The character's class does not impact the starting video, but the character's biography does. When you create a new character, you have to answer a few questions, for the Norn, there is a question that reads: "The most important quality of a great hero is _. " You select either strength, cunning, or instinct, which causes a separate section of the cinematic to play. For the Humans, you select how you were raised (Nobility, Commoner, or as a Street Rat). For the Charr you are either Blood, Ash or Iron Leigon. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Biography
expect a Diablo 3 release date to be announced shortly after a Guild Wars 2 release date is announced. Just a hunch...
Shame they left the cursor on during the trailer. When you start looking at the little white arrow it's hard to look away!
JUST GIVE US A RELEASE DATE ALRDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! were diein out har
I hope so, it's about time we get a taste of the WOW KILLER every one has been waiting for, for several years now.
"The Shatterer", one of Kralkatorrik's lieutenants is already larger than Deathwing, the final boss of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (so far). Imagine how huge the Elder Dragons in Guild Wars 2 actually is going to be... no comparison. This game is going to rock the MMO world by storm.
@Dat-tsu I believe so. Cause thief is not the only profession than can choose cunning in their background. Although, you may have a point as I am unsure about the "Trickery and cleverness".
@Evilnator Um... you sure about that, friend? Alot of people seem to be complaining that this intro has nothing to do with the character being the Thief class, but I'm pretty sure it does. He says during the into "I weave the skin of wisdom. My cunning confounds lesser foes" while a symbol that I assume if indicative of his profession weaves on screen. He also says "The Spirits of the Wild have given me the gifts of trickery and cleverness" and that "in the lodges and halls of my people, my cunning will be remembered through the ages " I -really- doubt the other classes, warriors for example, will mention trickery and cleverness as their gifts, or that they'll be remembered for their -cunning-. More likely they'll say something along the lines of "gifts of strength and courage" or something of that nature. That's how I interpreted this into anyway...
@Iainus Maybe this is not a direct answer to your question but: dragons in GW weren't put there yesterday or the day before, but they had been in GW since the very first game GW: Prophecies. Dragons lived long before humans and any other creature, and as far as I remember they actually created the world (I hope I remember it right ;-)).
I see how some people find it lame they didn't include your profession's story in intro movie, so I must ask you: do you really expect them to make 8professions X 5races = 40 intro movies? Well I don't (you may say i have low expectations but - Ok). And I think they've already put in intro one of the choices you make during character creation - this guy has chosen "cunning" so it's mentioned in video.
wtf is it with MMORPG's and dragons man? i mean come on seriously? every single 1 has a dragon in it.. Cataclysm, Rift, Aion and now this... Cant any1 come up with anythin else besides crappy dragons?
Hah, thief because the character created was a thief... And that was not mentioned in the intro. Well.. at least we see what the thief starting armor looks like xD.
Would a Norn make a good thief? I mean, these people are like giants. Hard to be stealthy when you're that big.
Anyone else catch a glimpse of Jora's concept art from EoTN? Can't wait for little references to the original game like this. It really makes the GW universe seem alive!
i like how this has nothing to do with the thief class..still waiting for GW2 though either way..its gunna be good..when its drops the tag line will be "we're not in Rift any more"..thats worth a thumbs up fa'sure..
not sure i understand what all the animals and the dragon thing has to do with a "thief". Cool story though.
