GS News - Xbox One could support mouse and keyboard
Tekken director, Katsuhiro Harada weighs in on where he thinks PlayStation will end up, Major Nelson says keyboard and mouse capabilities for Xbox One could happen and Call of Duty: Ghosts is set to be demanding on PCs.

Keyboard yes, mouse no.
Full support for mouse will damage the "fairness" in games such as fps, and will "force" players to go for a mouse rather then a controller if they wish to remain competetive in such games.
The problem with this is one of the consoles greatest strengths is that you can sit back and relax in a good chair rather then sitting in the usual "Hey, Im saving up for a hunchback" pose, that the mouse and keyboard usually leads to.
Other main strengths being the fact that everyone you play against has the exact same hardware/software, while not having to upgrade it once a year.
Aswell as hacking being less rampant then on pc.
Consoles need to embrace the few things they offer that the pc don't or else they will become redundant over time.
I find this interesting. You could already use most keyboards for the Xbox 360 to type messages, but it had little to no effect on my gaming experience. I don't really see this as something new, but it's nice that they're confirming keyboard capability so that you can easily search. What would be interesting in my opinion would be if Microsoft were to add an option to switch between controller and keyboard/mouse so that playing strategy games that may be exclusive on the Xbox One would be a better experience if the controller weren't the best option for the game. I hope that in the near future that Microsoft will add more functionality to the keyboard and mice.
I'm having an issue pressing "ESC" key and not having it exit out of full screen videos like it used to. Has anyone else experienced this?
So that's what's going on with the site? Huh. Don't see a difference yet.
If MS was planning for the future, they would of already had a wireless keyboard and mouse available out the box. HEY Kinect is supposedly FREE RIGHT?! May as well give us some VALUE in that extra 100 bucks there since EVERY BLOODY FEATURE YOU PROMOTE FOR XBOX ONE IS BEHIND A PAY WALL BY DEFAULT!
But since they didn't, don't see why I should bother with ever getting an NSA Box.
PS5? Yeah, Sony lost me at Gaikai. This news was no news to me since they already called it their future. I'd rather own my games, thanks.
Keyboard + mouse support, sure why not. More control = more options.
Continual complaints about the Kinect spying on people... just PS4 fan girls doing their complaining to try to influence others. If you are really worried about it that much, then put a pair of dirty underwear over the camera.
I want the PS7 already. It will be a chip implanted into your brain that transports your consciousness to the "cloud" where you can enjoy being shot in the face by raging 12 year olds while playing Call of Duty: Unnatural Warfare
I saw a discussion a while back about whether people wanted kb and mouse for the PS4 version of BF4. The vast majority said they didn't because they thought it would be unfair on controller users. I'd imagine it is possible to have separate servers for kb and mouse or controller (on GT academy it detected that I was using a 900 degree wheel so it should detect control method) and that would make everyone happy. While I haven't played it I know UT3 had kb and mouse support on PS3. If they had native kb and mouse support you wouldn't get people using those kb and mice that emulate a controller and getting an unfair advantage over their competitors. I think it's a bit stupid that we didn't get kb and mouse support this gen and I get the feeling we wont get it this gen either.
companies r thinking about providing service almost like a steam minus hardware needed. Just another way to cut out the sales of the gamestop's and piracy. as far as a keyboard and mouse feature for xbox one, more options is never a bad thing I just hope Sony follows suit also.
There is just no way that COD, to be at its best, requires a GTX 780. It shouldn't even require a 700 series at all lol
this is lame shit, not much different playing on a pc. adding keyboard on ur console, i would rather play it on my pc
mmm not sure about the k&m support good for them but damn it all i see is the want to sell us an Xbox pc in the end what next u can install Office 2010? and Outlook mail? ----_----- "amazing" times are coming , ah ill stick with my Vita and my 360 for now till waters settle at least drinkable : )
Black Ops 1 was the last COD I played on PC and it ran like a bag of turd. OK my PC isn't the best, Vista 32-bit, 4 GB RAM, Q8200 @2.94GHz and a GTX 285 (at the time, now running a 660 Ti). Most modern games run well on it and with my old card I could run BF3 quite nicely with settings between medium and high. They make so much money yet the optimisation on anything other than XBOX was crap. I don't know if MW3 or BO2 were any better (I played MW3 on PS3 and it seemed a pretty good port, I also own MW3 and BO2 on PC but haven't got around to them yet due to a huge backlog of games I've prioritised over them). There is no way you should require a 700 series, that is taking the piss.
My friends and I have drawn the line. I'm not quite sure why we've bought it every year (well to be honest I only bought MW3 and BO2 on PC because they were in a sale), but this year is the last time we buy a COD game until there is a good reason to return to the series.
PS: As far as COD goes (post MW1 so as not to overcomplicate things), Loved MW1, liked WAW, liked MW2, disliked BO1 (although experience may have been tainted as only played on PC and it ran like crap), was getting bored when bought MW3 but wanted to see the story out, only bought BO2 because it was on sale, watched a bit at friends and thought wow this series is looking stale!
lmao @ call of duty pc requirements. even battlefield 4 doesnt demand that much and it looks 100x better. i knew skipping another cod wouldnt be a bad idea. the devs just cant be bothered to optimize their "new engine" (scoff) so they'r forcing up the requirements to a rediculous level.
Yay, I want to add a keyboard and a mouse to my new spyware box! I want it to be a PC. I guess Ill throw my hydro 780 SLi i7 away since my spy will be a pc. You know it will only do 60 fps but that is brand loyalty that im in love with. Oh glad I fell out of my chair! Whoot my spybox pc bwa ha ha ha ha
Let's post a real article
Jess, great show as always! I think including a few gags at the end of the episode would be awesome. Wouldn't have to be every show, perhaps just the Friday top 5 one. Just a thought.
I already use a keyboard with both PS3 and XBox360. A mouse would be a plus only if the menu's were more centralized but I don't see that happening.
Don't make fun of yourself and then say you can make fun of yourself. Just make fun of yourself. :-P
@VolcanoMan001 Agreed. And give me Microsoft Office so I can work at home. Give me voice type and I can actually get work done.
Or I guess I could just use my PC, but meh....
Damn! meant to say "I get the feeling we wont get it next gen either". Already edited once for typos.
@kgallis21 Actually, you can already use a surprising amount of USB devices with PS. I was using a Generic Flight-Sim Joystick for PC for a long time to play some flight games. And I know you can plug just about any USB storage device in it for file transfer. And I think there are some games even now that you can use mouse and keyboard on... I'm pretty sure on that last one.
@voodz Spotted that too.
@tomservo51 It wouldn't have been the first time COD players had been duped into wasting money.
@IamTakkun I've always been frustrated by this. If my console has USB ports, why can't I use a mouse and keyboard to play RTS games on it? WHHY!?!
@IamTakkun Indeed and also first person shooters, third person shooter and anything that require precise aiming or fast cursor movement. Many console exclusive could be much more enjoyable with more elegant way to control.
@blown503 Only idiots like you don't know you are already spied on by the NSA, all your phone calls and internet activity are being recorded as we speak jackass!!! This is a fact, can't be disputed was on the news a couple weeks ago, but I'm sure you could not tear yourself away from watching cartoons.
@blown503 only some of the games will run at 60fps. a majority are set for more 30fps lagfests such as watchdogs.
@93ChevyNut More gagging would definitely improve the show.
@willzihang lucky for me I have 2 770 but I wont be getting ghost for the PC. OH one more thing PS4 and X box 1 graphics power doesn't come any where near a 780.
@willzihang Hmm, especially since a 780 will cost you a good $650. Perhaps they just didn't bother optimizing COD for PC? I've seen a lot of crazy power requirements in console ports before.
This is kinda depressing though-- here I'd thought that my 760 would be good for a while. :(
@RickPhoenix Aye, just imagine how much power and tech has been wasted on PCs for the past 6 or so years-- Crysis 1 in 2007 should have been a starting point. Imagine how graphics would be if graphics would have actually improved vastly in the 6 years since that was released.
