. I can't wait. #1 for me.
@ AzatiS - Dont forget that the Shatterer is only a Mid-Level event boss... @Lash540 - If you actually watched the interview you'd know that they have a side-kick system to allow players of differing levels to play with each other...
