GS News Update: Wii U sales slow to a crawl as Nintendo posts $457 million loss
With just 2.72 million units sold over the last 12 months, the Wii U isn't doing the numbers for Nintendo.

The only thing that I want that the Wii U has is Bayonetta 2. Still because of the game I am not buying a Wii U. I'll just stick to my PS3 and Vita.
Nintendo is doomed!!! they need to act quick, droop the price of the Wii-U and focus on the portable devices... the Wii-U does not go along with the current console generation, it came a few years later
Nintendo is done. They could've saved their company years ago when they had the chance to capitalize on skylanders but didn't have the foresight to do so. I give the company 5 to 6 years before they end up like Atari.
Maybe if they stopped churning out Mario games every year and did something different their sales would be higher. Just saying.
NINTENDO!!!! Please dear god would you get off your high horse and read what the industry wants!! This path you have taken started years ago when you were just to high and mighty to provide backwards compatibility.. Funny Strange upstart Chinese manufactures make a console that plays N64, Super Nes and NES games all in one for under a 100 dollars. Then comes game cube with no internet, No DVD player and screwy Low Storage Mini disc's because for some reason you think that's what people want.. Then comes the Neutered Wii with a New revolutionary Control system that has now mostly been abandoned. and again you miss the mark.. No HD Capable Games..While the dying PS2 is already flirting with that. and no Hard drive. All because you were afraid the Pirates would have a field day.. well guess what the Wii is the most pirated system of all time. Then comes the Wii U and all your promises and still no DVD no Blu-ray No Hard drive but again a controller no one asked for and makes a leap pad look like a third gen Ipad. Would you finally give the people what they want 1) A POWERFUL SYSTEM WITH THE GOODS TO GO TEN YEARS.. 2) QUIT REMAKING ALL YOUR OLD GAMES.. CANT YOU EVEN COME UP WITH ONE ORIGINAL IDEA?? 3) PUT IN THE DAMNED BLU RAY DRIVE ALREADY ..OR BE BLAZIN WITH A 4K DRIVE. AND LASTLY PLEASE FIRE YOUR AGING ADVISORS WHO STILL THINK IT THE 80'S IF YOU WANT TO TAKE BACK THE INDUSTRY AND BE NUMBER ONE YOU CAN...JUST GO AND DO IT AND QUIT CUTTING CORNERS.
Do I dare guess that you are working on Wii 3? or the 4ds? (it makes your games go back in time to play older.. WAIT YOUR DOING THAT NOW!!..see what I mean??)
New System. New IP's that will make the competition blush this is your time the industry is sluggish everywhere Be Bold and take it back. Or suffer 1983 all over again, but this time you will be the ones going out of business.
Nintendo really need to lower the price of the system or abandon it. I wpuld love to see them selling WiiUs extremly cheap (like $100 cheaper) and with at least one free game added (how about a Nintendoland, nsmb and ww bundle?) I own the system, I love it and I don't wanna see it die. So Nintendo go and do something for it. Like announce a Pokemon mmorpg with monthly subscription instead of another remake on a handheld
i cant say im supprised they have lost 457 million they release the console then put hardly any games out for it, all they need to do is start releasing some new games for the wiiu, like fzero, zelda, mario galaxy 3 etc etc in the 1st yr the wiiu was released i think nintendo put out about 2 or 3 games for it, if that, like most nintendo console owners i bought it for the nintendo exclusives and its really lacking here
There are no words for how jarring it is to click something expecting Jess McDonell and instead see a close-up shot of an unshaven man.
As for Nintendo, they've been content to recycle franchises for 20 years under the notion that children haven't played their games repeatedly. While it's a fair idea, it will limit their audience and they can't seriously expect to fare much better than they are right now.
@XCyberForceX They have 80 some billion dollars to burn through before they die. I agree that Nintendo has made some very poor choices, but they're not even remotely close to done and I wouldn't be surprised if they still make a profit this generation.
@kereke12 bring the house down? maybe for the 3Ds...
as far as the Wii U , here is its' future :
Zelda(2015...L fkin O + L )
and that's it. I'm not even going to own the wiiU anymore when Zelda is released. The wii had more interesting titles, and it was garbage.
@kereke12 I hope you are right. That would be really cool.
@youre_a_sheep Worse then limit their audience, they've lost it :). I keep repeating the same thing in Nintendo discussions, they are no longer the automatic winner with kids they once were.
